I do not know if this is possible (I suspect that it isn't), but can you change the default program for a file type for only a specific folder and the folder's sub-folders in Windows 7?
What I am trying to do is set the html files in a specific folder to open in Notepad++ by default, and everywhere else, open in Chrome (which is the current default).
I do know how to change the global default program for a file extension, but that is not what I am trying to do in this case.
Thank you in advance.

In a word: Impossible
The registry cant be customised for an individual folder it is all or nothing.

anyone know of a utility or script that can remove files attached within a PDF file? I am using pdftk to get the attached files using the unpack_files option, however there is not a way to remove those files from the PDF on this software, which is what I really need to happen. Any suggestions are appreciated.
Found a utility called Coherent PDF which will do this in case someone else is needing this.

when i turn on my laptop a dialog box opens
asking me to how to open the file. It comes after logging into my wn10 user account. It comes before i start any programs. At first i was ignoring this but wen i select notepad from the list and viewed it this was shown.
I dont know what it is or y it is happenining, i have done nothing related to this. how to stop this?
Normally is when a file named with your username is created. You need just to delete it and it'll be ok. It is located in your Users folder. Follow one of these links if you don't find its location: first link and second link.

So I am accidentally moved my downloads folder as the User directory. I was able to reverse this change and get the downloads folder to be within the User directory.
However, I am left with a problem, in explorer, the User directory (Fishsticks in the cmd window) has been left labeled as Downloads. I am wondering if there is anyway, by changing registry values or otherwise, to relabel the folder so that it appears with the write name in explorer.

I am aware that it is not possible to rename the folder, I just want it to appear with the right name.
Edit or delete the hidden desktop.ini file in c:\Users\yourusername\, specifically the line that starts with LocalizedResourceName= needs to be removed.

I am trying to install a ClickOnce application and it is not working. I am told to delete the C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Apps\2.0 folder. However I do not even have a C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Apps folder. I have tried just creating a folder named 'Apps' there and then starting the application but I still get the same error.
Why does my computer not have a C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Apps folder?
You probably need to check "C:\Users\Nate\AppData\Roaming" and not "Local". You can see your appdata folder by typing "%appdata% in start -> run.
This is a hidden folder. Make sure that you have set your folder options to show all hidden folders, otherwise you will not see it.

All my .bat files are opening automatically in notepad. Anyone know what kind of file I need to associate it? I tried to associate to "Windows command processor", but it only opened the "command-prompt", and didn't execute it.
Try removing the .bat file association in the registry. See this link for more details.
You should just be able to remove the "UserChoice" sub-folder.
