i was working with sonar and everything was working just fine. then after a month or so not using it i started receiving the following exception when running the sonar-runner.bat
i am using the embedded h2 db server and use the default ports.

Go to: sonar-runner-2.3/conf/sonar-runner.properties
Uncomment the line: #sonar.host.url=http://localhost:9000
Replace localhost with your IP and save the file!
example:sonar.host.url=http://192.168.0.12:9000
Default port used by sonar is 9000,may be this has been used by some other application on your system.
Change your listening port in
sonarqube-4.2/conf/sonar.properties,
sonar-runner-2.3/conf/sonar-runner.properties
Restart sonar
sonarqube-4.2/bin/linux-x86-64/sonar.sh restart
I have same problem and found that I have installed my sql but forget to reset mysql password.
I found my mistake by accessing logs under /logs/access.log
So logs will surely help you to figure out problem.
This error is triggered by a SonarQube plugin that I'm not aware of : "kevinsawicki". I guess removing this plugin should fix your issue.

I am using sonarqube scanner on a Citrix remote machine. During the scan, analysis of code completes and gets zipped. But while uploading this zipped file, I get java.nio.file.DirectoryNotEmptyException and nothing gets uploaded to the sonarqube server.
Note that the scanner works fine for small projects. It does not work only for large projects. My sonarqube version is 7.2.1. Same thing happened in version 6.7 LTS. But it worked perfectly fine in version 5.6 LTS.
I have tried setting sonar.ws.timeout=9000 in sonar-scanner.properties file to increase time. This did not work.
The error message is:

.
the error caused by default 10s writeTimeout inherited from OkHttp library. While readTimeout is configurable by sonar.ws.timeout param, the writeTimout is not currently configurable. In some cases, depends on the analysis report size and /or your infrastructure setup, 10s is not enough to upload an analysis report that causes socket timeout error and DirectoryNotEmptyException. I have implemented a fix and committed it to SonarSource github: https://github.com/SonarSource/sonarqube/pull/3252/files
I've installed Sonarqube on my Docker container.
It was working very well up to a point, and I able to access it from the Web UI.
I'm a running it like this:
sonar.sh start
sonar-runner -e
However, out of the blue I am getting

I am really surprised by this, since I haven't changed anything. I only added a jar to /extensions/plugins/ and then I deleted it.
What's the cause of this error?
As reflected by your server log excerpts, the connection to your SonarQube server is refused because it is not online. Why? Because
failed to start
and
startup failed due to previous errors
Get your server up and running. Then you'll be able to perform analysis.
We previously discussed the problem on the now closed SonarQube Users mailing list.
The problem was solved by exchanging the for about half a week by optimizing the Postgre DB, then the problem reoccured.
We are using Jenkins 1.612 using the SonarQube Jenkins Plugin 2.2.1, Sonar 5.1 using a Postgre 9.1 database.
We are running about 20 JAVA projects/branches using much legacy code and having about 1.2 million LOC and 130k issues.
There are about 30 JAVA projects module projects having 1k-20k LOC and less than 2k issues.
There are about 50 custom JAVA projects having less than 200k LOC and less than 10k issues.
Our projects are written in JAVA (6/7) and using ANT 50% or Gradle 50% as build tools.
Now we are getting this error again:

I hope you may help finding a solution for this problem. Thx.
Edit: Operability restored:
Found a workaround if triggered from Jenkins.
At this link there was a similar issue for an older Sonar version. They triggered regularly the URL to keep the query in DB cache. This works for this issue also.
In Jenkins I installed the http Request plugin and before issuing the sonar analysis I trigger a http get on http://mySonarQube:9000/batch/project?key=myProjectKey&preview=false . This works around the real problem (DB request duration and timeout interval don't fit), but it may keep us operable.
In the next few days Sonar 5.2 will occur. We will test this version and I hope there the issues will be gone... I'll report...
https://jira.sonarsource.com/projects/SONAR/versions/11629
The problem can be solved in 4 ways:
add more resources to SonarQube server process and/or server platform (e.g. faster disks)
upgrade SonarQube server to the newest version (e.g. a lot of performance problems have been fixed in SonarQube 5.2 - see release notes)
change timeout value in sources and compile custom server
add indexes on columns in database (not recommended, you can read executed SQL commands from logs in debug mode)
I am new to SonarQube and was having a connection timed out error preventing sonar-runner from publishing a small application to sonarqube.
Versions:
SonarQube Runner 2.4
Java 1.7.0_45 Oracle Corporation (64-bit)
Linux 3.5.0-42-generic amd64
The confusing part is that this works fine when executing sonar-runner on the windows machine hosting sonarqube. I have changed the port default port from 9000 and tested both connections for validity. That has not resolved the issue.
Only when attempting to run sonar-runner manually from the command line on the virtual machine storing the source code does and error occur. I have also increased the allowable memory in the heap size via the SONAR_RUNNER_OPTS in the sonar-runner.bat file.
Please advise or let me know what additional information is needed.

This looks like your Linux server on which you try to run the SonarQube analysis cannot reach the Windows server on which the SonarQube server runs. You might have some firewall or network settings that prevents this communication.
I got the latest sonar-runner-dist-2.4 and sonarqube-4.3. Server starts fine, i can see the localhost But when i try to run the sonar-runner.bat -X, i see the below error. I looked at versions, logs but couldn't find the root-cause. Any help will be appreciated.

This issue seems to relate to the use of the IBM Java Virtual Machine : http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg1IZ76354. By using the Oracle one this should fix your issue.
