Visual Studio Upgrade Advice - visual-studio

My work is currently using Visual Studio 2005 with Windows Server 2003 (IIS 6). We're looking to finally upgrade our systems.. Our computers are still on Windows XP for goodness sake. We have two options, upgrade to VS 2013 which means we'll have to upgrade our computers to Windows 7 OR upgrade to VS 2010 in which case we can keep Windows XP. We're still on Windows XP because apparently nothing at work is compatible with Windows 7 at the moment, we're working to upgrade everything eventually.
I have the following questions..
Can Visual Studio 2013 run on IIS 6?
If not, is it possible to upgrade to IIS 7 or 8 on Windows Server 2003 or would we have to upgrade the server as well?
Can Visual Studio 2010 run on IIS 6?
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Take in consideration that Windows XP (and Windows Vista) are becoming obsolete in a few weeks.
With that been said better make a plan for updating your OS to Windows 7 or 8. So that means you should go with IIS 7 and above.
As per VS I think try 2013 since we are already in 2014.

Can a C# application developed on Visual Studio 2010 run on Windows 10?

My application is developed in C# on VS 2010 and Windows 7. I want to migrate the application on Windows 10 system.
Are there any patch fix available for the same? As I understand VS 2010 does not have support for Windows 10.

above is the link for service 1 for windows10 try installing hope this solves your problem

Visual studio installer needs windows 10..is there a way around without updating my OS(windows 7)?

Screenshot I want to avoid updating my current OS. The installer says I need windows 10 so I'm tempted to download the lso and see, but it is a pretty big download. I am trying to install visual studio 2013
Check if your Windows 7 is Windows 7 SP 1. Prerequisite:
Express for Windows Desktop (Windows Programs) - Windows 7 SP1 (With IE 10)
You may check if you have SP1 as described here (by going to the System).
If you do not have the SP1, you may go and install it manually from Windows Download Center.

How to install Visual Studio 2013 Community Update 4 or 5 for Windows 7

This is similar to Install Visual Studio 2013 on Windows 7
But there are a few key differences:
I'd like to install the community edition of Visual Studio 2013, not the express edition.
This is a specific question for Update 5. A while back I was able to download Visual Studio 2013 Update 3 for Windows Desktop and it worked fine. But despite a lot of searching, I was only able to find a Windows [8 or 10] installer for Update 5.
LATE EDIT: the computer I'm referring to in point #2 that worked with visual studio 2013 update 3 is not the computer I'm working on now, it turns out that the computer I'm on now didn't have SP1 installed on it.
At first I thought they merged the installers for windows and windows desktop like they did for VS 2015, but when the download finally finished (much to my disappointment) it presented me with a message saying that it was not compatible with windows 7. I wasn't able to find any official news from microsoft saying they were dropping desktop support for update 5, either.
I think this was a problem with update 4, too.
Has anybody successfully installed Visual Studio 2013 Community Update 5 on Windows 7, using a fresh install?
If not, does anybody know where I can still get an iso for VS 2013 Community Update 3?
It seems like everything that used to be a requirements page for VS2013 redirects to a download page for VS2015 now. I'm not having much luck with archive.org, either.
I found this page about VS 2013 compatibility but it does not say anything about the community edition.
https://www.visualstudio.com/en-us/products/visual-studio-2013-compatibility-vs.aspx
I found the problem, when I installed the OS on this machine I didn't realize that I had a Vanilla Windows 7 disk, instead of one that came with Service Pack 1 pre-installed.
I was comparing my experience with 2013 on a different computer that had SP1 already installed, that's why I thought it was due to update 4 & 5, sorry for the mixup!
It appears that Visual Studio 2013 requires Windows 7 SP1 and higher. When I installed SP1 the Visual Studio 2013 Update 5 installer worked as expected. Visual Studio 2013 did not stop working on Windows 7 after update 3. Also, there's a single iso for all OSes now (as opposed to having one for Windows 8+ and one for Windows 7 in Update 3).
It might be worth noting that Microsoft's Visual Studio 2015 compatibility page shows support for "Windows 7", farther down the page in a footnote it says that it requires "the latest service pack for all operating systems". Unfortunately, I just noticed that footnote now.

Can you build Win 8 apps on Windows 7 with VS 2012?

I have the Professional edition of VS 2012 installed on Windows 7. When I go to start new projects, there are really no new types over VS 2010. When I tried to follow along with creating a WRL component as at:-
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/vstudio/jj155856.aspx
I get a HRESULT exception upon attempting to install the template.
Simple question: Does this even work on Windows 7?
Getting started with Windows Store apps:
"Windows Store app development is supported only on Windows 8. You can't develop Windows Store apps on Windows 7 or Windows Server 2012."
So no, it will not work on Windows 7.
You cannot develop Windows Store Apps on Windows 7 you need Windows 8 and Visual Studio 2012. There is a free version of Visual Studio Called Visual Studio Express 2012 for Windows 8. It lets you make Windows Store Apps. If you Install Visual Studio on Windows 7 it blocks the development of Windows Store Apps. So what I am trying to tell you is you need Windows 8 or Windows Server 2012 to Develop Windows Store Apps.
You can download Visual Studio Express 2012 for Windows 8 for free:
http://microsoft.com/express
You can also get a Windows 8 Trial for 90 days for free:

Visual Studio 2008 x86 install on windows 7 64 bit

I am getting an error when the setup autorun executes.
It states that it is not compatible with the 64 bit operating system and does not allow me to install it. Is the VS installer 16 bit? The error also mentions this but I am not sure if it's true.
How can I by-pass this?
If I cannot, can some one suggest another VS that I should purchase? is there a 2008 (or higher) 64 bit version that I should run on windows 7?
I've never had any problems installing VS 2008 Team Suite on Windows 7 x64 RTM. You might have a corrupt installer. Also you may check if this helps.
Not a great help to you, but I am running Visual Studio 2008 Standard edition on Windows 7 64-bit without any issues. My installation was from an MSDN subscription media but it shouldn't make a difference.
There is no 64-bit version of Visual Studio 2008 currently.
There is someone here with a similar problem, you could try their solution.
