Visual Studio 2010 Can't select value of variable when debugging - visual-studio-2010

I have a winform application, when I'm debugging by setting a break point, when I move mouse cursor over a string variable, a tooltip is displayed and the value of the variable is shown. But when I click it, trying to copy the value, the tooltip is just gone. Sometimes the tooltip would stay and let me copy the value, but when it wouldn't it very annoying.
I know I can click the magnifier icon on the tooltip to have a pop-up window showing the value of the variable, but since the value is very large and it is not escaped in the pop-up window. It's really more convenient for me to just be able to get it from the tooltip.
Your help is appreciated.

Navigating within Visual Studio DataTip

When a DataTip is open while debugging in Visual Studio it appears the only way to get to a specific object property is scrolling with the mouse.
This can get very cumbersome as some objects can have hundreds of properties and scrolling to a property near the bottom takes a long time.
Yes, I know I can scroll faster if I hover the mouse over the bottom edge and pin a property once I found it but it can still take a long time to get to the property and pin it.
I've tried various combinations with Ctrl and Alt but what ever key I press the DataTip is promptly closed...
Once the DataTip has focus, you don't have to use the mouse. You can use the PgUp/PgDn (Page Up/Page Down) keys on your keyboard. But you're right: There is not a way to get to the end of the list or to get to items that start with a certain letter. When I need to do that often I take one of two approaches:
If possible, I create a [temporary] variable assignment after the code-line of interest and ensure that the variable gets assigned to the property of interest.
Create a watch variable and interact with that.
Open an Immediate Window and paste a copy of the object-instance name in question. Once in the Immediate Window, IntelliSense is available as soon as you type the "."--you can then type the letter of the property in question and drill-down as needed more quickly.
(Probaby the best tip!)
Open (and keep open for convenience) a Debug | Windows | Autos and/or Debug | Windows | Locals window. Those windows simplify navigating variables near the code break or in the current module--and they even seem to retain their tree-node-expanded state in some cases while debugging. You could use the oz-code as an extension tool which could help you search the properties or variables easily.

Visual Studio 2013 - Replace All Button gone (not just off screen)

I am unable to perform multi-file text search and replace (in Visual Studio).
In the past, when I opened the "Replace in Files" dialog, there were 4 buttons in the lower right. One of the bottom two buttons allowed me to "Replace All".
The two lower buttons (including "Replace All") are no longer present.
I believe this occurred after I changed some Windows settings so that I could use menus without the Magnifier.
It is not just a matter of the buttons being off-screen because the window is too large (although it is too large - they would be off-screen, if they were present).
I can drag the window and see the bottom, even though the top is then off-screen (I use AltWindowDrag, allowing me to hold the ALT key, and drag by any part of the window, not just the title bar).
The two lower buttons are not present. I'm unable to resize the window - when I try, nothing happens, or the window repositions so that I can see the title bar, but can no longer see the bottom.
The two buttons that are still present (Find Next and Replace) don't have keyboard shortcuts, so I presume that Replace All doesn't either. Nor can I select either of those two buttons using Tab, so probably can't select an "invisible" "Replace All" button that way.
Any help appreciated.
You can use Find and Replace by pressing Ctrl+H and to Replace All just use Alt+A.

slow down scrolling adjustment when selecting a long line

I have a long line that I want to select a section in the middle. In Visual Studio, it would scroll all the way to the end of the line, passing where I want the selection to end, when I move pass the text area and move all the way back when I try to move back a little. Is there a way to slow down the Visual Studio scrolling adjustment?
If you are talking about selecting text using the mouse you can get fine grained control by combining the the mouse and keyboard. This should work in any application that allows text selection, not just Visual Studio.
First click the location where you want to begin selecting text.
Next scroll to the location where you want to end selecting text and hold down Shift on the keyboard while clicking with the mouse. The block of text between the first click and the shift+click will be selected without having to worry about the selection jumping around due to scrolling.
As for actually slowing down the scrolling; I know of no way to do that. Hopefully my tip should give you an alternate way to do what you actually want.

Visual Studio 2013 custom toolbar to insert code snippets

Could anyone point me in the right direction here? I am adding a custom toolbar and I want buttons for lots of different code snippets. We use so many that it is impracticable to remember all the different shortcut commands for each one, and selecting from a menu takes longer than just clicking a button.
It doesn't really even need to be specifically for a code snippet as defined by Visual studio, just simply pasting some text to the editor window, however I was hoping to be able to have some that would work as surround snippets, which the normal code snippets do.
You should call this:
(DTE2)base.GetService(typeof(DTE))
in the Initialize() method of the Package and save the resulting dte-instance in a field. When your button is clicked, you can use ((TextDocument)_DTE.ActiveDocument).Selection.Text) to retrieve the currently selected text, modify it and write it back as new selected text. Maybe you will have to cast the return value of the Selection-Property to TextSelection.

Show Current Function on Toolbar in Visual Studio 2010

I wish to show the current function my cursor is in. I sorely miss this feature from VS6, I have tried customizing the toolbars but it should be no surprise I can't find it within the maze of hundreds of toolbar items, does anyone know what it is called and where its located? Or if its possible?
Let me give you an example. I'm debugging and see a variable is set to a certain value, I need to examine where this is set, so I search for variable name, Ctrl-F, F3, F3, F3, when the cursor is moved to the next result and if its in the middle of function I need to know very quickly what function its in, scrolling or any mouse interaction is a major slowdown in this process, I use the keyboard 90% of the time during my dev.
PS: note to visual studio developers. When you toolbar item list contains over 5,000 items it might be time to make it searchable lol!
In Visual Studio 2010, the code editor window has a toolbar at the top called the "Navigation Bar". In C++, C#, and VB the right-hand drop down in the Navigation bar is dynamically updated to reflect the current function or method that the cursor is in.
