Neo4j with SpringRestGraphDatabase - getting class not found exception - maven

I've built a new project using Spring data graph for Neo4J. I'm using Maven.
Everything works fine with embedded database, but when I'm trying to set a database on remote server using REST I'm getting:
java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.springframework.data.neo4j.rest.SpringRestGraphDatabase
I saw a post from about one year ago, but with no solution - at least not one that works for me... In this post they referred aspectJ which indeed I use.
Is anyone familiar with this? does anyone have a working configuration example?
I really tried a L-O-T of different configurations, based on different posts in different forums and guides. This is my last one - I'll just specify that I also have other POMs and all of them are grouped by a parent POM (this is a bug project).
This is the bean definition:
<!-- Neo4j configuration (creates Neo4jTemplate) -->
<datagraph:config graphDatabaseService="neo4JRestGraphDatabase" />
<!-- With this uncommented - it works great -->
<!--datagraph:config storeDirectory="data/graph.db" /-->
And this is the project's POM:
<project xmlns="http://maven.apache.org/POM/4.0.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
xsi:schemaLocation="http://maven.apache.org/POM/4.0.0 http://maven.apache.org/maven-v4_0_0.xsd">

Thanks for your help!

I think you don't want to use "org.neo4j" dependencies if you use Spring Data. I'm not an expert but my current project works with only these:
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework.data</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-data-neo4j</artifactId>
<version>${org.springframework.data-version}</version>
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework.data</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-data-neo4j-rest</artifactId>
<version>${org.springframework.data-version}</version>
</dependency>

I think you need to include the org.springframework.data.spring-data-neo4j-rest artifact, not just the org.neo4j.neo4j-rest-graph-db.
Also, you're mixing versions pretty freely
spring-data-neo4j 3.0 snapshot
neo4j-rest-graphdb 2.0 milestone
neo4j 1.8 milestone (you sure you don't mean to use 2.0 M6 here also?)
a long list of exclusions
explicit dependencies on spring-security-web 3.1.4 and spring-orm
I don't know the relevant dependencies and compatibilities for SDN 3, and there isn't necessarily anything wrong with mixing it up a bit, but if you get ClassNotFoundException or NoClassDefFoundError with a pom like that, you may want to look at your dependency tree, for instance by running mvn dependency:tree -Dverbose in your project root, to see if there are conflicting versions causing some dependencies to be silently excluded.

Eventualy, the problem was the definition of my neo4JRestGraphDatabase (which unfortunately I haven't pasted here...).
It was:
<bean id="graphDatabaseService" class="org.springframework.data.neo4j.rest.RestGraphDatabase">
<constructor-arg value="http://localhost:7474/db/data/" />
</bean>
Instead of:
<bean id="graphDatabaseService" class="org.springframework.data.neo4j.rest.SpringRestGraphDatabase">
<constructor-arg value="http://localhost:7474/db/data/" />
</bean>
Now I have 'Connection Refused' problem, but this is another issue.
Regarding the dependencies, the dependencies that geceo mentioned above are indeed enough.
Thanks for anyone that tried to help!

javax.persistence and jakarta.persistence classpath errors

I have a springboot project that uses jpa and olingo. It runs ok locally for testing but when I create a war file and run it, I sometimes get this error
An attempt was made to call a method that does not exist. The attempt was made from the following location:
org.hibernate.cfg.AnnotationBinder.bindJoinedTableAssociation(AnnotationBinder.java:2531)
The following method did not exist:
javax.persistence.JoinTable.indexes()[Ljavax/persistence/Index;
The method's class, javax.persistence.JoinTable, is available from the following locations:
jar:file:/usr/sap/ljs/webapps/spring-boot-doeapis-0.0.1-SNAPSHOT/WEB-INF/lib/javax.persistence-2.0.5.jar!/javax/persistence/JoinTable.class
jar:file:/usr/sap/ljs/webapps/spring-boot-doeapis-0.0.1-SNAPSHOT/WEB-INF/lib/jakarta.persistence-api-2.2.3.jar!/javax/persistence/JoinTable.class
It was loaded from the following location:
file:/usr/sap/ljs/webapps/spring-boot-doeapis-0.0.1-SNAPSHOT/WEB-INF/lib/javax.persistence-2.0.5.jar
Action:
Correct the classpath of your application so that it contains a single, compatible version of javax.persistence.JoinTable
Now I'm trying to figure out which one of the libraries I'm using is downloading the javax.persistence or jakarata.persistence so I can try to prevent it from downloading. I'm using Maven if it helps.

I tried to remove every library little by little so long as it still compiles but I still get both jar files so now I want know how to check what jar files each fo my libraries downloads.
Update: It seems that spring-boot-starter-data-jpa is the one that gets the jakarta.persistence and the olingo-odata2-jpa-processor-core, olingo-odata2-jpa-processor-ref and hibernate-testing are the ones using the javax.persistence.
I've only been using spring boot for a short while so would this actually cause problems? Thing is, I don't get the error consistently. When I restart the server, sometimes I get the error and other times I don't. I can't really figure out what causes the error to appear.
Run mvn dependency:tree and find which dependencies depends on javax.persistence and jakarta.persistence.
Then you have to make a decision. Do you want to use javax or jakarta?.
If you want to use javax, you will need to decrease the version of libraries that depends on persistence till you find javax from previous command. If you want to use jakarta you will need to increase that versions.
The important thing is that all dependencies are consistent with javax or jakarta.

Spring MVC beginner. noClassDefDefinition org/springframework/util/MimeType

I am Spring beginner. I have created a new Spring MVC project and I run always into errors.
When running the project, I get the following error on server:
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/springframework/util/MimeType
I have read similar posts on stack overflow and found that I have to import spring-core dependency, but in this case I run into another error:
org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanDefinitionStoreException: Failed to read candidate component class: file [/Users/andrei/Downloads/Projects/Spring/.metadata/.plugins/org.eclipse.wst.server.core/tmp0/wtpwebapps/hello-world/WEB-INF/classes/org/andrei/hello/HomeController.class]; nested exception is java.lang.IncompatibleClassChangeError: org/springframework/core/type/classreading/AnnotationMetadataReadingVisitor
How can I fix this error?

You are using two different spring versions, change spring-web and spring-core dependencies as follows:
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-web</artifactId>
<version>${org.springframework-version}</version>
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework</groupId>

add required jars or dependencies to your pom.xml. get dependencies from https://mvnrepository.com/

You have a dependency on spring-social-facebook 1.1.0.RELEASE. Unfortunately, there is a bad transitive dependency from spring-social-facebook:1.1.0.RELEASE to spring-social-core:1.1.0.BUILD-SNAPSHOT. That was fixed with spring-social-facebook:1.1.1.RELEASE (and, in fact, is the only real difference between spring-social-facebook:1.1.1.RELEASE and spring-social-facebook:1.1.0.RELEASE.
In short, change your spring-social-facebook dependency to have version 1.1.1.RELEASE and your problem should go away.
Maybe I'm a little late to answer this but I came across this problem while doing an android build. The solution is to use spring-social-core:1.1.0.RELEASE with spring-social-facebook:1.1.1.RELEASE (also the latest spring-social-facebook:2.0.0.M1 seems to work for me).
In your case, you are using the spring-social package. Try making it more specific and changing it to spring-social-core. I think some of the additional packages in it may be requiring some other dependencies.
Change your facebook dependency version from pom.xml
**before**
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework.social</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-social-facebook</artifactId>
<version>1.1.0.RELEASE</version>
</dependency>
With this version there is some dependency problem of spring core snapshot. So just change this version.
**after**
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework.social</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-social-facebook</artifactId>
<version>1.1.1.RELEASE</version>
</dependency>

9.jmxri is not spelled correclty
and in lot many lines like this
i have no idea how to resolve this. Pls help me
You have configured eclipse to do spell checking against a dictionary. Those words you have listed are not in that dictionary. These aren't errors. Eclipse just warns you about possible misspellings. You can safely ignore them, or add the words to your dictionary.
See the eclipse preferences: Window -> Preferences -> General -> Editors -> Text Editors -> Spelling

Error with pom.xml in MVC Template project

I use STS and I've created Spring MVC Template Project. But pom.xml tells me that there is an error and it writes this:
"No plugin found for prefix 'war' in the current project and in the plugin groups [] available from the repositories [local (C:\Users\m1e\.m2\repository), central (http://repo.maven.apache.org/maven2)]"
I'm using STS and Maven for the first time and I'm a noob. I really don't understand what the hell it means. Guys, please help. Thanks!
Here is my pom.xml:

mmm The first thing that I would check is the Maven Version.
What STS version are you using? The last one is the 3.1.0 and it is supplied with Maven 3.0.4 version
So why are you using the older Maven 2 version?
The problem seems to depend on the absence of a specific Maven plugin
Try to:
1) Delete the repositery folder inside your ./m2 directory, then go in STS and do a clean or a maven install of your project and see if it works (sometimes understood you wrong to download anything)
If don't work use the last Maven version, maybe the older version have some problem with the plugin declared in the pom.xml file of the Spring Template project...in teory, if you have dowload the latest version of STS you have also the latest version of Maven !!!
