I've commited a quite bad mistake re-writing and then saving a crucial .cs file.
Pressed CTRL+A (select all), pasted the new content and that's it. My bad. (of course, I thought it was CheckX.aspx.cs when it really was Check.aspx.cs)
Gonna pay more attention to names and re-think the way I name files, but as of now I'd like to know if there's any way I can retrieve all the .cs that I've deleted.
Thanks in advance

this is really stupid question but I just downloaded Visual Studio and it's really driving me crazy. Lets say I made a mistake somewhere in code and want to edit it, when I click on that part there is grey thing highlighting the number or letter I am currently on but when i try to add something it is just deleting everything on its path, so if I want to add something i have to retype everything that comes next, here is screenshot because I can't explain it very well..
Lets say I wanted to separate fi from le but instead it removed my i and if I keep pressing space it will also remove l and e.
Thanks in advance
Sometimes it is very convenient to open a storyboard as source and edit the xml. Almost exclusively I will be moving things around. For instance: I will change the order of the scenes in the document outline.
Whenever I cut from one spot and then paste into another all of the line indentation is lost; all lines begin in column 0. I must then tediuosly restore the indentation with a series of select -> Cmd-] operations.
Does anyone know how to prevent this and/or how to easily restore the indentation?
I am trying to change the default new item extension from ".h" to ".hpp".
The picture of this post shows what I mean.
I already got it functionally working with this approach, by changing:
the ..\VC\vcprojectitems\hfile.h filename to hfile.hpp,
"HFile.h..." to "HFile.hpp..." in the ..\VC\vcprojectitems\VCProjectItems.vsdir file
"..\HFile.h..." to "..\HFile.hpp..." in the ..\VC\vcprojectitems\Code\code.vsdir file
"..\VCProjectItems\HFile.h..." to "..\VCProjectItems\HFile.hpp..." in the ..VC\VCNewItems\NewItems.vsdir file
What is now left is the description. You can see it on the picture and it should be "Header File(.hpp)" instead of "Header File(.h)" How/Where do I change this?
I know it is such a little thing and it doesn't affect the functionality, but I want it nevertheless. Also is my approach a good one with changing those files or is there a better way of doing this?
Thank you!
I've used control+command+left, but it goes to the last modified file, not the last modified line in this file.
Anyone knows the hotkey for going to last modified place in xcode4? Thx
Not sure if there is a direct way to do this, but I use a command+z and ctrl+command+z to take me to the last modified location. (Undo/Redo in short, but works no matter where you are)
Silly questions... purely aesthetic... given the picture above. How do you move the values up/down? For example, State belongs grouped with Height/Width/Top/Left (Window Position + state).
Not the only project where I later add stuff and it slowly gets out of order. Can delete/re-add, but that gets tedious and error prone. Can just leave it as is, but it's a minor annoyance.
Am I totally not seeting the setting somewhere to move the stuff around, because I've looked and I just don't see it.
Close the solution. Open the project's Properties\Settings.settings file and re-arrange the <Setting> items. You'll get them back listed in the Settings Designer in the order in which they are listed in that file.
As the other answers indicate you need to edit the sequence of the entries in the Properties\Settings.settings file. You do not need to close VS, just close the Properties tab if it is open.
Also this will not re-arrange the XML entries in you .config file. For that you need to re-arrange the entries in your app.config file, that is created in your root project folder.
Both files are simple XML based files.
You can't move things around in that screen. It's loaded and saved by the "natural" order. Meaning that new things are placed at the bottom.
