I've been trying to figure out this problem for a while now and I thought I'd ask it here on stackexchange in case somebody out there has tried this and successfully got it to work.
I'm trying to install a RAD webapp tool called AppFlower through Xampp for Linux.
I am also experiencing issues with the command below:
symfony afs:init
symfony: command not found
This is the final command used to start up the AppFlower Studio dev environment, but this command doesn't work.
I have tried using:
./symfony afs:init
Same error as above
php ./symfony afs:init
gives a php error saying it isn't installed, but this is Xampp for Linux, so that command won't apply
/opt/lampp/etc/php.ini ./symfony afs:init
it will give a permission denied error, but even with 'sudo' in front, it says 'command not found'
The solution posted on the appflower forum is for xampp itself, but the problem I have is that they use the php.exe command to run the 'symfony afs:init' command, which xampp for linux doesn't have. The closest thing I could think of was to use the php.ini file, but (as seen above) that doesn't work.
Hopefully somebody can assist regarding this issue.

Note. The process to run appflower on a manual version of lamp (one in which php, mysql, apache are all downloaded separately) is a lot more complex and the xampp installation is supposed to be much easier (in fact it is) but at the last point of this installation, this 'symfony afs:init' command is the only problem.
If you are already using Linux, why not install AppFlower directly. It's pretty straightforward, maybe i lost something on the way, understanding why you use XAMMP for Linux.

And followed these instructions to install https://mjml.io/download
But whenever I want to use ./node_modules/.bin/mjml index.mjml or mjml index.mjml I get the following error:
Command 'sed' is available in '/bin/sed'
The command could not be located because '/bin' is not included in the
PATH environment variable.
sed: command not found
/usr/bin/env: 'node': No such file or directory
I have no idea what I'm doing wrong and Google hasn't been helpful so far.

Seems you have messed your PATH environment variable. The sed program is there as is part of the core packages. You can try to do something like the mentioned here.
Also try to reach the mjml support group in slack
I think you have not installed node properly. Try reinstalling it.
If you reinstalled the node and then also you are facing the problem then there is some problem with Windows because a few days ago I was facing a problem when I was running the npm run build command then I switch to my Virtual box Linux OS there it works fabulously.
Looking for some assistance with Vagrant, for what I believe is a Server Variable issue.
I have been trying all weekend to get any kind of Vagrant install up and running. I have followed:
Laravel Homestead installation guide, and
Sitepoint Homestead Vagrant VM guide.
I am using the default folders for install. Whatever I do, after installing Vagrant, I am unable to run 'vagrant up' or vagrant init' because the command 'vagrant' cannot be found (bash: vagrant: command not found). I am trying to execute from the folder with Vagrantfile in it, as suggested by Sitepoint.
I found this Stack Overflow article: Vagrant Command Stopped Working: Command not Found on Windows, but with the current version doesn't work as that bin folder is empty (note that the 'embedded' folder beside it is full, with several 'bin' folders down within the subfolder structure).
I am not familiar enough with Vagrant to know to which folder I should set the server variable, if indeed that is the right answer. It has to be simple, as no sites address this particular issue anywhere. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
Win 7, Vagrant 2.1.2, Virtualbox 5.2.14
At the time of writing, Vagrant v2.1.2 is missing vagrant.exe in the i686.msi file.
There are two parts to this answer.
In GitBash, run commands with .\ preceeding the filename(ie .\vagrant up). See earlier comments for the credit for this answer.
Missing executable has been raised as an issue on Github. Without the executable, it, of course, was throwing a command not found error. https://github.com/hashicorp/vagrant/issues/10026?_pjax=%23js-repo-pjax-container

Trying to install Vagrant on Windows 7 X64 with installer from Vagrant - vagrant_1.7.0.msi
Installation goes fine, however unable to use vagrant. On any command, for example vagrant -v the below is shown:
Failed to find Vagrant!
What I did:
Googled. Only 1 link with such an error on github regarding to installer. Not sure if this is relevant.
Checked that vagrant in PATH. Yes it is. Otherwise it would not start at all.
Reinstalled, and repaired - few times.
All the above with no luck. Any idea where to dig?

just to add my own version of this problem too:
i installed version 1.7.0
error message after a "vagrant up": "Failed to find Vagrant!"
checked paths, other environment variables in win7, should work..
so i uninstalled it and installed an older version (1.6.5)
and yes, the older version solved the problem.
i got it from their official website: https://www.vagrantup.com/download-archive/v1.6.5.html
i guess the problem was in this file:

Same Issue on Windows 7 64.
Downgraded back to Vagrant 1.6.5

This is what I see listed at their site:
The installer will automatically add vagrant to your system path so that it is available in terminals. If it is not found, please try logging out and logging back in to your system (this is particularly necessary sometimes for Windows).
Please try running it from Git Bash too and let me know if it works for you.
And if you still run into issues, try using an older version of vagrant https://www.vagrantup.com/download-archive/v1.6.5.html

I wanted to try Zend Framework2. I found this link http://framework.zend.com/downloads/skeleton-app and decided to try it. After that, I downloaded repository with example application https://github.com/zendframework/ZendSkeletonApplication to C:\Sites\zf2\www. Guide says, that I need to open windows cmd and run some commands.
php.exe composer.phar self-update
php.exe composer.phar install
First opened ok and I checked for updates. But when I run install command I got this error:
10053 An established connection was aborted by the software in your host machine can't download zend
I thought that windows firewall or KIS may block it, turn them off, but nothing happened. I still can't run this command.
How can I solve this problem?

May be there are no problems with composer.phar and some programm blocks this connection?
I tried to connect directly to internet (I use router) - same error.
Also, I turned off KIS firewall and windows firewall - same result.
What can block it?
I had the same issue and after much frustration I nailed it down to a filtering software called "k9 web protection". It didn't help if I disabled the filter, I had to uninstall it.
I tried it on a few computers and the results were all the same. On 32 bit windows there was no issue but on 64 bit windows I had to uninstall k9, otherwise I continued getting this error.
I have a fresh install of cygwin and xemacs on my home laptop. I'm trying to get to the packages list in xemacs, but not having much luck.
First of all I was getting an error message telling me "ftp.XXX.com seems not a pty". Following the instructions here I was able to tell efs to use lftp, and got past that error.
Now I get told:
Process not open for writing: #<process "*ftp yyy#ftp.xxx.org*" pid 9999 state:exit>
Any idea what's going on there?
The problem has to do with which ftp you are using. From the message, I believe you are trying to use the ftp that comes with Windows. It won't work as the native Windows ftp does not act like a pty.
The best solution I can suggest is to install the Cygwin port of ftp.
