Using Xpath queries to perform complex code reviews - xpath

I need PMD for processing the following statements using XPath.
1.before end of most outer try block there must be fillTrasactionStatus()
2.most outer try should have two catch with fatalException & throwable, having logException and fillTransactioStatus()
3.Interaction.begin() & fetchTransactionStatus() should be the first (This should be in their start of every public method exposed via interface)
My approach for the 1st question was...

But how do I ensure that its for the outermost try block.

Xpath Part NULL, with xpaths set via content control toolkit

I've been able to set, via code, the xpaths for the placeholders found in the document.

The problem is that, once set, they are not recognized by word, so I thought to add the created Xpaths to a new XpathPart, and then add it to the main Document part.
But I failed because the method:
wordMLPackage.getMainDocumentPart().getXPathsPart()
returns null. This sounded reasonable, since only content control was set, without any Xpath.
Then I set the Xpaths via content control toolkit and the same line of code like above, returned me null, which added a lot of confusion in my yet confused ideas.
Is there any way to tell the document that new Xpath have been added to the document?
I mean, if there is a way to add Xpath via code (the w:databinding w:storedItemId tags), why it is not possible to make it work?
In general I want to add Xpath and all information necessary, via code, avoiding the use of any toolkit.

First, you have to decide whether you want plain old Word databinding, or the additional OpenDoPE capabilities (which use the content control tag to support repeats, conditionals etc).
You only need an XPaths part if you are using the OpenDoPE extensions.
I'll assume for now that you are just looking to do basic Word content control databinding.
To set that up programmatically, you need to add a custom xml part, and a rel from it to its itemProps.xml part, which contains something like:

(to add a part B to part A, use partA.addTargetPart)
You can see it is this part with gives the custom xml part its itemID; this corresponds with the value you set in:
DataBinding db = factory.createXpathsXpathDataBinding();
db.setStoreItemID("something");
Then, set the XPath via the method you were using.

Cannot call .Count() IEnumerable extensions from lua script using nula

So I have a little lua script where I want to call an extension method on IEnumerable collection.

So GetAudioMarkers() is a C# method returning an IEnumerable of AudioMarker objects. Doing a luanet.each will work fine and I will be able to iterate to every element of the collection. But I need the count of that collection and calling .Count() does the following error:
NLua.Exceptions.LuaScriptException: [string "chunk"]:54: attempt to call field 'Count' (a string value).
By the way, I know that with nlua you don't need to pre-register your types to used them so I try with and without the last import about AudioMarker, but got the same result.
I'm probably doing something wrong but I cannot seem to find any documentation on the web that could help regarding this issue.
I have been trying to use the IEnumerable<T>.ToList() extension method myself, but testing reveals that NLua has some problems with generic methods.. Calling a method of the form void func<T>(<T> arg) is possible if you register it as a lua function (Lua.RegisterFunction), but if you try to call the same method on an object present in lua state, you get the "attempt to call method..." error. Also, a method of the form void func<T>(IEnumerable<T> arg) will fail in both cases with a NullReferenceException and the "attempt to call method..." error, respectively.
Another point is, if you want to call C# extension methods from Lua, you need the ":" syntax, not "." (see the NLua "TestExtensionMethods" unit test).

SoapUI XPath assertion with wildcards

Is there a way to use a wildcard inside an assertion in a XPath test with SoapUI?
I took a look at SoapUI's documentation and they say you can do something like this

I checked the 'Allow Wildcards' checkbox.
My question is : I want to assert my date starts with 2012-08-22 but i dont care about the minutes and seconds. I guess my the expression should be something like 2012-08-22* but it doesn't work.
What you are doing sounds like it should work. Here is a quick example i cooked up using a rest service from http://www.geonames.org/export/web-services.html#timezone. I'm using the demo they have supplied

If you do an xpath match on the result and use the select from current button you get

If you update this to

this will work fine and when updating the rest request with a new lat and lng the assertion will still pass since it is not checking the time. If this doesn't help, please supply your full assertion and maybe i could help more.
*note: for soap requests, make sure to declare the namespace and then use the proper format

It will be sort of a pain, but here is what you can do:
1) Figure out an Xpath 'base' using the assertion tab (sounds like you are here already). I used this public site to test against: http://graphical.weather.gov/xml/DWMLgen/wsdl/ndfdXML.wsdl
I used the CornerPoints method with 'hawaii' as the single param.
I created this 'base' xpath:

(it will write the declare statements for you if you click declare)
(which you can test out in the assertions window)
2) Create a Properties step
3) Create a Property transfer step
4) Create a groovy script
5) add a property... i called mine misc
6) add a transfer step
* transfer from the CornerPoints - Request 1 --- Response
* paste the Xpath stuff in the box under the 'transfer from'
* Transfer to your property
(You can test with the little play button)
7) Add something like this to your groovy script:

In the groovy step you can do anything you need to get at your (partial) data. The sample code I added gets lat/lons out of a long line wrapped in CDATA and then checks for just the starting part of some of the data.. just an example.

DbLimitExpression requires a collection argument

Does anyone have the faintest idea what this error means please and how to resolve it? All my research is drawing a blank, I can see how to set it on MSDN but it doesn't explain it in a way that explains to me what the issue is. If I remove some of my LINQ queries to set viewbag items then it seems to resolve it but the moment I set new ones and pass them into my view to generate a mail for MVCMailer it comes back. Not sure if its a viewbag issue or simply that I am calling too many linq queries to generate them to pass to the view.
I am very stuck (again)..........

An example of the code is:

This is repeated for various parameters and then passed to the view.
Well, I faced a similar problem and solved it. Problem was in WHERE clause: data type of left side equal operator (=) sign was not matching with data type of right side. So in your scenario:
where A.SalutationId == policytransaction.SalutationId
SalutationID of A might be an INT and SalutationId of policytransaction might be a string (This is how it was in my case).
I solved it by assigning policytransaction.SalutationId to an Int variable and using it:
int myIntVariable = Convert.ToInt16(policytransaction.SalutationId);
...//some code here
where A.SalutationId == myIntVariable;
Please also note that you cannot directly cast your variables directly in Linq else you'll get an error "LINQ to Entities does not recognize the method". You'll have to use a temp variable and then apply the where clause.
Try ViewBag.Salutation = VBSalutation.SingleOrDefault();

"could not instantiate" NHibernate.QueryException Raise By Combined Linq Query

Executing the following NHibernate.Linq statement raises a "could not instantiate: Reservation001.Services.ReservationDto" NHibernate.QueryException containing an inner InvalidCast exception ("Object must implement IConvertible."):

However, after splitting the above into two queries, with ToList() called on the results of the first, the code executes fine.

Why does the single statement version raise an exception?

The reason that the first one does not work is because the whole query is getting sent to NHibernate, and (as the exception tells you) NHibernate expects something with ReservationDto to be IConvertible.
The two step process avoids this error, because by calling "ToList()" you cause the query to execute in NHibernate immediately without involving ReservationDto, and returning an object collection. Your second step is then simply operating on an object collection, and since NHibernate is no longer involved, you avoid the error.
