I need to use Xcode like a general purpose editor. For example I need to open file .txt, .project, etc etc… If I open one file at time all go well, but I need to put other files in new tabs.
I tried
cmd+t
but the new tab has exactly the same text as the first tab…
and if I open an other file with a double click, it open a new Windows and not a new tab…
there is a solution?

Command+T will open up a new tab with the same file, then you can navigate to a new file and open that one up in either tab.
XCode will not be able to assume what file you want to open in the new tab and it doesn't want to open an empty tab, so it opens the current file in the new tab.
For XCode 10, right click on the file, select Open in New Tab.
I don't know when it was added.

Sadly JetBrains Toolbox App does not provide such functionality. Only standalone installer has an option to make them right now. You will have to either use that... or create such entries manually.

To add an entry to the Windows Explorer's right-click menu:
you can use FileTypesMan by NirSoft or a similar tool.
or create such entry manually, e.g. see this comment for a basic .bat file: https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IDEA-114307#comment=27-2125363 (at very least it lists Registry keys where to create such an entry).

Click Open on the Welcome screen or select File | Open from the main menu.
In the Select Path dialog, select the directory that contains the project to open.
Drag the desired project from your file chooser right to the Open Project dialog without locating it there. The respective file in the dialog will be found automatically.
Specify whether you want to open the project in a new window, close the current project and reuse the existing window, or open the new project in the same window with the current one. Refer to the Opening multiple projects section for details.
and for the command line you could use this :
<PhpStorm> <path_to_the_project folder>

How can I open the containing folder of an open file in Sublime Text 3 in OSX? Prefer an answer that shows me where the menu option is, rather than setting up a command-line.
Some other posts I've searched suggest right-clicking the file and selecting the Open Containing Folder option, but I don't see it on mine...
What you read is correct, but you may be falling afoul of the fact that the context menu that you get when you right click on the file tab is different than the one that you get if you right click in the file itself and, counter-intuitively, the option for opening the containing folder (or copying the path of the file to the clipboard) only appears in the file context menu.
The option you want is Reveal in Finder, which is near the bottom of the menu (note that my menu may be slightly different than yours depending on installed packages):
Just downloaded Xcode 10.1. I have Preferences->Navigation->Double Click Navigation set to 'Uses Seperate Window' as I usually do. However double clicking any file in the project opens a window but the contents of that window is the wrong file. Whichever file I double click on, the same incorrect file opens. If I change double clicking to open in a tab, the correct file is opened...
The problem appears to be just one project.
Have tried a 'Clean Build Folder' to no avail

I open the project using the xxxx.xcworkspace (as I have pods in the project).
If I open a new window and view a specific file there then go back to my window with the list of files and double click that file, the correct window is brought to the front with the correct file visible.
Same here. For me it's the Readme.md file that is added at the top level of the project (not inside a group). Removing the reference from the project or putting the top level file(s) in a group (folder) fixed the issue.
I have recently switched from my beloved BBEdit to TextMate because of the amazing set of features TextMate's bundles provide.
However, in BBEdit I was able to create a new file within a project window without having to save it first, while TextMate forces me to save the file before going any further. Is there any way to avoid this behaviour?
you can go from the menu with "File/New from template" this will create an Untitled file to the specified template that is not saved. However it is not in the project/project window that you currently have open. But if you think about it that is correct as if the file has not been saved TM would not know where to place it till you save it.
With Textmate 2, you can use File -> New Tab (option + command + N).
Really saving it is the only way.
To save a file in the specific directory tree:
click on the directory you want the new file to be in
press Option+Command+N
now you can Command+S
It will have that directory path.
I have this issue with textmate where it opens up a file in a new window, but not a tab. thereby its harder to navigate and also disables me from using tcmtags on that new file. Has anyone ever ran into this issue? I suspected it was some type of setting that got messed up, but opening any other file traditionally with the point and click will open in a new tab. So why does it screw up using tcmtags?

I just had this problem with the Latex bundle in a newly created project. The Latex bundle had a macro that was using the 'open' command.
Quitting and reopening TextMate solved it for me. Files now open in a new tab rather than new window.
Only Projects have tabs in Textmate afaik. So create a new project e.g. by dropping a folder on the TextMate Icon in dock. The files in this folder will open in tabs.
The issue is that my files are in a project. It's the bundle that has the issue. Jumping to a definition source in a different file opens the file in a new window as opposed to a new tab. All the files are in the same project.
No one else I know has this issue.
