I was wondering how to go about having post content hidden, and once you click the title having the content slide down via AJAX (hopefully using Wordpress built in AJAX). I was on here yesterday and this community was nice enough to help me make it work with JQuery(thanks again), but I was wondering if it would be possible to have the hidden content only load when the title is clicked, instead of having a bunch of hidden content load at once. That way everything would run much smoother.
Here is the JQuery code:
<script type="text/javascript">
jQuery(document).ready(function($) {
$(".event-info").hide();
$(".event-title").click(function() {
var eventInfo = $(this).parent().children(".event-info");
$('.event-info').not(eventInfo).slideUp();
eventInfo.slideToggle();
});
});
</script>
Html:
<div class="event-title">Click on title here to load content</div>
<div class="event-info">content hidden/shown here</div>
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
The best way is to create a function
try something like this
in your fucntions.php
function PostAjax()
{
if(have_posts()) : while(have_posts()) : the_post();
//Loop content here etc.
endwhile; endif; wp_reset_query();
}
// creating Ajax call for WordPress
add_action('wp_ajax_nopriv_PostAjax', 'PostAjax');
add_action('wp_ajax_PostAjax', 'PostAjax');
In your header or footer
jQuery(".event-title").click(function(){
jQuery.ajax({
type: 'GET',
url: '<?php echo admin_url('admin-ajax.php');?>',
data: {
action: 'PostAjax',
MyParam: 'MyParamValue'
},
success: function(textStatus){
$( '.event-info' ).html( textStatus );
},
error: function(MLHttpRequest, textStatus, errorThrown){
alert(errorThrown);
}
});
});
});
and your HTML
<div class="event-title">Click on title here to load content</div>
<div class="event-info"></div>

I am stuck in this like I have never before.
My situation : I am making a shopping cart. When user click "Add" button, it posts the form and in the server side i.e inside if(IsPost){....}, corresponding item gets added to the the the cart table in my database.
Everything is fine, except it reloads the page and scrolls back to top. With a little research, I got to know that may be Ajax could help. Then I created a new .cshtml page add-to-cart.cshtnl. Now my current page doesn't reload but it opens add-to-cart.cshtml which is not how I wanted. Now I even tried to learn AJAX and try doing things looking at examples. Nothing helps. Please help!
Here is what my code looks like : P.S I am using razor in webmatrix.
<form method="post" id="productForm" action="~/add-to-cart.cshtml">
<input ............"Input Something.............../>
<button type="submit" id="add-button" >ADD</button>
</form>
At my add-to-cart.cshtml, I don't have anything on the UI. It just processes data.I don't want that page to ever load. It looks something like this:
ifIsPost(){
............ADD item to the cart table of database..............
}
Now I am convinced, AJAX is my solution but how????
Please don't give me incomplete answers. I have already wasted 3 days in it :/
Try this
$('#productForm').submit(function(e) {
e.preventDefault();
$.ajax({
type: 'POST',
url: $(this).attr('action'),
data : $(this).serialize(),
success : function(response) {
//write your code here
},
error : fucntion(response) {
//write your code here
}
});
});
Put this script into <script> tag.
Note: Don't forgot to include jquery in your page.
Here is the complete working solution :
$(function () {
$('#productForm').submit(function (ev) {
var frm = $(this);
$.ajax({
type: frm.attr('method'),
url: frm.attr('action'),
data: frm.serialize(),
success: function (data) {
//Do What Ever You Wanna Do
}
});
ev.preventDefault();
});
});
I know it has been given some answers but I will go for it :). As the title says i want to add popover bootstrap but with ajax loaded content. my html, but i want a Loading message to appear first and then the content.
<p class='entry' data-adjaxload = '/calendar/entry/1'>Title1</p>
<p class='entry' data-adjaxload = '/calendar/entry/2'>Title2</p>
<p class='entry' data-adjaxload = '/calendar/entry/3'>Title3</p>
my django view is the following
def entry_details(request, entry_id):
entry = get_object_or_404(Entry, pk=entry_id)
args = dict(entry=entry, user=request.user)
if request.is_ajax():
return render_to_response('mycal/ajax/entry_details.html', args)
else:
entry_form = EntryForm(instance=entry)
args.update(entry_form=entry_form)
return render_to_response('mycal/entry_details.html', args)
Pretty simple. I am using the same view to either load html content via ajax in the popover, or a details page via normal get request
the ajax details page:
<div class="entry">
<p>{{entry.title}}</p>
<p>{{entry.date}}</p>
<p>{{entry.customer}}</p>
</div>
and the script
$(document).ready(function(){
$('p.entry').each(function (){
var i = $(this);
$(i).bind('mouseenter', function(){
i.popover({
html:True,
title:i.html(),
content:'Loading'
}).popover('show');
$.ajax({
url:i.data('ajaxload'),
dataType:'html',
success:function (data){
i.popover({content:data}).popover('show');
}
});
});
$(i).bind('mouseleave', function(){
i.popover('hide');
});
});
});
But whilst it does run tha ajx and fetches the html, it won't load them onto the popover. How can I change that?
Just fiddled what you are looking for with popover content being updated dynamically using echo/json.
Just roll over the p element and wait for the 3 second delay.
If as you say, the data is being loaded properly then the only change needed is:
var popover = i.data('popover');
popover.options.content = data.text;
i.popover('show');

I get a
ReferenceError: ajax is not defined
error in browser console when I try to make an ajax call.
I'm pretty sure I properly loaded the jQuery library, therefore I don't understand how can the $.ajax function not be defined.
Here is the HTML (without irrelevent css and markup):
<html>
<head>
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.10.2/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="js/script.js"></script>
</head>
<body>
<div>
<a class="getUsersA">Get users</a>
<div id="gridD"></div>
</div>
</body>
</html>
Here is the script.js file:
$(document).ready(function() {
$(".getUsersA").click(function() {
$.ajax({
url:ajax/getUsers.php,
type:POST,
data:({
id:0
}),
success:function(results) {
$("#gridD").html(results);
}
});
});
});
Thank you for any help!
You need to wrap ajax/getUsers.php, in quotes. or else it would look for a local variable ajax rather than treating it as a string.
url: "ajax/getUsers.php",
Something like this:
$.ajax({
url: 'ajax/getUsers.php',
type: 'POST',
data:({
id: 0
}),
success:function(results) {
$("#gridD").html(results);
}
});
You have a syntax error on this line:
url:ajax/getUsers.php,
Change this to:
url:"ajax/getUsers.php",
You're supposed to be passing a string (or a variable containing a string) as the url option, but you're instead doing:
url:ajax/getUsers.php,
Change it to:
url:'ajax/getUsers.php',
What you have right now is looking for the variable ajax (which doesn't exist) then trying to divide it by the php property of the object referenced by getUsers (which also doesn't exist), and then set the result as the value for the url option.
I am trying to display different forms based on user type using Ajax post request. The request response works fine but I don't know how to display the form. For example, if the user selects parent then I want the parent form to be displayed and so on. I'm using ZF 1.12.
public function init() {
$contextSwitch = $this->_helper->getHelper('AjaxContext');
$contextSwitch =$this->_helper->contextSwitch();
$contextSwitch->addActionContext('index', 'json')
->setAutoJsonSerialization(false)
->initContext();
}
public function indexAction() {
$this->view->user = $this->_userModel->loadUser($userId);
//if($this->_request->isXmlHttpRequest()) {
//$this->_helper->layout->disableLayout();
//$this->_helper->viewRenderer->setNoRender(true);
if ($this->getRequest()->isPost()){
$type = $_POST['type'];
$this->view->userForm = $this->getUserForm($type)->populate(
$this->view->user
);
}
}
And here's what I have on the client side. What do I need to write in the success section?
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function(){
$('#userType').on('change', function(){
var type = $(this).val();
select(type);
});
});
function select(type) {
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "admin/index/",
//Context: document.body,
data: {'type':type},
data: 'format=json',
//dataType: "html",
success: function(data){
// what to do here?
},
error: function(XMLHttpRequest, textStatus, errorThrown) {}
});
}
</script>
<form id="type" name="type" method="post" action="admin/index">
<select name='userType' id='userType' size='30'>
<option>admin</option>
<option>parent</option>
<option>teacher</option>
</select>
</form>
<div id="show">
<?php //echo $this->userForm;?>
</div>
If your ajax request form returns you the HTML from the Zend_Form, you could simply write the HTML in the #show div.
In you view you will need to do this :
echo $this->userForm;
This way, all the required HTML will be written on the server side, before sending the response to the HTML page. In the HTML page you then just have to write the response in the right location with the method $('#show').html(data). You also have to make sure that each of your forms has the right action when you render them.
The other option would be to have all three forms hidden in your page (through Javascript) upon loading and based on the select (Generated with JS), display the right form. This way you don't have to load data from an external source and if someone have JS disabled, he still can use the application. On the other hand, this method will have each page load about 1/2 a KB more of data.
I am learning AJAX in zend framework step by step. I use this question as first step and accepted answer in this question is working for me. Now I want to load more than one DIVs using JSON. Here is my plan.
IndexController.php:
class IndexController extends Zend_Controller_Action {
public function indexAction() { }
public function carAction() { }
public function bikeAction() { }
}
index.phtml:
<script type="text/javascript" src="js/jquery-1.4.2.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="js/ajax.js"></script>
<a href='http://practice.dev/index/car' class='ajax'>Car Image</a>
<a href='http://practice.dev/index/bike' class='ajax'>Bike Image</a>
<div id="title">Title comes here</div>
<div id="image">Image comes here</div>
car.phtml:
<?php
$jsonArray['title'] = "Car";
$jsonArray['image'] = "<img src='images/car.jpeg'>";
echo Zend_Json::encode($jsonArray);
?>
bike.phtml:
<?php
$jsonArray['title'] = "Bike";
$jsonArray['image'] = "<img src='images/bike.jpeg'>";
echo Zend_Json::encode($jsonArray);
?>
ajax.js:
jQuery(document).ready(function(){
jQuery('.ajax').click(function(event){
event.preventDefault();
// I just need a js code here that:
// load "Car" in title div and car2.jped in image div when "Car Image" link clicked
// load "Bike" in title div and bike2.jped in image div when "Bike Image" link clicked
});
});
I think you have got this. When any link with class='ajax' is clicked then it means its AJAX call. index of array(title, image) in phtml files(car.phtml, bike.phtml) show that in which DIV this content should be loaded.
My Question:
Now how to implement ajax.js to do this job if it gets data in json form?
Thanks
Encode JSON using the Zend Framework as
echo Zend_Json::encode($jsonArray);
If you are already using JSON for serialization, then don't send the images in HTML tags. The disadvantage of doing that is basically the JavaScript code cannot do much with the images other than sticking it into the page somewhere. Instead, just send the path to the images in your JSON.
$jsonArray = array();
$jsonArray['title'] = "Hello";
$jsonArray['image'] = "<img src='images/bike.jpg' />";
On the client side, the received JSON will look like:
{
"title": "Hello",
"image": "<img src='images/bike.jpg' />"
}
So the jQuery code needs to loop through key each, and inject a new image into the div with matching key - "image1" or "image2".
jQuery('.ajax').click(function(event) {
event.preventDefault();
// load the href attribute of the link that was clicked
jQuery.getJSON(this.href, function(snippets) {
for(var id in snippets) {
// updated to deal with any type of HTML
jQuery('#' + id).html(snippets[id]);
}
});
});
YOu could encode your json to have two values for example {value1:"data",value2:"data2"}
Then when your ajax returns you can...
jQuery(document).ready(function(){
jQuery('.ajax').click(function(event){
event.preventDefault();
$.ajax({
url: '<Link to script returning json data>',
data:json, //says we are receiving json encoded data
success: function(json) {
$('#div1).html('<img src="'+json.value1+'"/>');
$('#div2).html('<img src="'+json.value2+'"/>');
}
});
});
});
