How to display groups in Doddle Report? - asp.net-mvc-3

I have downloaded the sample app of the Doddle Report and understand it is to report a collection of IEnumerable data. I am able to get data reported nicely for a simple report.
However, the sample app did not have grouping. I would think to accomplish this I need to extend the functionality from the source code to show group format and wonder if anyone tried and succeed. If so, how should I approach it? Thanks in advance.

As far as I know, Doddle Report doesn't have grouping capability built into the system.
According to some of the discussion on the codeplex,

it appears that the creator is also looking for someone to include that functionality.
One work-around I used for different groups was to create an excel report and then use AppendReport() to get multiple pages in the same report. Unfortunately, the iTextSharp report writer doesn't implement AppendReport() so I had to use the OpenXml writer for this.

How do I create a more filtered report in Version One, similar to an excel report?

I can create a basic report I want in Version One's custom reporting tool, then export it into excel, then use filtering to drill down by specific attributes. I see no way to do this in the custom reporting module. Is there a way to accomplish this I'm missing? Am I forever reliant on excel? Or do I have to learn the API to get this done?

OpenERP basic reports

OpenERP is one of the best ERP applications I ever used.
I found that almost everything must be built from the beginning to meet the specific needs for each one including the analysis reports, but there are some basic packages already built.
Since I am new to OpenERP functionality and still haven't learned how to create reports in OpenERP, I need to know if there is any addons/extra module that provides me some basic and ready to print reports and listings for the several modules. This reports and listings will help me to better understand and learn the functional part of the application and will allow me on a future to better understand how to build reports and listings in OpenERP.
If anyone can provide me a link or repository with such information I will be greatfull.

There are various ways of creating reports with openerp. They are (i've prioritized)
Webkit (for html,web designers - this will be a great utility)
OpenOffice (for any office person with minimal technical skills)
RML (Strictly for programmers :))
Jasper Report (good for people with java-reporting base)
Aeroo (Rich functionality of exporting to excel,word etc, still i am not comfortable in aeroo with openerp 7)
Pentaho Report Designer (A reporting tool from pentaho )
These links will help you in understanding better, setup environment and learn from the sample modules and reports. However you need to design what u need with one of the reporting type.

Reporting from Odoo / OpenERP can be very frustrating at times. We have found over the years that no single solution is great for every need.
The built in reporting mechanisms mentioned in the first answer (rml / openoffice) have been somewhat deprecated and replaced with qweb reporting which renders similarly in HTML or PDF. They can be difficult to get fine-grained control and alignment, a lot of work to achieve non-regular reporting structures and cross tab reports, but are fast and easy to use for straightforward "document" type reports (such as orders / invoices).
I cannot comment on Jasper or Aeroo, as I have not used them.
Using Pentaho Reports for Odoo can be great because they are primarily reporting engines. They can do wonderful things with data, present them in great ways.
One upside with this connector is its ability to access Data using the object layer, or SQL, or both in one report if necessary (using sub-reports for example), as well as custom methods!
One downside we have found with Pentaho Reporting is that as the code base changes for OpenERP/Odoo, the connector changes, and configuration has to be continually re-vesited.
The latest version supports Odoo version 8 and version 5.4 of Pentaho reporting engine.

Oracle Apex UI Translation - Point me in the right direction

I have to work on building a website in Oracle Apex that should be displayed in multiple languages. Let me decompose this further.
I am assuming that there are two parts to an Apex application
UI & elements of the UI i.e. regions, buttons, tables, page headings
Data
At the moment I need to find answers on how to enable multiple language support for only the UI part of my application. Not the data.
As I can understand, there are two broad based approaches to achieve this.
Use the Apex inbuilt support for changing the UI elements.
Create a solution from scratch that is based on a database driven approach.
IS my understanding correct?
Two more questions
1. Can anyone give me a short brief on in the type of support that Oracle Apex provides for creating multiple versions of webpages / websites for my application? Alternatively just point me in the right direction by providing relevant links etc.
Which one of the above two approaches would you recommend? And Why?

Okay, this one I seemed to have solved on my own. The process consists of the following steps
Create a shadow applications for each language other than the language of the primary application.
Export the UI elements from the primary language application into an XML file (XLIFF) for the target language application (the shadow application as mentioned in 1 above).
Edit the XML file and enter the text descriptions for the target language application in the XML file.
Upload the edited XML file to the target application.

At the time of writing this I don't see any reason for creating this feature from scratch. Why reinvent the wheel?

Generate a business letter for 100+ leads using wkhtmltopdf

We need to print Business Letter for a given list with mail merge facilities.
My client is not willing to spend $$ on a paid ASP.NET control to make PDF. So I opted in for WKHTMLtoPDF and it works fine for us until one day the client tried to get a PDF of 100+ leads, resulting in complete failure of PDF generation. It works just fine with a 10-20 page PDF, but not for 100.
Are there any tips & tricks to improve performance? We are using Cloud-hosted IIS 7 with ASP.NET 4 if that matters.
PDFSharp library is really a nice one!
I have used it for quite a while now, and I find it flexible enough to fulfill your needs.
However there are some aspects of using it as a "standalone library" - e.g creating tables is a headache and there aren't much text formatting options. It is much better to mix it together with MigraDoc (an extension library for PDFSharp).
If you're looking for a really free (as in "free of worries") library, choose iTextPDF versions prior to version 4.1.7, as they state in the ByteScout blog.

I'm not sure I understand your problem but couldn't you generate docx documents and get the same results?
For all, I use http://wkhtmltopdf.org/ to create HTML to PDF, my ASP.NET code generate the HtML file then I create HTML to PDF and it is done, much easier than using itextpdf's Table and td structure to get things in better space. I found it easy and fast once you get your stuff aligned properly.

SugarCRM: Pdf generation

I'm a newbie to SugarCRM development. In my project, I have to generate a pdf for one entity details(say Account details). On details page, I have added "Print PDF" button, upon clicking this button I have one independent script (I mean to say that it was not implemented as per Sugar framework). In this script we are querying database for the required details and building one html string. Using html2pdf library, converting this html string to pdf.
I dont know whether it is an efficient implementation or not, but everything is working fine as per the requirement. But we have one problem when the original string contains some special characters like currency symbols of different countries. We are getting the html fine, but in pdf getting question marks (?) for those special characters.
While trying to fix this issue, when I looked into SugarCRM code, I found some pdf classed inside includes/ directory that creating an impression that Sugar itself has some built-in library to generate pdf's. Is it true?
If that is true, will it solve my problem, i.e. displaying different countries currency symbols in pdf.
Can anybody please help me to in resolving this. Thanks in advance.

Venkat, SugarCRM does indeed have its own pdf generation ability. We use it to generate customer orders, quotes, invoices, and statements.
Though I've done some work on the pdf generation myself, I don't think I'm really experienced enough to be able to guide someone else in detail in the use of Sugar's pdf capabilities. I can tell you that we use pdf generation only in our own custom modules, so the files are found in [sugarRoot]/modules/[customModule]/. (You may know that unless you know exactly what you're doing, NEVER modify the main SugarCRM files in the [root]/modules/ folder!) In the previously mentioned custom module folder are two sub-folders, "sugarpdf", which has the code that accesses the modules/database to get the information to write to the pdf, and a "tpls" folder that holds the layout information for the header, body, and footer of the pdf, in HTML format, using the information from the sugarpdf folder's file.
I strongly recommend you visit the SugarCRM developer forums where you will be in touch with many developers much more experienced than me in Sugar.
