I am trying to figure out how to make the browser to cover both displays (on a dual-screen setup, with same resolution on both screens) on Fullscreen mode under MS Windows.
I have checked the developer tools, but that only emulates the display.
Some MS Windows utilities do offer this feature but it doesn't work for Google Chrome browser. And also its not fullscreen mode.
If there isn't any chrome-extension available, can you point out if this is possible through writing a chrome-extension ?
Any pointers are more than welcome.

I got this working using nVidia desktop mosaic feature.
Still looking for driver independent solution.
Move your windows to the left screen and place your mouse cursor on the left end of the window and press + hold and pull to stretch it, that would extend to the next screen as well and it would stay until u close the windows.
Note : you would need to perform this for every windows and application individually.

Our agency has a Java web application that uses a third party Java applet as a TIFF viewer. In this application javascript spawns a separate window (and yes, it must be a separate window). We are currently using an in-house ActiveX control so that the HTML window can have the window state, window size and position, and screen device presisted and restored via localStorage. Our agency is IE11 only so for now using it is not a problem. It's embedded in the page and operates on the "containing window".
This control was made many years ago in VB6. It appears that Visual Studio doesn't support the creation of ActiveX controls, and I don't personally have the knowledge or skill to create one another way.
Please do not suggest the HTML DOM window and screen objects! Most answers I've searched for just refer to these! They can't get the entire browser window size (viewport + chrome + toolbars + titlebar), nor does javascript have any idea about Windows-specific things like window state and screen device (it's always the OS primary screen). I understand the HTML DOM can't be tied to anything OS-specific in order for it to be implementable on multiple platforms.
Up until now this control has worked pretty well - you can, for example, maximize on a given screen and restore the window to the same screen. But I realize that ActiveX won't be supported forever and it's IE only...It seems to me, though, that the need for such functionality can't be totally uncommon. I'm guessing that some may suggest that the application UI should be changed so that this is less of a problem - but being able to put the viewer on a different monitor from the application, and having that window be restored exactly to it's last position is important to us. I do understand that if you reuse that window the user only has to position it once, but we'd rather not require this of the user.
Question: are there any alternatives to interacting with the win32 API other than COM/ActiveX ? Are there any other methods of accurate window persistence that can know about screens other than the OS primary, and maximized/minimized/normal windows) that use something other than the Win32 API?
I need to do a pre-purchase evaluation of a Flash application that is intended for a touch screen.
Since I still don't have the touchscreen now, I need to run the application on my desktop computer and the application is unusable without a visible cursor.
I am using Windows.
Is there a way to unhide the cursor without asking the developers to change the application?
I've previously used remote access software (such as Windows Remote Desktop or TeamViewer) for this purpose. Another option is a virtual machine - in both cases you'll be able to see the cursor on the local/host machine.
If you happen to be on a Windows 8 machine, you might give a try to the Windows Simulator (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/visualstudio/archive/2011/09/29/first-look-at-windows-simulator.aspx, available for free with Visual Studio Express) that additionally simulates multitouch gestures such as pinch/rotate with only a mouse.
A few other ideas:
1) You can try using the "Show location of pointer when I press the CTRL key" mouse visibility property (Control Panel - Hardware and Sound - Devices and Printers - Mouse - Pointer options). Although not entirely convenient, it might help you if the application doesn't require quick response times.
2) If the application is distributed as a .swf file and the right button hasn't been disabled, sometimes right-clicking (anywhere in the application) to bring up the context menu will cause the cursor to show up and remain visible.
I'm developing a app that will be available at a regional fair and the public will use it to quickly download "perks" to theirs pen-drives. BUT when you move your mouse to the top-right corner of the screen a "menu" appears (there's a similar thing on tablets) and it enables the user to quit/switch-out-of my app, and that I can't allow! How do I block that?
You have to wait for Windows 8.1 i.e. 18th October. 8.1 offers such thing to manage. Moreover it also offers kiosk mode. Through which you can allow only one app to be open on top most.

This is not under the control of your application, it's a feature of the operating system. And as far as I know, there's no way to block it. Typically such changes would be done through group policy settings, but at least in Windows 8, there's no such control available. I'm not sure about Windows 8.1, although I haven't stumbled upon any mention of such features there, either.
Also, this is not the only way for the user to switch out of your application. He could also drag the app down from the top and close it or go to the lower bottom corner to open the start screen, if he's using the mouse. The keyboard would give him even more options, of course.
Is there any way for me 2 be able to change the z-index of a program which I downloaded, so it's always on top of whatever is on my screen? Currently it's pre-programmed to be on top of everything, but once I start a full-screen game, it's not on top anymore.

No, the point of 'full screen' is 'full screen'. Once a game takes full screen control, usually via DirectX or OpenGL, they've taken over the 'hardware output context', not allowing any more games on top of them.
Many games have the option to run 'windowed' in their video options. That forces the game to remain in regular desktop drawing (at a performance cost) and as such allow interaction with the other windows in the desktop window manager.
We have a Linux based system that does not use a Window manager. When we start certain applications (for instance Firefox) from a terminal window (e.g. Firefox &) we find that no matter what we do, we can't get the application to display full screen.
If we run xrandr, it shows the default resolution is 1280x1024, but when we try to maximize Firefox (by pressing F11) the application is only sized to 1203x650.
Another application that seems to have the same problem is the evince PDF reader.
Our application is not configured to run a window manager (and we don't want to add one), so I'm wondering if there is something else that we can do to get these applications to render full screen.

Although you don't want to use a window manager, you might need to use a window manager.
I haven't dug into the X server sources around this, so I can't definitively say X requires a window manager to run properly. But as somebody who writes X client code, and hacks the X server, on minimalist embedded devices with small screens, low CPU power and no GPU... let's just say, all the major players in that space use one, and have good reasons for it.
If you want to avoid chewing up a lot of disk space, RAM or CPU power doing window management, you should check out matchbox. It's a low-footprint window manager designed to meet those criteria, and it's what many folks in that minimalist embedded space are using. My employer uses it on cell phones, configured so that only one app at a time is visible to the user, and the foreground app takes up the whole screen with no window borders. But you can use it other ways, too - Nokia uses it for their Maemo-based network tablets.
You could use xwit(1) to forcibly resize and place the windows. But as as far as I know, X11 in itself does not have the concept of a "maximized" window; the very idea is only added by most window managers and/or applications (like Firefox).
Does passing the "-geometry=1280x1024+0+0" option to Firefox help?
Oh, also... if you don't explicitly set a window manager, you might be unexpectedly falling back to the default X11 window manager. If you're not absolutely positive there's no window manager, you should check into this possibility.
