I have installed the SH404SEF component for Joomla 2.5. It is working in my live site , but does not work in localhost.
I have enabled the mod_rewrite and added htaccess in my localhost. but it is not redirecting and 404 error occurs. please Help
Create fresh installation of Joomla
After that check whether there is.htacsess file,
Else Create a .htaccess file and finally
Install the Sh404sef Component Using the Control Panel of Sh404sef
Start the SEF process and you can able to see the result
.htaccess Sample
At the End of .htaccess file , you will see

Consider changing the variable shDefaultParams['sh404SEF_USE_NON_STANDARD_PORT'. Guess it will work for you.

I'm not so good with htaccess and tried to find an answer to my question but no luck so far.
So I have this .htaccess rewrite:
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} /(api|nova|nova-api)
RewriteRule .* /index.php
Which works well.
The website is an Angular site where I have dynamic URLs which are routed by JS.
So if I open base domain: example.com works well because index.html is served.
But if I open a route like: example.com/example-route. It says 404.
Could you please help me how should I modify the .htaccess file?
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} /(api|nova|nova-api)
RewriteRule .* /index.php
You would seem to just need to rewrite the request to index.html after your API rewrite to index.php. However, you should modify your existing rule to add the L flag and the regex that matches the request should be anchored (although the condition is not required at all since the URL check should be performed in the RewriteRule directive itself).
For example, try the following instead:
# "index.html" needs to take priority when requesting the root directory
DirectoryIndex index.html
# Abort early if request is already "index.html" or "index.php"
RewriteRule ^index\.(html|php)$ - [L]
# Rewrite certain requests to Laravel API
RewriteRule ^(api|nova|nova-api)($|/) index.php [L]
# Rewrite everything else to Angular
# (unless it already maps to a file or directory)
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . index.html [L]
Since the "homepage" is already working OK, it would suggest DirectoryIndex is already set OK in the server config (and prioritising index.html), although explicitly setting this to just index.html (as above) is more optimal, if this is all that's required.
I'm trying to deploy my Laravel app and block the access to the others files like .env
I put all my laravel app in the www folder, and I add this htaccess :
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^public
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ public/$1 [L]
</IfModule>
But when I go to my domain url I have all the files.. seem like my htaccess is not working (he's on the Laravel app root)
Here's a simple method using only a .htaccess file placed in Laravel's root directory - e.g. alongside app, bootstrap, config, ... No changes whatsoever are necessary to your code.
The file rewrites all the requests so that requesting /file.png would in fact return /public/file.png and anything else is routed to /public/index.php. This also ensures that nothing outside the public folder can be accessed, thereby protecting any sensitive files like .env or database/*.
The simple method
This method assumes that DOCUMENT_ROOT is set properly by your Apache server. Try this first and use the 2nd method only if it doesn't work on your server.
.htaccess
RewriteEngine on
# serve existing files in the /public folder as if they were in /
RewriteCond %{DOCUMENT_ROOT}public%{REQUEST_URI} -f
RewriteRule (.+) /public/$1 [L]
# route everything else to /public/index.php
RewriteRule ^ /public/index.php [L]
The slightly more complicated method
If your server doesn't set DOCUMENT_ROOT properly, then you'll need to use an absolute path in RewriteCond. That is, an absolute path on the server's filesystem. You can get it by copying the following script to the directory where your Laravel installation will reside and visiting its URL - i.e. http://example.com/get_doc_root.php.
get_doc_root.php
<?php
echo getcwd();
This should result in something like /var/www/example.com/web. Use the following .htaccess file and replace [[your path]] with the actual path you got.
.htaccess
RewriteEngine on
# serve existing files in the /public folder as if they were in /
RewriteCond [[your path]]/public%{REQUEST_URI} -f
RewriteRule (.+) /public/$1 [L]
# route everything else to /public/index.php
RewriteRule ^ /public/index.php [L]
In our example case, the RewriteCond line would look like this:
RewriteCond /var/www/example.com/web/public%{REQUEST_URI} -f
I have weird problem. I have to modify old CodeIgniter project.
Im using local windows XAMPP server for development, and my project was working on XAMPP.
Few weeks ago I reinstalled operating system . I installed XAMPP (same version) and i moved htdocs from default c:\xampp\htdocs to e:\htdocs. I had no problems with XAMPP with moved htdocs (other non-codeigniter projects are working fine).
Today I copied application from production server to my localhost and it's not working.
When I try to open in browser: http://localhost/myprojectfolder im getting blank page.
Clean CodeIgniter installation on local windows XAMPP works (however clean installation is not using .htaccess).
Project is working normally on production web server with .htaccess file like this:
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /myprojectfolder
### Canonicalize codeigniter URLs
# If your default controller is something other than
# "welcome" you should probably change this
# RewriteRule ^(welcome(/index)?|index(\.php)?)/?$ / [L,R=301]
# RewriteRule ^(.*)/index/?$ $1 [L,R=301]
# Removes trailing slashes (prevents SEO duplicate content issues)
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.+)/$ $1 [L,R=301]
# Removes access to the system folder by users.
# Additionally this will allow you to create a System.php controller,
# previously this would not have been possible.
# 'system' can be replaced if you have renamed your system folder.
# RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^system.*
# RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /index.php/$1 [L]
# Checks to see if the user is attempting to access a valid file,
# such as an image or css document, if this isn't true it sends the
# request to index.php
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?/$1 [L]
</IfModule>
<IfModule !mod_rewrite.c>
# Without mod_rewrite, route 404's to the front controller
ErrorDocument 404 /index.php
</IfModule>
I dont remember, that i had separate .htaccess file for localhost or not. If I had - it was overwritten by file from production server.
MySQL database used in project is identical on both servers (name, user, password, structure etc.).
My $config['uri_protocol'] is set to AUTO and it was working on XAMPP with AUTO.
My file permissions in htdocs are fine (user that is starting httpd.exe service can read and write there).
My routing:
$route['default_controller'] = "home";
$route['admin'] = 'admin/start';
$route['404_override'] = '';
Any ideas?
I just started using Codeigniter to develop a simple static website using a local server (MAMP). Initially my local address to access my homepage was http://localhost/index.php/home. Even a simple localhost would redirect to my homepage. I wanted to remove the 'index.php' from the URL and hence I copy pasted the .htaccess code which I found online. The code looked like the following:
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /

Initially I copy-pasted the code without changing it at all (which was foolish on my part) So the 'localhost' in the code above was initially 'www.domains.tld'. When I then ran localhost on my browser, it directed to www.domains.tld'. I noticed the blunder and changed it to what it is above and localhost still directs to 'www.domains.tld' I deleted the .htaccess file to reverse the effect but it still does the same thing.
I also changed my root folder for localhost but whatever I do localhost points to 'domains.tld'. When I type 127.0.0.1 on the address bar of my browser, it directs correctly to my website. I have spent hours reading up on the reason for this behavior but am unsuccessful to find a solution.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
H.
Clear your DNS cache and restart your browser. Certain browsers cache redirects with DNS so that you end up at what it thinks is the correct site more quickly.
Firefox is particularly annoying with this, so I disable its internal DNS caching every time I install. In about:config, create the following two integer type settings (NOTE: you MUST create these, they do not exist by default):
network.dnsCacheEntries set to 0
network.dnsCacheExpiration set to 0
In Chrome, you would need to turn off DNS prefetching under your Privacy settings.
The reason they do this is to make the internet "seem" faster to casual browsers. For developers, it can be quite a hindrance.
I have a website with a contact that used to work fine.
I've narrowed it down to this mod_rewrite rule that is causing the form not to work.
# If client requested does not exist as a directory or a file
# then add .php to the actual filename
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME}.php -f
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ $1.php [L]
# Gets rid of the file extensions in the address bar
# If client request header contains php file extension
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} ^[A-Z]{3,9}\ /([^.]+)\.php\ HTTP
# externally redirect to extensionless URI
RewriteRule ^([^.]+)\.php$ http://cacrochester.com/$1 [R=301,L]
How can I modify this so that it will not affect the contact form on the page http://cacrochester/Contact-Us.php, but it will still remove the extensions in the address bar?
Make that form point to the URL without .php.
Point to http://www.cacrochester.com/Contact-Us instead of http://www.cacrochester.com/Contact-Us.php.
