Trying to install moodle using xammp, i have tried this using moodle 2.6 and 2.7 and the same issue is occuring.
After the update admin profile page I get a blank screen returning, this should move onto the front page settings to complete the installation but this never appears, I refresh and get into the site only to find it does not work when navigating around and the site is unresponsive?
I have tried using Windows Server 2012 and Windows 8.1, and all browsers with different modes enabled and it fails every time.
Is this a moodle build issue or an issue with the OS or xammp? Even the standalone packaged versions that moodle supply fail?
Probably a php error but you will need to switch on debugging to see the message
Edit /config.php and add these 2 lines
$CFG->debug = 32767;
$CFG->debugdisplay = true;
and try again.
UPDATE:
You'll need to edit your php.ini file and change or add this line:
max_execution_time = 300 ; was 30
I'm using 5 minutes but you can change it to anything you like.
then restart Apache and try again.
I got the same error few days back. I tried the debug mode but it didn't helped. When you look at the url you get it has a query string
?cache=1 or something which indicates something related to cache was the issue.
I deleted the cache manually from $CFG->dataroot [ path is c:/xampp/moodledata - your path may be different. Check your config.php file for the same]. Delete the content of moodledata folder and refresh your page. It should work

Was using LiveServer no problem for quite some time, suddenly I go and refresh the page and it changes /index.html to /undefined. Nothing I do fixes it, if I erase the /undefined, it displays the proper page for a split second then returns to /undefined.
I have attempted to uninstall & restart VSCode then reinstall, unsure what to do from here.
Turns out you cannot use certain words in your JS code or it will ruin it.
I am trying to use WatiN to do some screen scraping type of work. It runs on our site on a scheduler. I have no need to see the UI, I just need it to do the work. I can navigate the sites with no issue , but when trying to downlaod the files I have 2 problems.
Using IE 11 when it comes time to download , I get stuck on the open/save dialog that pops up. I have tried and tried and tried everything to have IE 11 auto download files, but to no avail. I edited the registry, and tried every option in the security tab, but no luck. I tried using SendKey.Sendwait("{TAB}"), to mimic what would need to be pressed , but I get "access denied" I think the "ui" is locked.
so I tried Firefox, firefox is easy to configure "automatic downlaods" .... but
FireFox wont even connect, I get: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it 127.0.0.1:9997 I installed the appropriate jjsh addon and install it globally for all users from the command line, but still no luck.
Any suggestions on how to disable that yellow bar that IE 11 puts at the bottom of the screen to annoy you , or what I might try with firefox? I believe configuring IE 8 to disable the yellow dialog bar is possible, but I am on a windows 8 machine , so I'm stuck with IE 11, or possibly 10.
You can keep trying to find a solution but that solution will probably break in a next release of IE (based on previous experience) to be able to finally solve and be future proof (if there's such a thing in development....) I would suggest to navigate to the page that has the link and get the HREF portion of it and once you have that link just do the download using other ways, like the following:
(this is just pure C#, not watin)
string downloadURL = "http://example.com/retrievePDF.jsp?id=XXXXX";
client.DownloadFile(downloadURL, #"C:\temp\" + fName + ".pdf");
you should replace the downloadURL with the value on the HREF of your download link and you will be able to find the file where you specify it.
I've been working on a Cordova app, and I've suddenly had troubles with Chrome.
I've wanted to start debugging, so I added support for a browser platform, and I use Chrome.
After running the app on Chrome, which worked before, I encountered this problem:
Failed To Create Data Directory
Google Chrome cannot read and write its data directory:
C:/Chromedevsession"
screenshot here: http://prntscr.com/876kax
Things I tried:
Deleting Chrome -> Reinstalling Chrome - found this online
Deleting Windows registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Google\Chrome - there's no
Chrome folder or key inside the Google folder, only an Update folder
While uninstalled, using a different browser as my default browser - the command that runs the app (cordova run) didn't open another
browser (I tried Firefox).
It already worked before, and I don't know why it suddenly happened. I tried upgrading to Windows 10 a few times and it failed, so could there be a problem in the registry?
I solved this issue by editing the run file (platforms/browser/cordova/run) and removing the speech marks from around C:/Chromedevsession on line 33.
The line now reads:
spawn('C:/Program Files (x86)/Google/Chrome/Application/chrome.exe', ['--user-data-dir=C:/Chromedevsession', '--disable-web-security', project]);
This is because the script that launches chrome, uses a folder location that typically can't be created with your permissions. That folder is used for history, bookmarks, cookies, etc (ie user data). This is beneficial for testing out features in Chrome (plugins, etc) and not affecting your normal instance. I don't consider it much of a concern here, more of a nuisance message. If you don't like it you could always just manually create that folder on your system as well.
You can see this here what causes the issue
switch (process.platform) {
case 'darwin':
spawn('open', ['-n', '-a', 'Google\ Chrome', '--args', '--disable-web-security', '--user-data-dir=/tmp/temp_chrome_user_data_dir_for_cordova_browser', project]);
break;
case 'win32':
//TODO: Use regex to fix location of chrome.exe
//TODO: Get --user-data-dir to work for windows
spawn('C:/Program Files (x86)/Google/Chrome/Application/chrome.exe', ['--user-data-dir="C:/Chromedevsession"', '--disable-web-security', project]);
break;
}
Since it can't use that folder, I believe it just reverts to the defaults which on Windows 10 would be
C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default
Remove Space in Path in Registry Policy
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Google\Chrome\UserDataDir
or
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Google\Chrome\UserDataDir
Example:
${roaming_app_data}\Google\Chrome\User_Data
instead of
${roaming_app_data}\Google\Chrome\User Data
There is a simpler solution to this. Just specify the full path to the special directory you want to use for your debug chrome instance. In my case I set the user data directory to a folder next to the default user data directory, called "Debug". The following works for me specified as a script in my package.json:
"start-remote-debugging-browser": "C:\\PROGRA~2\\Google\\Chrome\\Application\\chrome.exe -incognito --app=http://localhost:4200/ --remote-debugging-port=9222 --user-data-dir=C:\\Users\\mmcin\\AppData\\Local\\Google\\Chrome\\User Data\\Debug"
I've spent the last 3 years attempting to get a website partner for an International trading website, but now I have given up on that idea and decided to learn development alone, although still open to a partnership, however at first I installed XAMPP version 1.7.7 and added a CodeIgniter based registration script, but now get this message - Unable to connect to your database server using the provided settings. Filename: C:\xampp\htdocs\system\database\DB_driver.php Line Number: 124
With that problem, together with the CodeIgniter changes and the XAMPP new version 5.6.8 I've decided to upgrade both. However I want to keep the old versions to enable retrieving data that has been entered into the old versions. I prefer to keep the old versions separate so that I know what portions are old and new.
I have attempted to change the name of the old version of XAMPP but I'm unable to do that and get this response - "The action can't be completed because the folder or a file is open in another program." I guess the referred folders are "Apache" and "MySQL". I've gone into XAMPP Control Panel and note "Apache" and "MySQL" are "Running" and if I click "Stop" I get ERROR messages and they don't stop. I've done some research and found that I need to be logged in as "Administrator". I've gone into Win7 Control Panel - User Accounts - and found that I'm listed as "Administrator" password protected. I've tried rebooting but that does not help. I now need guidance but open to suggestions on alternative methods to upgrade that has the same effects as in the previous paragraph.
Being an administrator under XAMPP and an administrator under Win7 are two different things.
Right click the control panel exe file in XAMPP folder and click "Run as administrator" and then Exit the control panel.
If the XAMPP control panel is running the above can't be done and I found I had to reboot to start the control panel fresh, then carry out the above.
Once all of that was done, I renamed the XAMPP folder.
I must be missing something. After downloading AntlrWorks2 I found the executable bin/antlrworks2.exe and bin/antlrworks264.exe. Aren't these supposed to be the standalone version of the tool? Neither works for me; after a NetBeans splash screen, the first times around I got an error message on missing packages; after a couple of times I chose to go on regardless, but now (still after the initial spash screen) there is simply nothing happening at all.
I can't find any tutorial or manual detailing how to run AntlrWorks stand-alone, so any help is much appreciated.
This is due to a bug in the NetBeans platform. I filed a report but it hasn't received a reply yet:
Cannot launch platform application after moving installation folder
Here is a workaround that does not delete any preferences you have customized:
I found that deleting just the var folder under the user's generated
.antlrworks2 settings folder resolves the issue...
Still an issue as of date of this post. Deleting the .antlrworks2 folder from \users\username\AppData\Roaming does work - you can find this folder by putting %APPDATA% into your file explorer address bar (exactly as shown) - that will go to the app data folder for your current user login session. Delete the .antlrworks2 folder and then re-run the app.
