CMake for CodeBlocks under windows - windows

I'm trying to use CMake to code with CodeBlocks under Windows.
Inside Cygwin console I do :
cmake .. -G"CodeBlocks - Unix Makefiles"
and output is :
CMake Error: CMake was unable to find a build program corresponding to "Unix Makefiles". CMAKE_MAKE_PROGRAM is not set. You probably need to select a different build tool.
CMake Error: Error required internal CMake variable not set, cmake may be not be built correctly.
Missing variable is:

CMake Error: Error required internal CMake variable not set, cmake may be not be built correctly.
Missing variable is:

CMake Error: Error required internal CMake variable not set, cmake may be not be built correctly.

CMake Error: CMAKE_C_COMPILER not set, after EnableLanguage
CMake Error: CMAKE_CXX_COMPILER not set, after EnableLanguage
-- Configuring incomplete, errors occurred!
I tried to set those problematic variables, but result is the same :
set CMAKE_MAKE_PROGRAM=C:/Progra~2/CodeBlocks/MinGW/bin/mingw32-make.exe
set CMAKE_C_COMPILER=C:/Progra~2/Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0/VC/bin/cl.exe
set CMAKE_CXX_COMPILER=C:/Progra~2/Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0/VC/bin/cl.exe
Any ideas how to make it work ?
Edit : adding the path to the compiler helps, but there's still an error :

Maybe you installed the 'basic setup' from 'MinGW Installation Manager'. As it does not install the GNU C++ compiler with package name- 'mingw-gcc-g++'you should select its 'bin' and 'dev' and install manually. This worked for me.

for me following worked:
downloaded codeblocks-17.12mingw-setup.
added path to /MinGW/bin
hint: DONT INSTALL TO PATH WITH SPACES IN IT
in my case C:\Program Files (x86)\CodeBlocks\MinGW\bin dont worked for some projects.
when using c:\codeblocks... they work
in cmake use "CodeBlocks - MinGW Makefiles"
then open project.cbp

Make sure the directory with compilers(MinGw-gcc.exe or something similar) is in the PATH, after that start console one more time and try to run cmake again.

CMake using two different NDK, why is it broken?

I am trying to build the ceres-library on android.
I am following the instructions been given on the website, but I got stuck with an error and I don't understand why.
I am not an expert in building tools so I do apologize if my question is trivial but I'd like to know why it's not working.
Essentially what happens is that cmake for some reason is using the NDK I've installed with android studio but also the NDK that comes with visual studio if you enable the android development features.
My question first of all is why is using it both? (I would assume I have something broken in my setup but I cannot manage to fix it).
The command line I've been running is the following:
cmake -DCMAKE_TOOLCHAIN_FILE="C:\Users\l.gagliano\AppData\Local\Android\Sdk\ndk\16.1.4479499\build\cmake\android.toolchain.cmake" -DEigen3_DIR=D:\DEV\ceres\eigen\build -DANDROID_ABI=arm64-v8a -DANDROID_STL=c++_shared -DANDROID_NATIVE_API_LEVEL=android-21 -DBUILD_SHARED_LIBS=ON -DMINILOG=ON D:\DEV\ceres\ceres-solver-2.1.0
But I get the following output:
-- Detecting C compiler ABI info
-- Detecting C compiler ABI info - failed

The command line comes from the example given in the Ceres Android section.
Obviously my end goal, apart from understanding the error, is actually fixing it so any suggestion would be appreciated.
This sorted:
cmake -G "Visual Studio 16" -A arm64 -DCMAKE_PREFIX_PATH=D:\DEV\ceres\gflags\build-gflags -DCMAKE_TOOLCHAIN_FILE="C:\Users\l.gagliano\AppData\Local\Android\Sdk\ndk\16.1.4479499\build\cmake\android.toolchain.cmake" -DEigen3_DIR=D:\DEV\ceres\eigen\build -DANDROID_ABI=arm64-v8a -DANDROID_STL=c++_shared -DANDROID_NATIVE_API_LEVEL=android-21 -DBUILD_SHARED_LIBS=ON -DMINIGLOG=ON D:\DEV\ceres\ceres-solver-2.1.0
Mainly the -G "Visual Studio 16" -A arm64 was the big deal.

MinGW gcc isn't able to compile a simple test program(same with cygwin) in CLion

I've just installed CLion and i needed compiler. I installed Cygwin.
But there was an error:
CMake Error: Could not find CMAKE_ROOT !!!
CMake has most likely not been installed correctly.
Modules directory not found in
CMake Error: Error executing cmake::LoadCache(). Aborting.
Error code: 1
So, CMake was "bundled" and i tried to install it from site. But there was the next error:
Selected CMake might be incompatible with the Cygwin environment.
In order to run on Cygwin, CMake needs to be specially compiled.
Please select either CMake bundled with CLion or CMake from the Cygwin installation.

Then i've tried to install MinGW - this time it was the following problem:

In both cases it's problems with paths, i think. I tried to give root to CLion, gcc, etc. - nothing.
I've tried to find logs or just way to this path - but all was worthless - path doesn't exist.I just can't find out, why that's happening.
Help me, please
Looks like there is a problem with encodings somewhere between windows/cygwin/clion/cmake (I assume you user name is non-ascii).
As a quick workaround try:
installing CLion in the location without non-latin symbols
changing CLion's system and config folders to the location without non-latin symbols. instructions
And to troubleshoot the problem, could you please check if the cygwin's console shows the user home path correctly? (e.g. use ls /cygdrive/c/Users/, then cd to the user home path).
If Cygwin can correctly work with the user home, could you please file a bug report and attach CLion's log files? (Help | Show Log in Explorer)

Why is this happening? Is there an environment variable I have to set? I saw in some Ubuntu projects, the variable CUDA_TOOKIT_ROOT_DIR had to be set. However, I set it to what I believe should be the proper location (C:\Program Files\NVIDIA GPU Computing Toolkit\CUDA\v8.0) and this didn't seem to do anything. What do I need to set?
Without a project() call, most of the CMake commands do not work. And find_package() is one of them.
Usually, only set() commands may precede project() call, all other commands should follow it:
cmake_minimum_required(VERSION 3.0)
project(MyProject) # <-- This defines many internal CMake variables, required for other commands.
find_package(CUDA REQUIRED)
For me, it happened because I used add_subdirectory() for a library containing CUDA code before the enable_language(CUDA) in the root CMakeLists.txt file.

I found a post related to this warning but unlike the poster of that question I am not writing a GUI application. As I am new to using CMake I don't know how to make my linker flags correct. As this is just a warning in my CMake I can go ahead an finish the CMake anyway. The trouble is when I try to build my application I get the following compiler error:

What I am asking is how do the warning that I get when running my CMake leading to the compiler error? If so how do I resolve the warning (editing the flags)? If not is it important to address the warning (or can I just ignore it) and what should I be doing to prevent the compiler error?
I resolved my cmake error by identifying some linux specific includes which windows did not know what to do with (things relating to CPACK). This however did not resolve the errors I got when I tried to build, answering my question as to whether the two were related.
The problem when I was building is that QT is not properly set up to build on this system (the environmental variables for libraries ect. were not set). This had not been a problem before building on this machine as previously using qmake it had used the microsoft visual compiler. So to resolve my error I ran my cmake manually outside of QT then opened the solution file in Visual C++.
