Hide IntelliJ Idea Problems view - view

Is there any way to hide the Problems view tab?
I chose it in Tools Window, but can't find any way to hide it again. Even editing the project XML doesn't help.
Any idea?
Thanks.

just click the down arrow, on top right of problems window, or click shift+escape while focussed. You can also remove the tool bar - view > and un tick.

Xcode 12 - Project Navigator width is stuck/locked, can't resize

Every so often the project navigator/left panel is stuck at a fixed width. This is very annoying when I have extensions in separate files named MainViewController+<Extension name>, because the <Extension name> is truncated.
PhotoSlide... what???
Pressing the "Hide or show the Navigator" button doesn't do anything either.
Quitting Xcode and restarting works. But this takes time, and I lose my place. Is there any other way to fix the stuck width problem?
Please follow these steps if you don't want to reopen the Xcode everytime:
Right-click (or control-click) on any file
Select Open in New Window
And ta-da! You can now resize the project navigator freely!
Instead of opening a new window, just use a tab:
Open a new tab (⌘+T)
Close the old one
This also annoyed me....finally I clicked around and found the show/hide navigator icon on the very top left next to the os icons and clicked it...after that it could resize.
it is to the left of the play button fyi.
I have had success by re-sizing the entire Xcode window - make it smaller then larger and the navigator becomes resizable again.
Sad to say it, but restarting Xcode worked for me..
Here is another workaround. When the navigator gets stuck or locked, click on the "Debug" navigator (or View > Navigators > Debug menu item). Voilà, you now should have the ability to resize.
NOTE: You may have to do this a couple times by selecting another navigator or two and then re-selecting the debug navigator.
UPDATE: This doesn't work reliably. #Senseful has the best solution so far.

Xcode 11 Won't Open New Editor Pane

So Xcode 11 changed the way editor panes are added and removed. Ok, fine, I got used to it soon enough. But a few days after using the Xcode 11 GM build, the option to add an editor is suddenly disabled.
Could be a bug, could be a 'feature' that I've inadvertently triggered. Neither the menu, toolbar button nor shortcut (^⌘T) will give me another editor (though they all did with the same build yesterday).
Any ideas?
(Note: this screenshot has the Navigator pane hidden for simplicity. Its presence/absence doesn't help with this issue)
Ok, this is embarrassing. I was in a 'focus' mode and could only add editors after I had 'hidden focus'. There are a few ways to do this:
View > Editor > Hide Focus
Tap the 'arrows pointing at each other' icon in the top left of the editor toolbar
^⇧⌘↩︎
ps. I was seriously tempted to delete my question when I realised how dumb I'd been, but I'm leaving it up as I suspect this UI quirk might also trip up others (let me know if it does, it'll help me feel like less of a fool)

RStudio: can I pop out the source pane?

I have a dual monitor and I wish I can pop out the "source pane"(where I edit my code), so that I can edit the code in one monitor and track everything else in another.
Does anyone know if this is possible?
Thank you very much for your help.
This feature was just added to RStudio this week. You can try it in our daily builds (0.99.636 or newer):
https://dailies.rstudio.com/
To pop out your file to a new window, either:
Drag the tab outside the RStudio window to where you want your new code window to appear, or
Click the "Show in new window" button on the editor toolbar (it's next to forward/back)
If you try it, let us know what you think on the support forum.
I'm using the latest Studio and encountered similar needs. I found that ctrl+shift+number will suit my needs most of the time since it zooms to the pane that I desire and can also back to the full four window layout.
An additional trick is customize the hotkey to alt+number [1,2,3,4,5] so the pane zooms more handy with one click by your left hand on the keyboard.
Hope it helps.

How do I show the description box of the properties window in Visual Studio 2010 if it is hidden?

How do I show the description box of the properties window in Visual Studio 2010 if it is hidden?
For example, the following image shows the description box. It reads "Load: Occurs whenever the user loads the form."
I had the same problem and it was caused by the description box lenght having been dragged to zero. To solve the problem I had to un-dock the properties box and resize it as long as possible. It is then just possible to find the verticle resize cursor at the bottom and resize the box.
Right click and select "Description" menu item.
If the suggestion by Alex doesn't work, an alternative is to click WINDOW > Reset Window Layout.
Warning: This will reset every window so best used only as a last resort.
Another potential solution that worked for me.
Righ-click on the Properties Window and uncheck the Description in the popup menu. If it's not checked, then go to the next step.
Exit VS and launch again.
Load your project/solution then select an object on your design surface, right-click and select properties.
In the Properties window, right-click, and in the popup menu, check the Description item. The Descrip[tion area should open up and display a description.
I had the same problem, that is why I ended up reading this. I tried the right click and unchecked the option for description, and rechecked it. didn't help. I then moved my mouse over the very bottom of the little window pane and saw a cursor that looked 2 arrows over a horizontal line here is a picture of arrow. By dragging that line up, I was able to get my descriptions back.
Just had the same problem in an ASP.NET project and solved by rendering the .aspx page clicking the Design bottom left button, then when I returned to the Source view the descriptions now appeared.
A bit extreme, but after trying everything, this is what worked for me:
Download Window Detective
Undock and Maximize the Properties Window
Pick the Properties Window with Window Detective, and look for the Description Pane in the hierarchy
Flash the Description Pane to find out where it is
Set its WS_CAPTION and WS_THICKFRAME styles on
Resize the Description Pane to give it some height :)
Set its WS_CAPTION and WS_THICKFRAME styles off
Redock the Property Window.
Everybody happy

Cannot view code in the object

I'm not sure if this is right, but I can't view the "code behind" in VB6. Everytime I click the "view code" for an object (for example a button), the code does not display.
Can you help me with this or any workaround for this? I need to do a breakpoint on this.
I ran into the same issue. Could not view the code or the designer.
Seems that VB6 lost track of where things should be displayed, whether offscreen or not I could not tell. Kept clicking View Code and View Object, and neither worked.
Found the solution:
Attempt to open the code or designer that doesn't show up. (It will get opened, just won't show)
Select Window from the menu, then select Cascade.
You should then see the code/designer show up on the screen. No re-install or remove/add needed.
You may need to do this each time, even after saving the .vbp (project) file, upon re-opening VB6 the files once again are not showing for me, but Cascade makes them visible again. (Anyone have any ideas on how to make this more permanent?)
Enjoy!
You may remove the form which is not showing the code in the project explorer window and add it again by right clicking on the project explorer window then select Add -> Form -> (instead of selecting in "New" tab navigate on the "Existing" tab then choose the form you have just remove and try viewing its code again). It will work 100% :D
Double click your controls and the source code will be shown.
