I'm on a project which has a requirement to make data visualization. But more than just data visualization, there're some tricky interactive requirements.
Imagine a scatter plot, instead of little circles, clickable rectangles(like button) are placed on the chart. When user clicks on those buttons, the rectangles turns into some input fields, user can type make some inputs.
How to draw these buttons and input fields with d3.js?
After doing some research, the root of the problem is : how to put html in svg? Then there's plenty of questions and answers out there. Basically the solution is to use svg element: foreighObject. refer to this SO question:
Insert HTML code inside SVG Text element

We need to make it move like here.example The code is complex there, I can't figure it out.
I wrote the code my code, but I don’t understand how to make the tooltip move horizontally not behind the mouse, but near the nearest horizontal mark (as in the example)
It is not yet clear where the text above the bold text in the tooltip comes from. How to remove it so that it looks like in the picture?
How do I make the title of the tooltip match the label on the X-axis?
There are many ways to accomplish this. The way I typically do this is to create a series of SVG elements -- such as circles or rects -- using the same scale and data as the paths.
You can make these objects visible or invisible. Either way, you can attach mouseenter, mouseleave events to each to render and populate the tooltip.
Consider the Kendo scatter chart HERE in the telerik demos. What I want is to visually separate the chart area with some background colors. As I know Kendo itself doesn't facilitate such configuration.
I'm tring to solve it within the Kendo. I guess it can be done through svg drawings. But I've never done it before. If it's really impossible is there any way to do it or is there any other scatter chart to fulfill this requirement.(saw somewhat similar thing in google charts)
I'm including the expected result as below.
I came up with this code . It does the exact thing what I want. This is the solution.
I'm working on a dashboard (in Ruby) with rotating views where each set of data includes a D3 visualization.
For the final visualization, I want to pull the circles into a heart shape. I can use a force layout to pull them into a circle (similar to the Obama Budget example), but I haven't had success modifying that into other shapes.
I've read through all the d3 force layout Q&As on Stack Overflow as well as going through related D3 tutorials online.
Does anyone have suggestions for how to do this with D3 (or another tool/library)?
Potential options I'm currently researching:
1) Custom svg "canvass" shape
2) Append to heart-shaped div (found one made with :before/:after pseudo selectors but it currently will only display nodes in the before section)
I have just started using NVD3 for drawing simple charts such as line/pie/bar and such.
I would like to add some mouse interactivity to these charts but cannot find specific documentation nor example code:
allow user to click a specific line point, pie slice, bar component
receive in my program notification of the click with details of the series and point/data row pertinent to the click.
E.g., if I drew sales versus years, I would like user to be able to drill down to sales of a particular year. The line graph onclick example I have seen here are way too coarse for such detailed interaction.
Is there a relevant page(s) that documents the mouse click specifications for these types of charts?
Is it even possible with NVD3?
Thanks.
here you can see the plunker example ,may be you can get some help .
this example is for the pie chart drill down using angularjs and Nvd3 charting lib.

I have a whole bunch of very narrow columns in a DevExpress GridView and I want to save on column header width by making the caption text (which is too wide even at 3-4 letter abbreviations) slanted / diagonal. Well, so I guess I could get rid of text captions and replace them with pictures of diagonal text, at least if GridView will allow sufficient height for the header.
Is there any built-in way to just display the rotated text without going the image way? I don't think I am the first programmer out there trying to squeeze out horizontal space like that, so this doesn't sound like an outlandish thing to support in a popular grid component :-)
If not, and so I do have to use an image for column header, any relevant suggestions or warnings?
XtraGrid does not provide a built in functionality to show column header captions this way. However, this can be done within the CustomDrawColumnHeader event handler. We have posted a tutorial showing how this can be done. By default, it should be located at:
C:\Users\Public\Documents\DevExpress 2010.2 Demos\Components\WinForms\XtraGrid\CS\GridTutorials\GridVerticalHeaders
NOTE, as this feature is implemented using custom draw. It means that this text is only painted this way. Custom drawn text won't be exported or printed.
