I want to enable Compilation on our Magento website, but when I enable it, I get blank content for my home page. It stops rendering before outputting the menu. Category and product pages seem to be fine.
We use the Mercado theme, and the home page uses a HomepageGrid block which is a CMS page.
Could anybody provide some insight?

all you have to do is to check your error log. blank page means php error, and your output configured into error log, not screen. possible places to look: path_to/magento/var/log/ files system.log and exception.log. or /var/log/ and folders httpd/error_log etc. looks like you have some module like featured products or other custom stuff on front page, check your CMS > Pages > Homepage content. thank you

i changed the images directly in the coding of the home page in the panel
and now its showing on the home page only before doing this it was showing on every product page any help will be appreciated.

I think in homepage you have used 2columns-left layout and for product detail page 2columns-right layout, so you have to check into both layout's phtml file and check if anything(e.g. cms-block) missing for product detail page.
I think this is cms block which are calling on different positions first find block id for this and from admin disabled that block if you want to remove it thanks
I am working on a magento store, i have done some change in the admin panel like scope change in store, and update some project using CSV file after that i am seeing a different as a default page on my store.
if i type domain.com/cms correct page is coming, but if i type domain.com page is not correct and it is also without js and css, and not able to if the page in the cms/pages,
also tried system> configuration> design and web chages, but it vain, also tried categories > url rewtire but no luck.
can anybody help me on this.
I have a simple question...I had an old store and people bookmarked specific product pages in their browsers as well as Google search points to some specific pages. I have now installed a new version of Magento (1.9.1) and some of these URLs will not longer work (they will show the standard 404 not found Magento page).
What would be the best way to forward all these hits to the front page?

Login to the admin, go to System>Configuration>Web and change the drop-down value for CMS No Route Page in the Default Pages section. You should be able to select your CMS Home Page.

I am working with a Magento install that I did not set up and am pretty green when it comes to its operation... There is a default page serving as the "home page" when there is already a page defined in the back-end as the "home page". The path in the URL reads as: DOMAIN/index.php but when I try to find said index file using google developer mode, I can find no such file that would generate the layout. I suppose I just don't have enough overall knowledge to figure out what is at work here. Can someone help me figure out why it's using the default home page instead of mine?
On most webshops I've worked on the CMS home page wasn't really used. Instead of the CMS home it can be easier to use a custom template to setup the homepage with static blocks and what not.
If this is also the case for you, there might be two places you can find this custom template:
In the layout xml files, search forcms_index_index?
In backend, navigate to the CMS home page and go to the Design tab
About the index.php part: this is because you probably because you haven't enabled mod_rewrite in your server configuration
I am using Shell's module creator and when I load up the Brands.php block for the admin panel to CRUD my custom database for my module, I am given a blank page upon clicking Manage Items from the Brand menu. Have you any idea why? I checked the error logs and there's nothing there.
From the image it looks like the Grid_Container isn't getting loaded into your layout. Try enabling Template / Block hints and seeing if there is anything loaded. I'm guessing your layout is misconfigured/missing.
