Cannot open OR create MVC3 project or solution - asp.net-mvc-3

this is driving me crazy, I`ve been unable to find a solution on SO or anywhere else.
VS2010 Professional SP1
MVC3 installed
NUGET updated
Windows 7 Professional
Any MVC3 project fails to load with the
The project type is not supported by this installation.
message.
What's crazy is I cannot even create a new MVC3 project, even though the template is available! VS gets through the new project wizard project, then I get the same failure message:
project type not supported
I've reinstalled VS and MVC3.

Can not reference System.data Error when creating project

I am using Visual Studio 2015 Enterprise to generate Coded UI Tests. Things have been working well until this morning. When I attempt to create a new Solution/Project, I am given the following error:
I am then able finish loading the project. However, I see another issue in solution explorer:
Note that there is no path given for the selected reference. If I try to remove it/add it back as a reference manually, I still do not see a path or version. I have tried the following:
Selected different .Net framework versions when creating the solution/project
Tried different project types: Window Forms, Class Library
Repaired visual studio
Repaired .Net Framework 4.6.1
So far I have been unable to make the error go away. Any other suggestions?
I was not able to resolve this issue. I ended up performing a reinstall of the OS/Visual Studio to get things working again.

While Creating setup showing Error in visual studio

I am working on visual studio 2010. I am trying to Rebuild my setup project but I am getting these 3 error(s):
1: An error occurred generating a bootstrapper: Unable to finish updating resource for C:\Users\IBS Support\Desktop\Evalet Without Printer & Stored Procedrure\1\EVallet-Desktop\EvaletSetup\Debug\setup.exe with error 80070005
2: General failure building bootstrapper
3: Unrecoverable build error
I am using MS Visual Studio 2010, version 10.0.30319.1
(.Net FrameWork Version 4.5.50709)
This post should help you.
Quote from the post:
This happens because The .NET framework version required by the setup project is different than the .NET framework version targeted by the application.
To verify this:
In Solution Explorer, select the setup project.
On the View menu, point to Editor, and then click Launch Conditions. Click .NET
Framework.
In the Properties window, change the Version property to the version of the .NET Framework that you want the setup project to check for and install.
Hope this helps?

Razor View Page cannot be added as a new Item - Visual Studio 2010

Background:
I used to have VS2010 Professional. Upgraded to VS2010 Ultimate. Installed SP1. Installed MVC3, MVC3 Tools Update
I'm currently working on some custom Orchard modules, and for some reason, I don't see Razor as an installed template. But if I fire up a new ASP.NET MVC3 app, I see it. Has anyone ran into this issue. I've tried uninstalling MVC3 and Tools Update. No luck. Is there something obvious I'm missing?
MVC3 app - as you can see MVC3 View Page (Razor) is available...
From an Orchard Module:
Have you tried to install the Razor engine as a NuGet Package for this solution? Open Package Manager Console (View - Other windows) and enter
Install-Package RazorEngine
Is the System.Web.Mvc.dll included in the references?
For me editing the project file and adding the value {E3E379DF-F4C6-4180-9B81-6769533ABE47} in front of the others guid's for <projecttypeguids> solved the problem.

Error setting up S#arp Architecture 1.6 project from the Visual Studio 2010 project template in a 64bit O/S

I'm trying to get a brand new Sharp Architecture 1.6 project set up. My environment is Windows 7 64bit, running Visual Studio 2010. I have followed the instructions provided in the VS2010_ReadMe.txt.
In VS2010 I do File | New | Project, select S#arp Architecture Application, give it a name and hit 'OK'. And I receive the following errors:
"A problem was encountered creating the sub project 'sharptest.Core'. A project with that name is already opened in the solution."
"A problem was encountered creating the sub project 'sharptest.ApplicationServices'. A project with that name is already opened in the solution."
... (it continues like this for each project)
I have not found any clear documentation regarding this issue. I would appreciate help from someone who has successfully gotten a project based on the sharp architecture project template up and running successfully on a 64bit O/S running vs2010. Thanks.
I had the same issue. However, my issue was resolved from creating the project in a different folder. I receive the error when I try to create the solution in
C:\Users\Sam\Documents\Visual Studio 2010\Projects\TestProject
Changing this to
C:\Code\TestProject
and I don't receive the error.
Do you have any subversion programs like AnkhSVN installed? It would be worth uninstalling this and trying again. Best advice I can offer.

Visual Studio 2010 error: Type universe cannot resolve assembly

I've loaded a WPF project initially created in Visual Studio 2008 into Visual Studio 2010. The conversion process goes smoothly, but on certain XAML files the VS2010 designer throws several errors related to project references, including this one:
System.Reflection.Adds.UnresolvedAssemblyException
Type universe cannot resolve assembly: GalaSoft.MvvmLight, Version=3.0.0.31869, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=3e875cdb3903c512.
This assembly reference works just fine in the Expression Blend 4 designer, but not in VS2010.
I can build and run the solution successfully.
My solution targets the .Net Framework 3.5 SP1.
I can't quite tell if you're having the same problem I had or not, but I was getting that type universe error all the time with the Ninject .dll. I solved it by "Unblocking" the zip file before extracting it. I think this only affects Vista and Win 7 dev machines but it's worth a try. I posted a blog entry last week with details on the error and the solution. Scroll down to the "Foiled by a Blockhead" section.
Check which version of the MVVM Light assemblies you are referencing.
When you install the MVVM Light Toolkit binaries, you get separate WPF 3.5 and WPF 4 versions. You can find the WPF 4 assemblies (assuming default install location) in
c:\Program Files\Laurent Bugnion (GalaSoft)\Mvvm Light Toolkit\Binaries\WPF4
I found a workaround, but I'm not happy with it. If I change the target framework setting for the project from ".NET Framework 3.5" to ".NET Framework 4 Client Profile" the designer works just fine. But I'd rather not change my target framework just to get designer support!
