Can someone please help me to better understand how NFC-enabled smartphones work? Is it controlled by an app on the smartphone or by the device itself?
Thanks!
NFC stands for Near Field Communication. Apps control the NFC chip/antenna that is built in the phone. So a phone without the NFC hardware, could never have an NFC app work on it. So you do need both in order for it to work.
Basically think of NFC just like bluetooth, only that NFC has an effective range of around 4-5cm and not any further.
I think this like might help: http://www.androidauthority.com/how-it-works-nfc-near-field-communication-97144/
If there is anything else specifically that you don't understand, please say so.

Has anyone here tried integrating the Stripe API on Xamarin.Forms? I've been looking through the internet and I can't find any resources about it. I just started training on Xamarin and I don't know much.
It would be very nice if someone could me with this problem. Thank you!
Simply put the Stripe API will work exactly like on any other platform, with the use of Microsoft.Net.Http and making calls to the rest service.
They are components as well, which are free that you can use.
https://components.xamarin.com/view/stripe
The component is no longer available. Look through this guide to make direct calls to the API. https://xamarinhelp.com/stripe-in-xamarin/

Is it possible to develop a custom Backdrop App for Google Chromecast instead of using Google's Backdrop feature? It doesn't support some features and I have some ideas, so want to see if that is possible. Documentation didn't provide me that information. Thanks.
No, that area is not open to developers to change; users can decide on the source of content there (images from various sources, news, etc) but beyond that, there is no access to backdrop for developers.

I have a few questions for building apps.
Can u make apps using c++?
How do I get an app from my testing environment onto my windows phone 8?
Do I have to worry about cross phone compatibility?
paying $200 to put apps on the marketplace is extremely out of the question. I just want to test my app on my actual phone.
I assume you are trying to develop windows phone 8 apps, and yes you can develop using c++, but you have to read up on async await, as the sdk have tons of it in order to give the fluid user experience.
And the last time I checked, the developer account only costs $25 now
Well Yes!
You need to unlock your Windows Phone to actually test in on a Hardware Device.
You don't need to worry about the compatibility, but you should take note of the High-Res Phones that are in the Market too.

I find myself most of the time needing to copy a piece of text or even a link from my mobile and paste later (when I get out of the bathroom) on my PC.
Do you have the same problem? What are you using to solve this?

As the question already suggests,
I'm trying to figure out, if it's possible to force another Application/process to use a specific output device.
Not every Application has a dropdown menu to select which audio device should be used and therefore always uses the standard device.
But when running multiple applications this isn't always the desired solution.
Plus, even if the application has a device-selection, it's almost always buried deep within the menus.
I was thinking of something like faking the change of the standard-device (but only to one application)
Looking forward for you answers :)
Greetings
Audio Hijack Pro already does this and it works great. Rogue Amoeba are the experts at Mac OS X audio.
