XAMPP Control Panel not appearing in start menu

I just installed XAMPP 7.3.5 on a Windows 10 machine. The XAMPP Control Panel is not showing up in the start menu though. An older installation of XAMPP on a Windows 7 machine displays the XAMPP Control Panel in the start menu, as shown by the screenshot below. How do I get XAMPP Control Panel to show up in the start menu in Windows 10?
If you are on Windows go to C:\xampp, find the xampp-control application, right-click with the mouse button and click "Pin to start".
This is for Windows 10 and it should work for any other program you want to appear in the start menu:
Right-click xampp-control.exe (in your XAMPP installation directory)
Select "create shortcut"
Cut and paste shortcut to C:\Users[your username]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs
Apparently the XAMPP installer either doesn't ask to be added to the start menu or I skipped over the option in haste! Now the XAMPP control panel appears when I start typing in the start menu, which is what I want for my workflow.

TortoiseGit commands not available in Total Commander

I have weird problem with TortoiseGit in Total Commander. Suddenly I can't use TortoiseGit commands in Total Commander because they disappeared from context menu. But they still work in Windows Explorer. I have already tried to reinstall/repair TortoiseGit, reinstall Total Commander, run TC as administrator but nothing helped.
I have Windows 7 Professional SP1, TortoiseGit-1.8.16.0-64bit, TC 8.52a 64 bit (2015-09-17).
Go to TortoiseGit settings -> Icon overlays and make sure "Show context menu overlay only in explorer" is not checked.
Total Comander
Configuration -> Options... -> Icons
check "Show overlay icons"

Ctrl +Shift + Enter not working with Visual Studio 2013 power productivity tools

I have two computers at home. Both have Visual Studio 2013 with power productivity tools extension. The only difference is one computer has windows 7 while another is running windows 8.1.
Both are running same edition of visual studio and latest updates are installed. But on windows 8.1 machine pressing Ctrl + Shift + Enter does not put semicolon while with windows 7 it's working fine.
Can anyone please tell me is that OS specific problem or there is a bug in power productivity tools for visual studio 2013.
reference: http://abhijitjana.net/2010/07/21/use-shiftenter-to-add-automatically-at-end-of-the-line-visual-studio-2010-productivity-power-tool/ - This link is for visual studio 2010 but now visual studio 2013 got same functionality with Ctrl + Shift + Enter.
Just tested it on mine (VS2013 w/Power Tools) in a C# file on windows 8.1 and it worked.
My recommendation is that you verify that the mapping (Edit.LineOpenBelow) is mapped to the keystroke.
Do you have other tools which may have taken the mapping such as Resharper?
If the mapping is there and appears to be assigned, try to change the mapping and see if it it works or fails. The mapping can be found in the keyboard options here:
Apparently in Windows 8 (and Windows 8.1) a special shortcut was added to run a task without showing the UAC notification to grant administrator privileges when running a specific application.
Surprisingly the shortcut is Ctrl + Shift + Enter.

So the question is how to disable it and if it will solve your issue:
You can disable the sequence Ctrl + Shift in Windows 8.
In "Control Panel" | "Clock, Language and Region" | "Language" click "Advanced Settings" in the left pane.
In "Advanced settings" click "Change Language bar hot keys"
In "Text Services and Input Languages" click "Change Key Sequence" button and disable the the key sequence by selecting the "Not
Assigned" radio buttons.

Or you can try to disable the UAC:
Open up the Start screen, search for UAC, and you should see an option
for User Account Control settings. If you don’t, you’ll need to change
to search through your Settings first, but then you should see it.
And then you can drag the slider all the way to the bottom, the same
as for the other versions of Windows.

You can also try using SharpKeys to redefine the specific keyboard sequence:
Download link: http://www.randyrants.com/2011/12/sharpkeys_35/

Now, after doing it, please try the hotkey in VS2013.
Let me know if that support your issue,

Find which application use Ctrl+Comma

I can't use Ctrl+, in Visual Studio 2013 and Pycharm in windows 8.1. Is there a way to find which application occupy this shortcut/hotkey?
I tried Windows Hotkey Explorer, doesn't work.
Here is the list.
Here is the list of the program I installed:
Any help?
This is for Chinese user only. This is because of the Sogou Pinyin (搜狗输入法)occupy this shortcut system wide. And it won't release if you just uninstall it.
Go to here to disable it: Language->Advanced settings->Change language bar hot keys
Uninstall it is not working, you need disable that setting then uninstall it.
Adding to #happlebao's answer:
As of 2019, in Windows 10, you need to go to Settings > Devices > Typing > Advanced keyboard settings > Input language hot keys, or just press Windows key and search for "Advanced keyboard settings" to find the hotkey settings.
Then disable the Ctrl+, hotkey.

How to stop Visual Studio from opening a file on single click?

In my Visual Studio 2012 Solution Explorer, when I single click a filename it opens it. This was different from Visual Studio 2010 (required a double click). Is there a way to make double-click the 'view file' command?
This is called the Preview Tab feature. To change that behavior, go to:
Tools -> Options -> Environment -> Tabs and Windows
Then look for the "Preview Tab" section, and uncheck the options therein:
Option 1: Using icon in Solution Explorer
You can enable or disable the feature in Solution Explorer using the "Preview Selected Items" button.
The icon is a Tab aligned to the right.
Option 2: Using the Options window
You can enable or disable the feature by going into Tools > Options and then Environment > Tabs and Windows.
The Single-click opens files in the preview tab text mentioned in rubber boots' answer is missing in VS 2015. Mysteriously, a search for "single click" still brings up the Environment > Tabs and Windows option.
So for VS2015 and VS2017, either click the button in Vinicius's answer, or uncheck the Preview selected files in Solution Explorer box shown in the screenshot below.
In Visual studio 12/13, easiest way is to type "single click" in quick search and than select Tabs and Windows.
And in Tabs and Windows dialogue ,uncheck "Preview selected files in solutions explorer"
Shortcut Ctrl+Alt+Home.
If you press that in a document that was just opened, it will be opened permanently.
Item -> right click -> Open With -> Source Code (Text) Editor -> press Set as Default button
It's no longer there in VS2019. You enable/disable it through "preview selected Items" in Solution Explorer.
