import neo4j database from windows to ubuntu - windows

I have created a neo4j database on my windows machine.
I have transferred the content of the database directory to my linux machine. This is because I have the community edition which does not support the backup functions.
mtt#mttPC:/var/lib/neo4j/data/log$ sudo service neo4j-service start
WARNING: Max 1024 open files allowed, minimum of 40 000 recommended. See the Neo4j manual.
WARNING! You are using an unsupported Java runtime.
* Please use Oracle(R) Java(TM) 7 to run Neo4j Server. Download "Java Platform (JDK) 7" from:
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html
* Please see http://docs.neo4j.org/ for Neo4j Server installation instructions.
Using additional JVM arguments: -server -XX:+DisableExplicitGC -Dorg.neo4j.server.properties=conf/neo4j-server.properties -Djava.util.logging.config.file=conf/logging.properties -Dlog4j.configuration=file:conf/log4j.properties -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC -XX:+CMSClassUnloadingEnabled
Starting Neo4j Server...WARNING: not changing user
process [21498]... waiting for server to be ready..... Failed to start within 120 seconds.
Neo4j Server may have failed to start, please check the logs.
The file messages.log in the database directory says nothing.
Any idea? Are the windows and linux neo4js compatible? Thank you.
Edit
I have made a fresh install of neo4j on my ubuntu machine.
Now I finally get some logs:
2014-05-16 20:01:10.958+0000 ERROR [o.n.k.EmbeddedGraphDatabase]: Startup failed: Component 'org.neo4j.kernel.impl.transaction.XaDataSourceManager#25984c63' was successfully initialized, but failed to start. Please see attached cause exception.: Component 'org.neo4j.kernel.impl.nioneo.xa.NeoStoreXaDataSource#3d34dcb' was successfully initialized, but failed to start. Please see attached cause exception.: 'neostore' has a store version number that we cannot upgrade from. Expected 'NeoStore v0.A.0' but file is version 'NeoStore v0.A.2'.
2014-05-16 20:01:10.958+0000 INFO [o.n.k.EmbeddedGraphDatabase]: Shutdown started
I should be related to this but I am not sure how to proceed. Is the issue related to the fact that when I copied the database, I just stopped neo4j on my windows machine from the neo4j window?

There is no reason why a Neo4j database should not be transferable between operating systems. Can you please provide the output of data/log/console.log? First thought is that you may have permission issues. The files should be read/write for the user the Neo4j process will run as.

"Failed creating Java" when using Windows Services to start Cassandra

I have had Cassandra 3.11.1 up and running correctly with no Java issues. I've been trying to set it up as a service using Apache Commons Daemon as recommended in the install guide. I was able to install it as a service, but when I attempt to start the service through Windows Services Manager it fails. The log reads:
Commons Daemon procrun (64-bit) started
Running 'cassandra' service...
Starting Service...
Failed creating Java
ServiceStart returned 1
Run Service finished.
Through cassandra config I am pointing to the 64 bit daemon prunsrv application.
Since cassandra seems to be working perfectly on its own it seems like it's a problem with prunsrv, but I have no idea how to track that down. I've seen similar problems, but it always seems to be a 32 vs 64 bit issue or the wrong environment paths for cassandra. Those seem fine for me.
Thank you!

How to safely fix an AWOL ambari system user?

I'm a student working on a test cluster, consisting of around 25 hosts. We installed using Ambari and have FreeIpa running on a host as a dns and ldap server. The rest are typical Hadoop
infrastructure. Hive was failing and I wondered whether the db connection parameters used during the Ambari installation were incorrect and I tried to find a way to re-run the db connection process. I didn't get anywhere and it was late so I left it, ambari interface working.
Next morning, ambari webUI seems to be down. I thought that maybe the webserver needed restarted so I tried the following:
[akidd#dw ~]$ sudo ambari-server start
Using python /usr/bin/python
Starting ambari-server
ERROR: Exiting with exit code 1.
REASON: Unable to detect a system user for Ambari Server.
- If this is a new setup, then run the "ambari-server setup" command to create the user
- If this is an upgrade of an existing setup, run the "ambari-server upgrade" command.
Refer to the Ambari documentation for more information on setup and upgrade.
Can anyone help me to understand what could have happened?
If I run ambari-server setup will the existing cluster be ok assuming I create everything like for like with how it was originally?
Thanks for your help!
#user3535074 You should try to start it with the user that installed it.
If you do run ambari-server setup as current user, remember to choose No the following options:
Customize user account for ambari-server daemon [y/n] (n)? n
Do you want to change Oracle JDK [y/n] (n)? n
Enter advanced database configuration [y/n] (n)? n

and have found out, that jenkins slave to be run as a service requires to have .net 3.x installed (which is not by default on win2012 servers).
After having the 3.5 .net framework installed jenkins slave service got installed without issues (and the server remained in domain).
To not loose time in case you'd hit problems while installing 3.5 framework as I did, refer to this SO answer: Offline installer for .Net 3.5 SP1 not working (disabling the WSUS helped me to get the installation through)
I had this issue:
Service cannot be started. System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: The system cannot find the file specified
at System.Diagnostics.Process.StartWithCreateProcess(ProcessStartInfo startInfo)
at winsw.WrapperService.StartProcess(Process process, String arguments, String executable)
at winsw.WrapperService.OnStart(String[] _)
at System.ServiceProcess.ServiceBase.ServiceQueuedMainCallback(Object state)
And the problem went away when i changed Path to java executable from :
C:\ProgramData\Oracle\Java\javapath\javaw
to
C:\ProgramData\Oracle\Java\javapath\java
I think 'w' is appended by JENKINS anyway.
I have a Windows 8 slave, which does work. Fair chance the Java path is incorrect, mine is set to C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin\java (yes, no .exe or anything, adjust just the Program (x86) Files part if you want to use x64 version) in Jenkins. I also have remote root set (to C:\jenkins) and I have an environment variable HOME set to C:\jenkins\ (yes, one is with \ and the other without), but that's only to make it easy to find the files after installation.
My slave works, appears online and then after a while (of idling mostly) will have connection issues. Disconnecting and reconnecting will then sometimes give the 'All pipe instances are busy' error, in that case I just have to do Launch slave agent a couple of times. Found your question when trying to solve that particular issue...
First thing, you can Go to the slave machine, Go to Jenkins -> Manage -> Manage Nodes and select the Slave and launch via java web start.
by doing this you will download a .jnlp file and launch it using java configured by you.
Make sure you have configured path to javaws.exe in system variable "PATH"(with version 1.6 or higher).
It will launch a window and and display as "Connected".
Now you can click on "File" and install as service.
This fails giving you an exception if the machine does not have .NET 3.x so make sure you have installed it and then try it again.
This works pretty cleanly without any issues.
Hope this helps.
For me this issue was resolved by uninstalling old java.
I encountered a similar issue, when trying to run the slave(agent) from master(jenkins), after making one configuration change as below it worked fine,
the below settings needs to added in the agent node->configure.
JVM option -Djsse.enableSNIExtension=false
At Jenkins->Agent node, for a windows server 2012 slave configuration

Failure with running TorqueBox on Ubuntu Quantal

I'm trying to set up TorqueBox inside Vagrant on Ubuntu Quantal. I've deployed my app into TorqueBox, but when I try to run bin/standalone.sh, it hangs for a long time after "Setting up Bundler" and then simply says "Killed".
I'm at a complete loss as to how to debug this.
I followed this guide for the installation of TorqueBox: http://torquebox.org/documentation/2.3.0/production-setup.html
Here's the full log: https://gist.github.com/elabs-dev/5411966
Is there a dump file in $TORQUEBOX_HOME/jboss/standalone/bin ? If so, it could indicate that the JVM is crashing.
Otherwise, it could be that there is insufficient memory available to deploy whatever you're deploying - how large is your app?

Open CreateDefaultDomain.py file and set ADRS_DOMAIN_PASSWORD.
import os
os.putenv('ADRS_DOMAIN_PASSWORD', 'welcome1')
if not 'ADRS_DOMAIN_PASSWORD' in os.environ:
print("Error: ADRS_DOMAIN_PASSWORD environment variable not set.")

I found this answer:
Domain creation fails after installing on new Windows version (7338577, 7339920, 8654914)
When JDeveloper is installed on a newly released Windows version, it is possible that Jython, which is used by Oracle WebLogic Server's script tool, does not recognize the Windows version and instead assumes that it is running in a Linux environment.
This causes domain creation to fail with the following error in CreateDefaultDomain.log:
wlst > Failed to get environment, environ will be empty: (0, 'Failed to /
execute command ([\'sh\', \'-c\', \'env\']): java.io.IOException: Cannot run /
program "sh": CreateProcess error=2, The system cannot find the file /
specified')/
# wlst > Error: ADRS_DOMAIN_PASSWORD environment variable not set.
The workaround is to obtain a patch for jython-modules.jar, or to run on a supported version of Windows.

I'm using JDeveloper 12.2.1.3.0.
Have the same problem, and all I had to to is exit the JDeploper, kill the Java process in the Task Manager, and restarting JDev again.
