Can't copy executable files from network share to local disk - windows-7

In my setup there is a win7 in a virtuialbox on a linux host. I like to use a "shared folder" with the host which is seen as "network location" in win7. Unfortunately I'm not able to execute some files from the shared folder (I want to put installer files there and install them in a lot of snapshots of my virtual machine). It's also not possible to copy the files to win7's local hard drive.
Error message for copying is:
An unexpected error is keeping you from copying the file...
Error 0x80070057: The parameter is incorrect.
Error message when trying to execute directly:
The specified path does not exist. (I'm sure it exists because I just double-clicked the file.)
I assume this is some kind of "security" setting but I could not find out how to disable this.

Writer initialization failed.Error opening output file. The system cannot find the path specified

In informatica pc I got an error like Writer initialization failed.Error opening output file. The system cannot find the path specified.
Even I checked the directories and file names but what exactly confused.
It's exactly as it says: the Writer failed to initialize, as it was not able to locate the path and file specified.
Note that PowerCenter Workflows and Mappings are executed on the Server. So while you develop on your local laptop (for example) and place a file in C:\Temp folder, and you are able to see the file, once you run the process, it will be executed on the Server. And the Server will not refer your laptop. It will look for C:\Temp location on its local disk. And if that's a unix box, there won't even be a C: path!
Hence, the process will fail with exactly the message you've seen: initialization failed, error opening output file. You need to place the file in the location accessible by Server.
In case of Writer, you name target location where the file will be created - make sure the user used by PowerCenter does have the write access.

Duplicity Restore Throwing "IsADirectoryError: Is a directory" Error

My Linux machine recently failed and I am trying to restore my files onto a Windows 11 machine. The files were created using Duplicity (the external HD containing the files has hundreds of .difftar.gz and .sigtar.gz files as well as a '.manifest'). Having installed CGWin and the duplicity package, I traverse to my external HD in cgwin...
$ pwd
/cygdrive/e
... and attempt to restore the latest snapshot of my lost directories/files to a temp folder on my Windows 11 machine by running:
duplicity restore file:/// /cygdrive/c/Users/john/OneDrive/Documents/temp
At this juncture, the restoration fails due to a "IsADirectoryError" error.

Is there an error in my duplicity command? Do I have corrupted backups? Any assistance in trouble-shooting this would be greatly appreciated!
let's assume that duplicity works (it's not officially supported on windows in any way). never tried it.
say your backup data exists in the root of your external harddrive mounted as E:.
you want to restore the complete last backup into a folder C:\Users\john\OneDrive\Documents\temp\ .
two points
point it to your backup location properly. absolutely that would be /cygdrive/e/ or as url file:///cygdrive/e/
point to your target folder as folder ending with a slash / to signal that the backup is to be restored in there.
taking these points into account a command like
duplicity file:///cygdrive/e/ /cygdrive/c/Users/john/OneDrive/Documents/temp/
should work as expected.
NOTE: you don't need the action command restore as the order of arguments (url before local file system location) tells duplicity already that you want to restore.

PhpStorm Remote FTP "no files found"

I am new to PhpStorm and try to connect the project to my existing folders and files on my FTP server. I configured the deployment settings first in the settings menu and for testing via "create project from existing files" in another project. Both ways, I can connect to my FTP server and can browse through the server folders.
But not all of the files are shown in PhpStorm. E.g. I can find the file index.php but not 2.bs-test.template.php in the developer folder (which exists on FileZilla but not for PhpStorm). Therefore, some folders are completely "empty" for PhpStorm and I cannot download and edit these files...
When I try to download the error "No files or folders found to process" occurs.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
Solution: In my case, some folders had suffixes like .../foldername [2]/....
PhpStorm is not able to read files in these folders with special suffixes like [2]. After I removed the suffixes the files appeared - without any changes in remote settings.

Unable to execute file in the temporary directory Error 2: The system cannot find the file specified

I am trying to download GIT to a computer that does not have access to internet. In the process, I am getting this error message:
"Unable to execute file in the temporary directory Error 2: The system cannot find the file specified"
I have downloaded the installation file, Git-2.23.0-64-bit.exe, from Git website. I have then copied it to a shared drive. After that, I remotely connected to the computer (the one I want to download Git to) using VNC. I have copied the installation file to the Desktop of the remote computer. Then, when I double click on it to open it, I get this error message:
"Unable to execute file in the temporary directory Error 2: The system cannot find the file specified."
I know I do have administrators rights with the user I am working with. I have tried to log in with other users, administrators and not, but cannot get the file to open.

mklink error on domain connected machine but valid symlink still created - "the system cannot find the file specified"

On domain connected Windows 10 and Windows 8.1 machines (issue may not be version specific), running mklink symlinkToCreate.txt originalFile.txt is producing an error The system cannot find the file specified. The symlink is still created correctly.
I have made sure that originalFile.txt does exist and that symlinkToCreate.txt does not already exist. I have also tried using absolute paths for both parts instead of relative paths. I am using an elevated command prompt as I know that only elevated Administrators can create symlinks by default. I have also checked the Create symbolic links local policy and confirmed that this is just set to Administrators.
Directory link creation also produces the error (mklink /D). Hard link creation, however, works fine (mklink /H).
Weirdly, I get the same behaviour even when logged in using the local Administrator account. I also get the same behaviour on a different machine in the same domain. The exact same commands work perfectly on a non domain-connected machine.
Given that mklink is built into cmd and that the file I'm linking definitely exists, I'm stumped as to what file the system cannot find, though I strongly suspect that the actual content of the error is a red herring. Shame there doesn't seem to be a mklink debug mode!
Any pointers greatly appreciated as I'm banging my head against a wall with this one.
