kendo grid with foreign key without relations in database design - kendo-ui

I have a database without the relations between tables in SQL Server, but the data are relationated.
I am trying to use a Kendo Grid with Foreign Key column, but, the example that I found is for database with correctly related tables.
How I can declare a Kendo Grid when for a Foreign Key column I said who is the Action and Controller to fill this data.

IMHO, you may do like this:
Let's say we create a foreign key column about gender
col.ForeignKey(m => m.id_gender, (System.Collections.IEnumerable)ViewData["gender"], "id_gender", "description");
In the controller, we may create a ienumerable collection then pass it back to the view using view data
IEnumerable<GenderItem> gender_list = .... <-- initiallize the ienumerable or get from database
ViewData["gender"] = gender_list;

Backpack Laravel select2_from_ajax field returns results, but I can't select any

I'm implementing a 'select2_from_ajax' field using Backpack for Laravel.
I've implemented this in other places and it works correctly. But for some reason when implementing it this time it will not let me select any of the options and doesn't show the highlight when mousing over the options. It lists out the options correctly, I just can't select any of them.
The only thing I can think of is that the relationship it's trying to reference doesn't have a primary 'id' field in the database, but I'm not sure why that would affect this.
I have implemented both the index and show routes.
The issue was that the relationship field's primary key was not 'id' it was setup with a different column name.
I reworked the data structure so the foreign key referenced was pointing to a column labeled 'id'.

how adding a fields to relationship Table in pivot table method using laravel

I want to design an online store. For each category of productions, we would have its own fields.
Connections between tables of fields and categories are done and displayed in the part of registration of productions.
At the end, the value of each field should be stored that it should contains the related table between table of fields and productions (in addition to/plus/+) the value of that field.
My problem is in this part and I want that this related table has an additional field that I could value it.
In the following figure, the picture of table and my connections are shown, if there is (any problem/ something wrong with it), I would appreciate you to help me.

You'd simply need to add a withPivot when declaring the relationship:
return $this->belongsToMany('Role')->withPivot('foo', 'bar');
Extra attributes in pivot tables are covered in the docs, here - http://laravel.com/docs/4.2/eloquent#working-with-pivot-tables

Kendo UI Foreign Key

I am new to Kendo UI and I got this problem. I don't understand, what are the basic steps in showing child object information in a column with a foreign key property. I mean, what do I have to do to create a foreign key column. It might be a silly question, but I saw a demo of foreign key on demos pages http://demos.telerik.com/kendo-ui/web/grid/foreignkeycolumn.html, still, I didn't quite get how does it work.
Thanks,
Vidmantas
Below is the MVC example for foreign key column demo:
Its as simple as it sounds,
For example, lets say you have CoachId field in a table and its the foreign key of the table
Coach that has CoachId and Name columns. Now you wish to present the Coach Name instead of the CoachId in the Grid.
columns.ForeignKey(student => student.CoachId,
(System.Collections.IEnumerable)ViewBag.Coaches, "CoachId", "Name")
.Title("Coach");
Then from the controller or from Code you have to send all the coach records in Viewbag or Viewdata.
Cheers!!

Unable to add a table from an existing database to EDMX using Database First Entity Framework

I am using Database First EF to generate model from the existing database. When I first generated the models, it ignores only one of the table, the entity was not added to EDMX, no model file is created for the table and no context is created for the entity.
When I tried to explicitly add the table to EDMX (when generating the model, selected the specific table first and then updated the model with all the other tables from the database), it complained with the following error.
Two entities with possibly different keys are mapped to the same row. Ensure these two mapping fragments map both ends of the AssociationSet to the corresponding columns.
This specific table has two columns which are primary keys of some other tables and both the columns are specified as Primary keys for the table.
Am I doing something wrong or should I handle this table differently since it has two columns defined as Primary Keys? Any suggestions greatly appreciated!
You are not doing anything wrong. Your table is junction table for many-to-many relation. You don't need that table in the model because EF (in contrast to database) can handle many-to-many relation directly without any intermediate. The table is actually mapped on behind of the many-to-many relation - you will see that in mapping details window.
Btw. you are not using code first. Code first = no EDMX.

TableAdapter to return ONLY selected columns? (VS2008)

(VS2008) I'm trying to configure a TableAdapter in a Typed DataSet to return only a certain subset of columns from the main schema of the table on which it is based, but it always returns the entire schema (all columns) with blank values in the columns I have omitted.
The TableAdpater has the default Fill and GetData() methods that come from the wizard, which contain every column in the table, which is fine. I then added a new parameterized query method called GetActiveJobsByCustNo(CustNo), and I only included a few columns in the SQL query that I actually want to be in this table view.
But, again, it returns all the columns in the master table schema, with empty values for the columns I omitted.
The reason I am wanting this, is so I can just get a few columns back to use that table view with AutoGenerateColumns in an ASP.NET GridView. With it giving me back EVERY column i nthe schema, my presentation GridView contains way more columns that I want to show th user. And, I want to avoid have to declare the columns in the GridView.
When you add a new query to a given TableAdapter, it is going to assume the schema in which it is attached to, which is why you are getting blank values for the columns you don't want.
Since you mentioned having already created the procedure, what you need to do is use the Server Explorer to connect to the database and simply drag that stored procedure over into your XSD work area. What this will do is create a separate QueryAdapter that will have just the columns you specified (still strongly typed) and you can bind/interact with your GridView using that QueryAdapter instead.
Is the strongly typed dataset used in another query that returns all the rows from the table?
What you could do is create a dataview using the strongly typed dataset and expose a data table for your DataGridView.
I'm not sure what your requirements are totally, but this example should help you:
DataView dv = new DataView(ds.<Your_Table>);
// This will create a new data table with the same name,
// But with only two columns from the original table.
// This could then be bound to your data grid.
DataTable dt = dv.ToTable(false,
ds.<Your_Table>.<Your_Column1Column>.ColumnName,
ds.<Your_Table>.<Your_Column1Column>.ColumnName);
Just delete the columns you don't want at run-time before you bind to your Gridview. The underlying class is still just a DataTable after all.
