I have only used Mac in the past to compile, so I am a little lost with the following issue.
I am trying to compile a program in Windows 7 through cygwin. Svn co to get the source code works, but upon $ ccmake. the error "command not found" appears. I have the devel. tools from the cygwin setup, as well as cmake and MinGW-64 installed. Where can be the bug? Is ccmake. command supported at all in cygwin?
Any hints are appreciated.
If you are using Cygwin, you should install Cmake using Cygwin as well. The package should be called "cmake". Once that is done you should find ccmake at
/usr/bin/ccmake
AKA
C:\cygwin\bin\ccmake.exe
and you should make sure your PATH contains /usr/bin

I am using Mingw with code:blocks for years but now I need to to use cygwin64 with code blocks.
So I installed cygwin64 (for 64-bit windows) and the folder C:\cygwin64\bin does not have gcc.exe or g++.exe, while I installed them along with other packages indicated here (NOTE: I do not know if the command prompt runs the gcc/g++ from mingw or from cygwin?)
I do not know if the gcc.exe or g++.exe did not get installed because i also have mingw.
There are many youtube tutorials for this, but they all download the 32-bit version of cygwin. I would like to use the 64-bit. Has anyone done this?
Note that i followed the code:blocks wiki on how to install cygwin, but it does not say whether I need to install the 32 or 64-bit, and there are many points where it says " add [Cygwin]\usr\X11R6\bin (if required)" and ""-3" may need to be changed to "-4"". Unclear documentation!
the gcc compiler is included in the gcc-core package
$ cygcheck -p bin/gcc
Found 10 matches for bin/gcc
gcc-core-10.2.0-1 - gcc-core: GNU Compiler Collection (C, OpenMP)
...
This is valid for both 32bit and 64bit versions of Cygwin.
Fixed it by uninstalling the cygwin64 altogether, and I installed the cygwin 32-bit version. Tutorials on how to install 32-bit version can be found here and here This also installed gcc.exe, g++.exe files in the C:\cygwin\bin folder.
With compiler settings:
I have extremely limited programming experience, and I am trying to get Google Course Builder up and running to make a class on a website. I have tried a lot of things, and have probably screwed things up badly by this point, but hopefully the situation is salvageable with enough help.
So far I have:
Downloaded Course Builder to my Windows 7 64 bit pc
Manually installed python 2.7.17
Installed Cygwin manually
Ran windows_start_local.bat (Which installed Cygwin again)
This showed up in a new window:

cause of this problem is that you don't have the XCode Command Line

Typed: easy_install http://www.voidspace.org.uk/python/pycrypto-2.6.1/pycrypto-2.6.1.win32-py2.7.exe into CMD prompt and it said pycrypto was installed and that dependencies had been processed.
Typed: windows_start_local.bat into CMD prompt again
Got the same error:

Got that same error again.

Came here because I have no idea what the heck I am doing.
I'm trying to install OpenCV on Windows and I followed the Installation by Using git-bash (version>=2.14.1) and cmake (version >=3.9.1) tutorial from the official OpenCV documentation but when I run the build operation I get an error.
I'm using:
Windows 10
CMake 3.9.1
Git Bash 2.17.0
TDM64 GCC compiler 5.1.0
Here's the error
In file included from C:\lib\opencv\modules\videoio\src\cap_msmf.cpp:59:0:

Did someone encounter this kind of error?
Yes I also encountered this error (when compiling with MinGW-w64 gcc 8.1).
For you and anybody else who finds this question when this error occurs (like me), here's what solved the issue for me:
When not using Visual Studio, you have to disable some features which are not supported. Build with cmake options WITH_IPP=OFF and WITH_MSMF=OFF
Solution found on opencv answers: http://answers.opencv.org/question/192758/compile-error-when-compiling-for-windows-341-dev/
I installed Cygwin x86 on my Windows 8 Pro x64 on default settings and then I start Cygwin terminal. Then I got "-bash: wget: command not found"
I'm following this guide
How do I fix this?
Thank in advance.
Install wget as well through the setup screen of Cygwin although it would risk having updates with other packages. You can also install a native executable manually in a place valid with path like c:\windows\system32. See http://users.ugent.be/~bpuype/wget/.
I am updating Cmake in my Mac Book pro with OS X Lion 10.7.5. The old version of Cmake is 2.8.8 and the new one is 2.8.10. When I run almost to the end of the installation process, the installer prompts
for creating a Symlink to /usr/bin of several tools. After click on continue, the installer throws an exception telling that couldn't create symlinks. Previously of the process, I've moved to trash the old version of Cmake and then using finder I got nothing more files of Cmake on the machine. Any idea how Can I complete the installation succesfully?
In my case, attempting to install cmake 2.8.12 on OSX 10.8.5 failed. The cmake-2.8.12.2-Darwin-universal.dmg installer downloaded directly from cmake.org would hang while running the post install scripts. I found and removed all the symlinks described by willyMon, but it still would hang, requiring me to resort to ps + kill to unhang the installer.
For me, installing via brew did the trick:
brew install cmake
It installed 2.8.12.2 in /usr/local/bin without a hitch.
Opening the Applications folder in a terminal
cd /
cd Applications/
then doing:
sudo bash
CMake.app/Contents/bin/cmake-gui
Then run from the CMake GUI:
"Tools->Install For Command Line Use"
works OK for me.
Ok, after looking in deep for this error, I found that I missed some simple detail and this was the key to solve the problem. The Cpack installer of Cmake 2.8.10.1 try to create symbolic links to this files:
-cmake-gui
-cmakexbuild
-cmake
-cpack
-ctest
So, from a terminal I've removed all the previous Symlinks that the older version created, then I ran the installer again and the installation was done succesfully without any errors or warnings.
