I have a BizTalk 2010 orchestration which I want to export as a template in Visual Studio 2010, to be used in other BizTalk projects. The template file is created in \My Documents\Visual Studio 2010\Templates\ItemTemplates folder.
I have closed and restarted all instances of Visual Studio. When I try to add a new item to a BizTalk project the new template is not listed.
When I export a C# class though, it works as expected and I can see the new C# template.
Any ideas on what else I need to do to see my new BizTalk Orchestration template?
Try extracting the ODX file from the zip file and putting it in C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft BizTalk Server 2010\Developer Tools\BizTalkProjectItems

Unlike previous versions, Visual Studio 2015 places build-related files in a .vs folder alongside your solution. By default, that includes a new applicationHost.config for web applications.
As stated here, You can edit the web application .csproj/.vbproj file to include <UseGlobalApplicationHostFile>True</UseGlobalApplicationHostFile>, and then it will continue to use %userprofile%\My Documents\IISExpress\config\ApplicationHost.config
But I don't want to change every web application project file. So is there a "template" for the new applicationHost.config that Visual Studio / IIS Express creates?
You can edit the template that Visual Studio uses at %ProgramFiles(x86)%\IIS Express\config\templates\PersonalWebServer\applicationhost.config
How can I create my custom visual studio template based on Office App template?
You can locate the Office Add-in templates in the following directory, then you modify the template as you see fit and then put them in your own template folder.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\Common7\IDE\ProjectTemplates\CSharp\Office\Addins\1033
The template for the Visual Studio App for Office is located in the following directory:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\Common7\IDE\ProjectTemplates\CSharp\Office SharePoint\Apps\1033\SharePoint15OfficeApp
Getting a message box saying The imported project "C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v11.0\Windows Azure Tools\1.4\Microsoft.WindowsAzure.targets" was not found. Confirm that the path in the <Import> declaration is correct, and that the file exists on disk. C:\MyProject\MyProject.ccproj when trying to load a cloud project. This is after uninstalling Visual Studio 2012.
The Visual Studio 2012 uninstaller left behind a settings file in C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\4.0\ that just needs to be deleted.
My solution file contains many projects which consist of many template files and I want regenerate each template after or before build on the project. I know how to do that locally, but I have problem how to do that on build server where Visutal Studio is not installed. Do you have any sollutions?
I know that are two sollutions form this source: Get Visual Studio to run a T4 Template on every build :
a) Visual Studio Visualization and Modeling SDK - i have to install visual studio (except Express Edition) and i can't do that
b) use TextTransform.exe tool, but then I have problems with missing dlls in GAC
Regards
With Visual Studio 2010 SP1 and the Visual Studio Visualization and Modeling SDK for Visual Studio 2010, you're licensed to copy and redistribute the necessary files to do T4 transforms at build time on a build server (note, only a build server, not arbitrary redistribution). You can simply copy these files from a machine with Visual Studio and the SDK installed.
The two license files in question are:
1) buildserver.txt in the Visual Studio install directory
2) redist.txt in the VisualStudioIntegration\Tools\DSLTools directory of the SDK.
I have found solution;)
For regenerate T4 templates file i use solution described by Cheburek from this page Get Visual Studio to run a T4 Template on every build. But if I want to use Cheburek solution on build server without Visual Studio installed I need to add following dll files to GAC, and then everything is OK:)
1) Microsoft.VisualStudio.TextTemplating.10.0.dll
2) Microsoft.VisualStudio.TextTemplating.Interfaces.10.0.dll

How does one change the stored procedure templates for Visual Studio in 2010 2008 database projects? I've tried changing the templates in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\Tools\Templates\Database Project Items. This doesn't seem to affect the stored procedures created from the Add Item wizards in the database project. Am I missing something or does this method of changing stored procedure templates not work anymore? Thanks in advance.
I know it's not the exact answer you're after, but as a workaround you can edit code snippets at C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\VSTSDB\Snippets\1033\Stored Procedure
When you add a new stored proc, remove the default code, right click in the code pane, and select "insert snippet".
I'll keep searching though for how to edit the new item templates though, as it's driving me nuts.
EDIT:
I kept searching, and found it:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\VSTSDB\Extensions\SqlServer\Items
create a project using the existing template.
edit it the way you want.
export the new template.

For Visual Studio 2015 you will find the SQL templates in this location:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 14.0\Common7\IDE\Extensions\Microsoft\SQLDB\Extensions\SqlServer\Items
