Maybe this question been answered by someone but i don't know why i can't set session data!
$this->load->library('session');
$userdata = array(
'errors' => 1
);
$this->session->set_userdata($userdata);
redirect('user/profile');
when i check the session by $this->session->all_userdata(), the session data isn't set. I tried everything, clear my browser's cache, restart my macbook and so on yet i can't set session data.

is there any way on how to save a Whole batch of file using eloquent ?
For example I have a 1000 items to be saved, The traditional way is using foreach and saving it.
What I foresee is if the internet connection is down during the middle of the saving process, the remainder of the items that still not done will not be save, is there any way to address this issue ?
What I think feasible is using stored procedure but the bandwidth will kill us.
What you are looking for is transaction, please take a look at https://laravel.com/docs/5.4/database#database-transactions.
You may use the transaction method on the DB facade to run a set of operations within a database transaction. If an exception is thrown within the transaction Closure, the transaction will automatically be rolled back. If the Closure executes successfully, the transaction will automatically be committed.
Another way is using the insert() function to create data at once.
DB::table('users')->insert([
['email' => 'taylor#example.com', 'votes' => 0],
['email' => 'dayle#example.com', 'votes' => 0]
]);
I have a simple authentications for user,In UserController I have a fuction called postLogin().
public function postLogin()
{
if(Auth::user()->attempt($credentials))
{
return Redirect::intended('desk')->with('stream',"SomeData");;
}
}
with above code I am able to log in successfullt with the "SomeData" variable which I am retrieving it by
<?php
$class = Session::get('stream');
var_dump($class);
?>
First time when it goes to "/desk" url it dumps the value perfectly fine that is "SomeData" but once I refresh the page it resets the session and the value turns to null.
How do I keep this value till the user logs out.
From the laravel official documentation :
Flash Data
Sometimes you may wish to store items in the session only for the next
request. You may do so using the flash method. Data stored in the
session using this method will only be available during the subsequent
HTTP request, and then will be deleted. Flash data is primarily useful
for short-lived status messages:
$request->session()->flash('status', 'Task was successful!');
If you need to keep your flash data around for even more requests, you
may use the reflash method, which will keep all of the flash data
around for an additional request. If you only need to keep specific
flash data around, you may use the keep method:
$request->session()->reflash();
$request->session()->keep(['username', 'email']);
I am using an API. The resquest-response time on the API takes too long time. So, due to this problem, I want to store the response on the Server but not on the browser. This is because, I want to display the result from cache for similar searches. I know, there are limitations on the accuracy on cached data, but that's another part which I don't want to include here.
I am using laravel framework and using this code for current moment as in the laravel documentation.
$expiresAt = Carbon::now()->addMinutes(10);
Cache::put('key', 'value', $expiresAt);
The problem with this code is, it stores cache on the browser only. But I want to store it on Server. I have heard about the Memcached but could not implement it. I have also heard of apc_store() but I think it stores on local. So, How can I store cache on server?
Similar to Cache::put(), you can use Cache::pull() to check for data saved (on the server).
// Check cache for data
$cachedData = Cache::pull($key);
// Get new data if no cache
if (! $cachedData) {
$newData = 'New Data';
$expiresAt = Carbon::now()->addMinutes(10);
// Save new data to cache
$cachedData = Cache::put($key, $newData, $expiresAt);
}
echo $cachedData;
Hello i'm kinda new to laravel and i have a question concerning authentication. I have the following function in my authentication controller:
public function signout()
{
// set logged in status to zero in database
$l = Login::where('user_id', Session::get('user')->user_id)
->where('logged_in', 1)->first();
$l->logged_in = 0;
if ($l->save())
{
// log user out
Auth::logout();
// Forget user session data
Session::forget('user');
// redirect user to login page
return Redirect::to('/account/signin');
}
}
Now in my session config, i have set sessions to expire after 60mins after which the user will obviously be logged out of the system. However that will occur without my other functions executing like setting user logged in status to zero in database or forgetting the user session array. Is there a way i can trigger those functions to execute after login session expire? Thank you in advance.
Update: I've been looking around again ever since i got a down vote for my question to see if there was already a solution to this, from reading the docs i got excited when i came to the "Events" section because i thought i had found a solution however i found out later on that there was no such thing as a "Session::expire" event in laravel, neither is there a function to check whether another user is logged in or not.
Your whole premise is wrong: sessions should have an expiry timestamp that's set when user logs in, and updated on every request if you want to have something like "session times out after 1h of inactivity".
Then you can basically:
Check if session is still valid when user performs a request, by checking the timestamp
Delete expired sessions using a scheduled task, so you keep things clean and tidy in the background
Anyway, if for some reason you end up needing to trigger some actions to happen when a user signs out Laravel actually has an Event that's triggered on user logout: 'auth.logout'
I need to set a session with expiration time of 5min in controller. How do i do it?
I need something like:
$this->container->get('session')->set('mysession', 'value', 'expiration');
in symfony2 way?
Thanks!
Assuming your session is already created, you can achive your goal with:
$this->container->get('session')->migrate($destroy = false, $lifetime = null);
$destroy: Whether to delete the old session or leave it to garbage collection.
$lifetime: Sets the cookie lifetime for the session cookie. A null value will leave the system settings unchanged, 0 sets the cookie to expire with browser session. Time is in seconds, and is not a Unix timestamp.
This feature is added recently. You can update to this commit or patch. From the code it seems you can set expiry time by following way,
$this->container->get('session')->getMetadataBag()->stampNew(300);
To control the time of the active session (and idle time too) you have to do it in the controller this way (extract from: session configuration in the official doc):
$session->start();
if (time() - $session->getMetadataBag()->getCreated() > $maxTime) {
$session->invalidate();
throw new SessionExpired(); // redirect to expired session page
}
When time reaches your $maxTime session is "closed". You can put this code in the backend of your app as a function to call from the different methods to control the time.
