I've searched here and tried many of the suggestions but things seems to have changed since these posts were answered. Is there new information on how to look at the source code of an extension directly? By directly I mean not through some other add-in.
At the moment I am on a machine running Windows XP and Firefox 23.0.1.
When I go to any extension page the "download" button changes to "install" in an instant and no right-clicking or options in the dialog gives me the opportunity to save rather than install the plug-in. I've tried this many times and many different ways.
When I drill down to the ...\Application Data\ ... directories I am finding what just looks like config and data files -- no source code.
What i usually do is go to that extension's page in google chrome and it will show this:
You click "download anyway" and then change the file extension from xpi to zip and extract it.
Hope it helps
EDIT:
Either in Firefox or Chrome you can also right click on the button like in the following image and click Save Link As:

I have a .chm file it works fine on XP but it does not show its content on Windows 7. The Urdu text can not be shown in Windows 7. How can i show its urdu text? only urdu images are shown.
I have also decompiled file keytool and get .hhp file. but what can i do with .hhp file to show urdu font after compile again.
I have also tried to show urdu text by unblock with button inside property but it was not there under advance button.
chm file download link
website address
orignal website
As you can see in this picture the contents are not shown.
Please make sure you have your CHM file on a local drive and it's not coming from the web. CHM's from web are blocked for security issues.
After downloading try to right-click on your chm file and select properties. You will see an "Unblock" button. Click on it and you'd see your content.

I have just downloaded the source package for DNN 8. I created a folder for the site, copied the files there and found the solution named DNN_Platform.sln and opened it with VS 2015. Did a right click and build on the solution and it successfully completed. I navigated to the web site and it gave me the standard install screen to input info such as database name etc. It ran and I was able to go to the web site. It has a single blank page named home with nothing in the page. I can go to some of the admin pages and they are fine. But I got to File Manager and all that I see is the bread crumb telling me my page location. Same occurred trying to look at the Page management screen. When I look at the available modules there are only a few there and there is no module for either the file manager (Digital Assets) or page manager. It feels like I am missing a portion of the build. I Googled to find install instructions for DNN8 but so far can't find any. I found instructions for earlier source code installs but the DNN8 package is a lot different. Can someone tell me where I can find this information or shed some light on what I have done wrong? I also did a standard install for DNN8 and all the modules are there.
In the root of the source directory there are two solution files:
DNN_Core.sln
DNN_Platform.sln
Open both (two different Visual Studio instances). First build DNN_Platform.sln, then build DNN_Core.sln.
Once you've built both you will not see the module directories in Visual Studio unless you click on "Show all Files" in solution explorer. You will also find them using File Explorer.
Is it possible to force Firefox not to change the file extension of a file the user downloads? Currently I have the problem that I have a .reg file to download, but Firefox, even though in the Download dialog it says "Text file (*.reg)", saves it as a .reg.txt file, which is highly annoying. How to fix this?
You could try to do the following things:
1.) https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/change-firefox-behavior-when-open-file
Maybe extension (in your case .reg) is associated with Notepad and you could changed it in Options/Applications
a) Click the menu button and choose Options.
b) Select the Applications panel.
c) The Applications panel will display. Select the type of file for which you want to change the default action.
2.) https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=511624
This is an old bug, but if you use the affected version of firefox...
When you right click on a link to a batch file and click save as, it will allow you to save it, but it automatically adds .txt to the end of the filename without informing you.
You are unable to save it as .bat
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Right click on a batch file link
2.Click save as
3.Save it
Actual Results:
filename is file.bat.txt
Seems to be a Firefox on Windows bug. My coworker was implementing download of .reg files and I use Firefox, I tested for him and got a .reg.txt. Just renaming it after download was sufficient to make the .reg work, but I got curious if that would happen on Linux also.
Grabbed my laptop where I have Ubuntu installed and the file was downloaded with the correct extension (just didn't run because .reg is a windows extension, it did open in the text editor). It was not automatically renamed as a .txt.
I'm new to Aptana 3. I recently switched from using an FTP (Filezilla) and text editor just to speed the file editing process up a bit.
I'm dealing mainly with Wordpress sites on a shared Godaddy hosting account, and am having some trouble uploading the files I have edited via Aptana to my live site.
i.e. I've edited several lines in my "main.css" file. I save it in my "Project Explorer" window in Aptana, have my FTP connection all set up and working, and click the "Upload" icon. I refresh my browser and nothing has changed, and I can see the website is still pulling in the old css. I've also tried "synchronizing" my files and hitting the "Publish" button, but that doesn't work either?
I've also tried just editing the file in a new Remote Connection tab, but no joy either.
I've hunted all over for simple walkthrough for deployment or file sync guides for Aptana, and watched a few video tutorials but nothing has worked so far.
Hold Control+F5 for a few seconds in your browser. You probably are just running a cached version of the CSS in your browser. That should prune it.
I had the same problem. What I found I had to do was an initial synchronization, I know you mention that you did this but it may be that it didn't fully sync as its not always clear what is going on with the Aptana sync.
What I did:
Make sure your Project has a connection in it and that it points to the server location that you want to sync with
Select the Remote tab and right-click on a file within the chosen connection, choose File Transfer...
This will open the sync window and it will initiate a compare, this is where confusion set in for me, if the folder structure is not identical it will propose to create and delete lots of files. I found I was deselecting items to be safe but meant that it did not correctly sync. Make sure you are syncing from the same root level and then let it do a full sync, this seems to register or record a link between the local and remote files.
Run the sync. when it is complete you will now be able to upload individual files successfully from the Project tab using the upload icon (before a successful sync this will not work - even though it looks like it is doing an upload).
Hope this helps.
Is there any way to change Firefox system icon (the one on the left top of the window)?
Precision : I want to change the icon of a bundled version of Firefox with apache/php and my application. So manual operation on each computer is not a solution.
I try Resource Hacker and it's the good solution. The add ons one is good too.
Resource hacker does the job of swapping application icons in Windows (up to XP, not tested with Vista yet).

#phloopy's good suggestion to use http://iconpacks.mozdev.org/ unfortunately doesn't work with newer versions of Firefox (I think to the omni.jar change). You can still use their ICO files (or your own), but you now need to do the following manual steps...
Unzip omni.ja in your Firefox application directory.
Delete omni.ja or rename it (e.g. omni.ja.off).
Create directories icons/default in the Firefox chrome application directory.
Copy the icon file you want to chrome/icons/default/main-window.ico
Start Firefox and enjoy your new icon
Notes:
There are other ICO file names you can use for other windows. The ones I have personally seen work are:
main-window.ico for browser windows and Scratchpad
downloadManager.ico for Downloads
If you know others please comment so I can add them. I personally would love one for Firebug and the Error Console. One for Library (Bookmarks) would be nice also (bookmark-window.ico does not work).
Your start time will be a little slower (due to the unzipping of omni.ja). In theory you can jar it up again, but I am not 100% sure that will work once they get the omni.ja optimization working again (it's "broken" in Firefox 10 so omni.ja is actually normal JAR/ZIP file).
If you let Firefox update you will need to do this again
Note many zip tools cannot read Firefox’s variation on the JAR format (see https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=605524).
More info is available at http://iconpacks.mozdev.org/docs/faq.html
There are icon packs available at http://iconpacks.mozdev.org/ that work by installing an extension. If you want to use your own icon, extensions are just zipped files so change the extension from xpi to zip and examine the source code and images it contains to customize it. If you do customize it, I suggest changing the GUID that so it doesn't auto-update and overwrite your customizations.
I think you mean the system icon, not the site icon as someone else thought. On a Mac, you can hold-Click -> Get Info on Firefox.app, then drag or paste an image on top of the icon.
I'm not sure about Windows, but I think you may need to compile from source to change it.
If you're talking about the application icon (which under Windows is typically located in the top-left corner of the application's window), then... no... and yes.
Like most windows apps, the icon you see there is probably a resource compiled into the application itself, so you can't change it.
There may be add-ins to Firefox that let you do this, but I doubt it - that icon is trademarked and "identifies" the Firefox "brand" (if you will). So it's unlikely that you could change it at run-time.
Firefox is open-source; you could always just download & compile your own version, replacing the icon resource with your own. A bit dramatic, but possible.
