Migrating maven service to ant service - maven

I'm working on a liferay portlet developed by another contractor. The project was designed in maven, with all the service classes (service-builder) in a seperate bundle. So when the project is called foo, there are projects like:
foo-portlet
foo-service
foo-service-portlet
foo-service-portlet-service
I don't really understand why the services are splitted like that. And why they aren't part of foo-portlet.
The service.xml is located in foo-service-portlet/src/main/webapp/WEB-INF. There's no build.xml so running service-builder using ant won't work.
Now, we're facing some troubles because of https://issues.liferay.com/browse/MAVEN-37 and I'd like to turn the services into an ant project.
I thought about:
Creating another portlet using the plugins-sdk
Copying the old service.xml and overriding the new one
Running service-builder with ant
Copying the old impl classes and overriding the new ones
Rerunning the service builder using ant
But what will hapen when I deploy the new portlet? Will liferay realize that the tables defined are already there? The old code is already in production and has a lot of data which may not be lost!

How to create a new microservice spring?

I'm using Intellij IDE Ultimate and I create a Project with spring inicializer. The problem is... now I need create more microservices (Spring Boot) but idk how to do this in IDE. I the end I need 3 microservices. Have a terminal command to create a new microservice inside my project? Or a way in the IDE to do this.
What you need to do is creating several modules (normally Maven modules), each of them is a SpringBoot application with its own application context and its own configuration, directories structure, etc.
IntelliJ has a concept of Module which matches very well the Maven module concept.
If you go to File, Project Structure, Project Settings, Modules you can see a very nice view of the current modules (in your case it should be only one). You can add or remove modules there. (Also by just clicking File-New Module, but the Project Structure View is more useful).
If you decide going the Maven way, you can also create your structure in disk and its POMs and import maven project in IntelliJ.
In any case, keep in mind that you will like to deploy every microservice as a separate and autonomous deployable unit.

cannot find service.jar file custom portlet liferay

I am using liferay 6.2 & built a maven portlet and working fine, I want to use its tables to store data for another portlet so that I need its services in this portlet.
But we can't access it externally so i find a way something like: required-deployment-contexts=Portlet-Project1 inside liferay-plugin-package.properties, then found its works for Ant only.
I was also finding the xxx-portlet-service.jar but didn't able to, so that i could manually put it in other portlet's lib folder i.e inside tomcat-webapps-xxxportlet-WEB-INF.
Just want to find how to use xxxLocalService.util in other in maven portlet
The best approach you can implement is a plugin to manage all the interaction with the DB.
First of all you must create a Service with a maven project and include it into your pom.xml in each portlet that you need. Then you can invoke its methods whenever you want because each portlet will store the dependencies.
Create Service Plugin into jar file
Rebuild with mvn clean liferay:build-service
Custom your own methods to manage the iteraction with the DB (LocalServiceUtilImpl and rebuild).
Include this plugin into pom.xml portlets
Rebuild your portlet.
The JAR will be placed in your .m2 folder, then each time that you rebuild your Service Plugin will be updated.
If i understood your question correctly, You need to create service builder project using maven and then you can add as dependency in other project wherever you need access to use xxxLocalServicutil class.

To answer this, manually putting .jar file in lib directory will not help when you are working with maven project

How to combine 3 standalone applications on java and run parallely with maven in spring

How to combine 3 standalone applications on java and run parallely with maven in spring.
The three othe standalone applications run on different Db's and I want to make use of these three in my main Standalone app.
What are the required maven settings i need to follow and what are the best spring components i used.
Any kind of answer is appresiable.

About Maven.
I recomend you to use a Repository Manager (Nexus, Artifactory...). In that repository, you can upload manually your aplications as a jar (I assumed that these three app are not build with Maven, but it could be interesant to migrate them, you should evaluate that).
You have to configure your new app pom.xml and settings.xml to get access to this repository. And then, you can add these dependencies in your new app pom.xml. After that, you can use your applications classes in your new app.
About Spring
Spring Framework, has a lot of things that could help you in your development (like dependency injection, jdbcTemplate and a large etc)
I really recommend you to read the documentation (with the index you can get an idea), and evaluate what things could help you.

Using Google App Engine modules for multi-thread backend update of a Cloud endpoints project

I'm building "read-only" webservice (Google Cloud Endpoints as backend for an Android App) so I created a project using maven:
mvn archetype:generate -Dappengine-version=1.9.10 -Dfilter=com.google.appengine.archetypes:
and selecting archetype hello-endpoints-archetype to have some sample code to work on.
This works well and my app is correctly calling the service as expected (and the service is correctly supplying the data in return).
Now I have to implement an "update" service to periodically (4 to 6 times a dya) update the data supplied to the app. So I added a servlet to my project to be called by cron. Trouble is: one of the library used during this update uses multi-threads which cause an AccessControlException to be thrown because apparently multi-thread is only allowed in backend modules...
But after having read dozens of pages on google app engine, I still don't know how to "break" my application into modules so that particular servlet would be run as a backend module while the already existing servlet keep working as they do. So far, all I got was that I should use an EAR application composed of several WAR modules, but I don't even know if my current application is an EAR or not...
I'm using Eclipse Luna, maven 3.2.1 (embeded with Eclipse), google app engine 1.9.10, writing in Java
Could anyone please help me by explaining the directory structure and/or configuration files I have to look at, modify and/or add?

Eclipse Java EE project and Spring : classnotfoundexception

I am trying to build an project in Eclipse (actually I'm using RAD, so basically eclipse, and when I say 'Java EE Project' I mean an 'Enterprise Application Project').
My Enterprise Application Project (the 'EAR' project) has two module projects :
- service
- web
The service project has some stuff in it, all wired up using Spring.
The web project has its own stuff in it, all wired up using Spring. The UI stuff in the web project needs to use the stuff in the service project.
Both projects are included in the EAR project as modules.
The web project lists the 'service' project as a dependent project in the build path, it's checked off for export, and also has it listed as a EE Module Dependency.
I'm having a really hard time to get this working though:
The spring context in the web project is of course what gets loaded when the application is deployed, and it imports the spring config I need from the service project. This seems to be working fine.
When spring tries to instantiate a bean it throws a ClassNotFoundException. On the very first bean.
I tried simply copying the spring config from my service context and pasting it into my web context, but I got the same ClassNotFoundException.
I have tried instantiating an object of that type (the class that spring says cannot be found) in the java controller class in the web project, and it is successful, both at compile time (no compile errors) and at runtime (no exceptions).
So the classes from my service project are not available on the classpath when spring tries to use them.
Any ideas what's going on here and/or what I might be able to do about it?
There is a class loader policy that you should use ParentClass First . That will be managed either through Application.xml or through web.xml . You need to check your xml's then try.
It's a class loader issue.
Since you're using Spring, I'll assume that you don't have EJBs. If that's the case, why do you need an EAR? Deploy the whole thing as a web project, in a single WAR.
Put all your .class and Spring configuration .xml files in WEB-INF/classes. Load the configuration using org.springframework.web.context.ContextLoaderListener.
I seem to have fixed this - I'm not sure exactly what the problem was but there must have been a small typo in my spring config. I decided to just start fresh with a new spring config and when I started building the new one back up things were working fine. There must have been a problem with the old one.

Unfortunately we're not always able to change project structure. We're working on structures other people have put in place.
I looked into the ParentClassFirst vs ParentClassLast setting - it seems on websphere the ParentClassFirst setting is the default if you don't specify anything, so I'm leaving it without specification to get that functionality.
