AlloyUI Diagram Builder Read-only - user-interface

I am using the Alloy Diagram Builder to create and display network topology.
I would like to remove default click and drag events attached to each nodes, so viewers would not have the ability "build" diagrams but only view diagrams that I have generated.
http://alloyui.com/examples/diagram-builder/real-world/
I have tried these but it does not work.
// detach click event to all nodes with class aui-diagram-node.
Y.all('.aui-diagram-node').detach("click");
// unbind
$(".aui-diagram-node").each(function(){
$(this).unbind();
});

I believe the event is attached to the container .aui-diagram-builder-drop-container via delegate() and the event would be mousedown.

Merely by accident I found a hack that might work for this. I was adding tooltips to my page on which I had a diagram builder, well apparently the tooltips layer a div over the page and simply set the opacity on it to be clear and the object still resides. After a tooltip had come up i was unable to interact with the piece of the diagram builder the tooltip had popped up over.
So based of this concept, why not try overlaying a div over the entire canvas of the diagram and give it a high z-index so that it sits on top. It should effectively not allow interaction with the canvas.
Yes it's a kludge but it just may work.

To make a DiagramBuilder read-only, you can detach() events from all of its children recursively:
/*
* Readonly the diagram
*/
function ReadonlyDiagram(diagram) {
function detachRecursively(node) {
node.get('children').each(detachRecursively);
// You may also want to set the cursor to the default since it will
// change based on which elements the mouse is over.
// node.setStyle('cursor', 'auto');
// You may want to detach specific events such as 'click' or
// 'mousedown' if you do not want to disable all events.
node.detach();
};
diagram.on('render', function (event) {
detachRecursively(diagram.get('boundingBox'));
});
}
Now, you must be post diagramBuilder object to ReadonlyDiagram function like below codes:
YUI().use('aui-diagram-builder', function (y) {
var diagram = new y.DiagramBuilder(
{
availableFields: data,
boundingBox: '#' + containerId,
fields: nodes,
srcNode: '#' + builderId
}).render();
diagram.connectAll(connections);
if (callBackDiagram !== undefined) callBackDiagram(diagram);
if(isReadonly === true) ReadonlyDiagram(diagram);
});
});

SAPUI5: Extend Control, renderer has html tags with event

I extend a Control to create a new custom control in UI5 and this control renders a tree as UL items nicely. Now I need to implement a collapse/expand within that tree. Hence my renderer writes a tag like
<a class="json-toggle" onclick="_ontoggle"></a>
and within that _ontoggle function I will handle the collapse/expand logic.
No matter where I place the _ontoggle function in the control, I get the error "Uncaught ReferenceError: _ontoggle is not defined"
I am missing something obvious but I can't find what it is.
At the moment I have placed a function inside the
return Control.extend("mycontrol",
{_onToggle: function(event) {},
...
Please note that this event is not one the control should expose as new event. It is purely for the internals of how the control reacts to a click event.
I read things about bind and the such but nothing that made sense for this use case.
Took me a few days to crack that, hence would like to provide you with a few pointers.
There are obviously many ways to do that, but I wanted to make that as standard as possible.
The best suggestion I found was to use the ui5 Dialog control as sample. It consists of internal buttons and hence is similar to my requirement: Render something that does something on click.
https://github.com/SAP/openui5/blob/master/src/sap.ui.commons/src/sap/ui/commons/Dialog.js
In short, the solution is
1) The
<a class="json-toggle" href></a>
should not have an onclick. Neither in the tag nor by adding such via jQuery.
2) The control's javascript code should look like:
sap.ui.define(
[ 'sap/ui/core/Control' ],
function(Control) {
var control = Control.extend(
"com.controlname",
{
metadata : {
...
},
renderer : function(oRm, oControl) {
...
},
init : function() {
var libraryPath = jQuery.sap.getModulePath("mylib");
jQuery.sap.includeStyleSheet(libraryPath + "/MyControl.css");
},
onAfterRendering : function(arguments) {
if (sap.ui.core.Control.prototype.onAfterRendering) {
sap.ui.core.Control.prototype.onAfterRendering.apply(this, arguments);
}
},
});
control.prototype.onclick = function (oEvent) {
var target = oEvent.target;
return false;
};
return control;
});
Nothing in the init(), nothing in the onAfterRendering(), renderer() outputs the html. So far there is nothing special.
The only thing related with the onClick is the control.prototype.onclick. The variable "target" is the html tag that was clicked.

Get id of dragged element in d3.js

I am probably having some kind of brain damage atm because something like this should be trivial.
I got a bunch of SVG circles rendered manually (via React). I am then attaching d3 drag behavior to all of them. The drag behavior is applied, and the drag function is being executed, but when I drag one of these circles I am not able to respond accordingly because I do not know which one of them was moved. Where can I get the ID of dragged element?
I have checked a few other questions and found just some crazy filter solution... that cannot be it.
I have also peeked at docs and found the subject property.. however that one is null everywhere I tried it.
My code:
componentWillUpdate() {
let nodes = d3.selectAll("circle");
const dragFn = (d,i) => {
d3.event.sourceEvent.stopPropagation();
this.props.onNodeDrag(I_NEED_AN_ID_HERE);
}
const dragBehavior = d3.behavior.drag();
dragBehavior.on('drag', dragFn);
dragBehavior.on('dragstart', () => {
d3.event.sourceEvent.stopPropagation();
});
nodes.call(dragBehavior);
}
I don't know what your "this" is inside the function but in plain js you can get any attribute of the html element with:
d3.select(this).attr("id"); //or class etc.
or if it's wrapped
d3.select(this).select("circle").attr("id");
Here's an example: http://jsfiddle.net/a2QpA/343/

Opening UI5 Quickview by non-SAPUI5 control

I'm trying to integrate UI5 with other libraries(namely D3) and am unable to open a UI5 Popover(or QuickView) by my controls.
The only method I can call to open the popover is .openBy(control).
According to the UI5 documentation: The Control = This is the control to which the popover will be placed. It can be not only a UI5 control, but also an existing DOM reference.
I've tried multiple things, but am unable to get the popover to open successfully. I continue to get errors in sap-ui-core.js.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to properly pass the DOM reference of my non-UI5 control?
Here is a code snippet showing what I'm trying to accomplish:
// circleClicked is the SVG element clicked on the map
function openQuickView(circleClicked) {
// quickView controls are UI5 and were created before this function
quickViewPage.setHeader(circleClicked.created_by);
// error
quickView.openBy(d3.select(circleClicked));
};
Everything you describe seems to be correct.
According to the documentation of sap.m.Popover you can also call openBy with a DOM reference as parameter.
What you are passing in your code snippet is not a DOM reference however, it is a d3 selection. To get the required DOM reference from the selection you have to add [0][0](see this answer).
function openQuickView(circleClicked) {
quickViewPage.setHeader(circleClicked.created_by);
quickView.openBy(d3.select(circleClicked)[0][0]);
};
EDIT: After playing around with the provided fiddle I found the problem.
The parameter to the function is the datum of the clicked object, not the DOM.
You should change your click handler and the function like this:
svg.selectAll("circle")
// ...
.on("click", function(d) {
openQuickView(this, d);
});
function openQuickView(circleClicked, circleData) {
quickViewPage.setHeader(circleData.created_by);
quickView.openBy(circleClicked);
}

Randomly placed draggable divs - organize/sort function?

Currently I have a page which on load scatters draggable divs randomly over a page using math.random
Using media queries however the page uses packery to display the same images for browser widths under 769px in a grided fashion.
I had the idea that it could be interesting to create a 'sort/organize' button which would rearrange these divs using packery and remove the draggable class already applied, however i have no idea if this is possible or how to go about it. If there is any method of animating this process that would also be a bonus!
If anyone could at the very least point me in the right direction i would be extremely thankful!!
Hopefully this gives you a bit of a starting point.
I would read up on JQuery as it has some useful helpers for DOM manipulation.
I don't think this is the most efficient way to do it, and I think you will need to rethink your test harness for doing this in the future, but hopefully this gets you started.
Firstly I've added a button to trigger the sort
<div class="rotate" id="contact">Contact</div>
<div id="logo">Andrew Ireland</div>
<button id="sort">sort</button>
Then updated the script to override the css setting to switch between draggable view and item view.
// general wait for jquery syntax
$(function(){
// trigger the layour to sort get the packery container
var container = document.querySelector('#container.packery');
var pckry = new Packery( container );
//button function
$("#sort").click(function(){
//Hide all the dragged divs
//ui-helper-hidden is a jquery ui hider class
if($('.box').css('display') == 'block') {
$('.box').css({'display':'none'});
//Show all the item class's
$('.item').css({'display':'block'});
//show the container
$('#container').css({'display':'block'});
// trigger the layour to sort
pckry.layout();
} else {
//hide all the item class's
$('.item').css({'display':'none'});
//hide the container
$('#container').css({'display':'none'});
//show the draggable box's
$('.box').css({'display':'block'});
}
});
$( ".pstn" ).draggable({ scroll: false });
$(".pstn").each(function(i,el){
var tLeft = Math.floor(Math.random()*1000),
tTop = Math.floor(Math.random()*1000);
$(el).css({position:'absolute', left: tLeft, top: tTop});
});
});
As I said this is more to get started. The packery documentation details how to trigger its layout functions so another approach would be to only have the draggable elements, and put these inside a packery container. Then when you want to sort them you can just trigger that the packery.layout() function.
I hope this is helpful, I am only just getting started on stack overflow so any feedback would be appreciated.

Mootools: inject vs adopt

I want to dynamically add some preconfigured HTML-Elements in use of a 'click'-event with mootools.
So I can make it work with my basic knowledge, although it isn´t very nifty. I coded this so far...
This is my preconfigured element, with some text, a classname and some event, cause i wanna have events already added, when it´s inserted into my container:
var label = new Element('label', {
'text': 'Label',
'class': 'label',
'events': {
'click': function(el){
alert('click');
}
}
});
Here is my function, which adds the label-Element:
function addText(){
$('fb-buildit').addEvent('click', function(){
row.adopt(label, textinput, deletebtn);
$('the-form').adopt(row.clone());
row.empty();
/*
label.clone().inject($('the-form'));
textinput.inject($('the-form'));
deletebtn.inject($('the-form'));
*/
});
}
The second part which uses inject also works, but there, my click-Event, which fires the "alert('click')" works too. The method with adopt doesn´t add any event to my label Object, when its inserted in the dom.
Can anyone help me with this. I just wanna know why adobt ignores my "events" settings and inject doesn´t.
Thanks in advance.
(sorry for my english ^^)
you go label.clone().inject but row.adopt(label) and not row.adopt(label.clone()) -
either way. .clone() does not cloneEvents for you - you need to do that manually.
var myclone = label.clone();
myclone.cloneEvents(label);
row.adopt(label);
this is how it will work
as for why that is, events are stored in the Element storage - which is unique per element. mootools assigns a uid to each element, eg, label = 1, label.clone() -> 2, label.clone() -> 3 etc.
this goes to Storage[1] = { events: ... } and so forth. cloning an element makes for a new element.uid so events don't work unless you implicitly use .cloneEvents()
you are sometimes not doing .clone() which works because it takes the ORIGINAL element along with its storage and events.
suggestion consider looking into event delegation. you could do
formElement.addEvent("click:relay(label.myLabel)", function(e, el) {
alert("hi from "+ el.uid);
});
this means no matter how many new elements you add, as long as they are of type label and class myLabel and children of formElement, the click will always work as the event bubbles to the parent.
