Importing MS Project 2013 data into Oracle 11g database - oracle

Does anyone know if there is a straightforward way to get data out of MS Project 2013 and into Oracle 11g? We have a master schedule created in MS Proj and want to create a web-based application that will perform monitoring and metrics charting of the project schedule statuses. I have successfully exported to CSV and imported into Oracle, but this was cumbersome and required a lot of formatting of the data in the CSV format before it was pushed back into Oracle. I'm in the beginning phases here, but wanted to solicit anyone who may have had experience with this in the past.

If you don't mind writing a little code, you could use MPXJ. You should be able to extract what you need using Java or a .Net language. You can perform the import directly in code, or just generate a suitably formatted output file for import into Oracle using other tools.

export jobs from talend DI to talend big data

I am new to talend ETL tool.I have created jobs workflow in talend DI(data integration) tool now I want to switch/implement same jobs using hadoop for that I am using talend Big Data tool. Can anybody explain me how could I achieve this. Talend DI to Talend Big Data integration.
As per my understanding liberaries are different for both DI and Big Data Talend tool may be because of this import is not possible.
Talend checks the version of the enviromeent before importing items, you can dodge it by deleting the talend.project file from the exported directory or archive.
I have had success with editing the talend.project file so the version shown matches the one you are trying to import TO (if they are different).
I imagine this may not always work if you are using components or features that are not compatible with the target version.

How can I perform a data compare on a VS 2013 SSDT project programmatically?

Visual Studio 2013 has a feature that allows for performing a data compare between your SSDT project and a target database.
According to another post here on SO, there are certain requirements with regards to performing such a compare.
Those requirements taken into consideration, I want to do something like this as a part of our build and deployment process:
Publish any DB schema changes to the target database(s) to make sure that source and target have exactly the same tables, columns, SP's, etc. to comply with the requirements mentioned in the link above
Run a data compare and generate an update script, or publish any changes in the source DB directly to the target DB
Currently, I have a script which takes care of bullet no. 1 by doing a schema compare, using a DACPAC, via sqlpackage.exe. It does not look like it is possible to perform a data compare using sqlpackage, though, and I have not found any other alternatives yet. In VS 2010 it was possible to run a data compare via the command window, but I have not seen any documentation regarding this in VS 2013...
Thus, my question is if there exists an API and/or other tools that allows for a data compare to be run programmatically through e.g. a Powershell script.
It appears you are correct, for schema diff there is command line support as long as SSDT is installed on disk (more details here), but there is no programmatic interface yet for data compare and update.

Visual Studio 2013 - DB Data Compare

I know you can compare and sync data between databases in Visual Studio using SSDT. But is there a way to compare DB data in DB project vs actual DB?
We currently use RedGate to sync schema and data and normally when someone makes a data change in their local DB he syncs it with redgate project scripts and checks them in to GIT so that everyone can sync their local DBs with those redgate scripts to be up to date. RedGate became too expensive and we are looking at the alternatives and looks like Visual Studio has SSDT that allows to do these kind of things.
So I was able to create a database project in VS and import the schema from the DB so now all developers be up to date if schema changes but it doesn't have an option to do the same thing with DB data. No option to create data scripts (and add them to the database project) to compare with DB, as I said it only allows you to do data compare between DBs but not between DB and the DB project scripts, at least that's what I found so far. Is there even a way to do it so that we can include data scripts and be able to sync them with DBs?
You could check in MERGE-scripts for static tables and include them as Post Scripts.
The merge statements will ensure that your target tables have the correct rows when publishing (insert/update/delete in the merge will do this).
Make one merge script file per table, and include them all in your Post Script File.
Only difference/downside is that you can not import into the merge script, you have to type in the code to get it version controlled, or write an SP that generates the SQL Merge statement.

SQL Developer - No readers registered for SQL type error

I am using Oracle 11g. I had exported data using the installed version of SQL Developer to a sql file called "export.sql". Now, I have downloaded the new version which is 3.1.07 and when I try to import data by clicking on the tree view and choosing Tables | Import Data and navigating to "export.sql", I get the following error:
no readers are registered for the sql type
When I first started the application it asked for the path to java.exe and I have shown that path and application started. I have the started the application from the path where it was downloaded (C:\users\kaushik\Downloads\sqldeveloper)
You can call the file directly from sql developer.
Example: If you saved you file to c:\Oracle\MyBackups\Export.sql
Then from within Sql Developer, connect to your database and use the sql command:
#C:\Oracle\MyBackups\Export.sql
and that will execute the Export.Sql script.
If you have a valid SQL file, you simply need to execute the script. Open the file (File | Open and navigate to export.sql), hit the Run Script button (F5 on Windows), and choose the connection you want to use. The Data Import Wizard supports a number of different file formats (Excel, CSV, etc.). It doesn't support SQL files. If you want to ask the developers why they don't support SQL (or why they use the general file navigation dialog rather than using different dialogs for different sorts of files) you can ask them over in the SQL Developer forum on OTN. I assume the problem is that most SQL scripts contain much more than simple INSERT statements and it would be challenging to figure out whether any particular script was actually just a bunch of INSERT statements that could be used to import data.
Yes, SQL Developer is written in Java so you need to have an appropriate version of the JVM installed. Different SQL Developer download options include a bundled JVM or you can download a smaller file and use an already installed JVM.
One of oracle client tools to make session to database is sqlDeveloper and its graphical interface tool Programmed with Java Lang and its installed independently from oracle_home its a stand alone product and Of Course it needs SDK Or JDK to work
make sure to set the path and check it
read this link http://www.ehow.com/how_5127784_set-java-path.html
all of this if sql developer didn't run and other similar problem
this to answer
Is JDK is needed or what ? Yes
use sql Developer higher version
i am upgraded to Version 20.2.0.175
issue resolved

Looking for guidance with reporting in Business Intelligence Development Studio

I've been using Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio for multiple manual SQL queries for Excel reports up until this point. I'd now like to automate my processes further with Microsoft Business Intelligence Development Studio and generate reports using this rather than Excel.
Here's a rough overview of what I'm looking to do:
Combine multiple data sources including SQL Server and Excel data
Generate a report using this combined data
Re-use this report in the future with different criteria and Excel data. While the SQL Server data sources would remain the same, Excel data would change for every report run.
My access to the SQL servers is read-only. I'm not an administrator on the PC I have access to due to tight security.
I've played around with both SSIS packages and reports, but am not quite sure where to begin. I did create an SSIS package that combines the SQL server and Excel data using a Merge Join transformation, but am not quite sure what to do with the created package or if that package can even be used in a report.
Any guidance would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Since you have BIDS, you have various options to send data to your users:
Create reports in SSRS
Export the SSRS report to Excel
Create SSIS packages to export CSV files that are read by Excel (I used this model to mimic the report data caching ability of SSRS)
The SQL Server Reporting Services book is a great place to start.
