Trying to check if file_exists in an IF statement - codeigniter

i am trying to check if a file exists, however it is in codeigniter behind /application/views folder.
Is there a way to check for this file OR do I need to move it outside the /application/ folder?
any help would be appreciated?
I am calling the filename from the controller like so:
public function event() {
$data['main_content'] = 'event';
$this->load->view('template', $data);
}
then in the file 'template.php' is where I am making the IF statement for IF file_exists then display that file otherwise do nothing:
<?php
$filename = $main_content;
$exists = file_exists('application/views/scripts' . $main_content);
var_dump($exists); // just for testing
$this->load->view('templates/header');
$this->load->view($main_content);
$this->load->view('templates/footer');
if ($exists){
$this->load->view('scripts/'.$main_content.'');
} else{ }
?>

Try the following:
$filename = 'whatever';
$exists = file_exists('application/views/' . $filename);
var_dump($exists); // just for testing
Alternatively, try:
file_exists(realpath(APPPATH . '/views/' . $filename)));
I just tested both ways, both in a controller and a view, and they are working properly.

Laravel Retrieve Images from storage to view

I am using below code to store the uploaded file
$file = $request->file($file_attachment);
$rules = [];
$rules[$file_attachment] = 'required|mimes:jpeg|max:500';
$validator = Validator::make($request->all(), $rules);
if ($validator->fails()) {
return redirect()->back()
->with('uploadErrors', $validator->errors());
}
$userid = session()->get('user')->id;
$destinationPath = config('app.filesDestinationPath') . '/' . $userid . '/';
$uploaded = Storage::put($destinationPath . $file_attachment . '.' . $file->getClientOriginalExtension(), file_get_contents($file->getRealPath()));
The uploaded files are stored in storage/app/2/filename.jpg
I want to show back the user the file he uploaded. How can i do that?
$storage = Storage::get('/2/filename.jpg');
I am getting unreadable texts. I can confirm that the file is read. But how to show it as an image to the user.
Hope i made my point clear.
Working Solution
display.blade.php
<img src="{{ URL::asset('storage/photo.jpg') }}" />
web.php
Route::group(['middleware' => ['web']], function () {
Route::get('storage/{filename}', function ($filename) {
$userid = session()->get('user')->id;
return Storage::get($userid . '/' . $filename);
});
});
Thanks to: #Boghani Chirag and #rkj
File not publicly accessible like you said then read file like this
$userid = session()->get('user')->id;
$contents = Storage::get($userid.'/file.jpg');
Assuming your file is at path storage/app/{$userid}/file.jpg
and default disk is local check config/filesystems.php
File publicly accessible
If you want to make your file publicly accessible then store file inside this storage/app/public folder. You can create subfolders inside it and upload there. Once you store file inside storage/app/public then you have to just create a symbolic link and laravel has artisan command for it.
php artisan storage:link
This create a symbolic link of storage/app/public to public/storage. Means now you can access your file like this
$contents = Storage::disk('public')->get('file.jpg');
here the file physical path is at storage/app/public/file.jpg and it access through symbolic link path public/storage/file.jpg
Suppose you have subfolder storage/app/public/uploads where you store your uploaded files then you can access it like this
$contents = Storage::disk('public')->get('uploads/file.jpg');
When you make your upload in public folder then you can access it in view
echo asset('storage/file.jpg'); //without subfolder uploads
echo asset('storage/uploads/file.jpg');
check for details https://laravel.com/docs/5.6/filesystem#configuration
Remember put your folder in storage/app/public/
Create the symbolic linksymbolic link to access this folder
php artisan storage:link
if you want to access profile images of 2 folder then do like this in your blade file
<img src="{{ asset('storage/2/images/'.$user->profile_image) }}" />
Laravel 8
Controller
class MediaController extends Controller
{
public function show(Request $request, $filename)
{
$folder_name = 'upload';
$filename = 'example_img.jpeg';
$path = $folder_name.'/'.$filename;
if(!Storage::exists($path)){
abort(404);
}
return Storage::response($path);
}
}
Route
Route::get('media/{filename}', [\App\Http\Controllers\MediaController::class, 'show']);
Can you please try this code
routes.php
Route::group(['middleware' => ['web']], function() {
Route::get('storage/storage_inner_folder_fullpath/{filename}', function ($filename) {
return Image::make(storage_path() . '/storage_inner_folder_fullpath/' . $filename)->response();
});
});
view file code
<img src="{{ URL::asset('storage/storage_inner_folder_fullpath/'.$filename) }}" />
Thanks
Try this:
Storage::disk('your_disk_name')->getDriver()->getAdapter()->applyPathPrefix('your_file_name');
Good Luck !
Uploaded like this
$uploadedFile = $request->file('photo');
$photo = "my-prefix" . "_" . time() . "." . $uploadedFile->getClientOriginalExtension();
$photoPath = \Illuminate\Support\Facades\Storage::disk('local')->putFileAs(
"public/avatar",
$uploadedFile,
$photo
);
and then access like this
<img src="{{ asset('storage/avatar/'.$filename) }}" />
Create Route:
Route::get('image/{filename}', 'HomeController#displayImage')->name('image.displayImage');
Create Controller Method:
public function displayImage($filename)
{
$path = storage_public('images/' . $filename);
if (!File::exists($path)) {
abort(404);
}
$file = File::get($path);
$type = File::mimeType($path);
$response = Response::make($file, 200);
$response->header("Content-Type", $type);
return $response;
}
<img src="{{ route('image.displayImage',$article->image_name) }}" alt="" title="">
can You please try this
$storage = Storage::get(['type_column_name']);

Change download filename codeigniter

Convert file name before force download.
I am trying to be able to convert the file name of the stored file name to the orignal file name before download
So when user clicks on a file to download instead of showing
post_1486965530_jeJNHKWXPMrwRpGBYxczIfTbaqhLnDVO.php
Like in image below
It will just rename the downloaded file something like
config.php
Question how to only change the downloaded filename when click on image.
public function downloads($id) {
$this->db->where('attachment_id', $id);
$query = $this->db->get('attachments');
if ($query->num_rows() == 0) {
return false;
}
$path = '';
$file = '';
foreach ($query->result_array() as $result) {
$path .= FCPATH . 'uploads/';
// This gives the stored file name
// This is folder 201702
// Looks like 201702/post_1486965530_jeJNHKWXPMrwRpGBYxczIfTbaqhLnDVO.php
$stored_file_name .= $result['attachment_name'];
// Out puts just example "config.php"
$original .= $result['file_name'];
}
force_download($path . $stored_file_name, NULL);
}
How about that
(imho your foreach loop doesn't make any sense)
public function downloads($id) {
$this->db->where('attachment_id', $id);
$query = $this->db->get('attachments');
if ($query->num_rows() == 0) {
return false;
}
$path = '';
$file = '';
foreach ($query->result_array() as $result) {
$path .= FCPATH . 'uploads/';
// This gives the stored file name
// This is folder 201702
// Looks like 201702/post_1486965530_jeJNHKWXPMrwRpGBYxczIfTbaqhLnDVO.php
$stored_file_name .= $result['attachment_name'];
// Out puts just example "config.php"
$original .= $result['file_name'];
}
force_download("your_filename.txt",file_get_contents($path . $stored_file_name));
}
Simple like that!
force_download(
$filenameWithFileExtension,
file_get_contents($fileToDownload),
mime_content_type($fileToDownload)
);
For this situation use force_download() something like this -
$file_name = "using md5 to convert it on normal text and stroe variable";
$file_path = "It's your file path, where have file in your drive"
$file_path = 'uploads/'.$path;
force_download($file_name, file_get_contents($file_path));
It's simple and working fine. Just need to store your file path and file name store in 2 different variables and pass them in force_download().
Hope it's work.
Good Luck.

Download a file to the desktop where field name equals file name in codeigniter

I have code written to allow someone to enter a date. if the submit date equals the file name then codeigniter should download the file to the desktop. The code shown makes sense to me but when I run it I get 'file was not found'. I can pull the file up on the server though and the name matches what is returned in the mysql database. My end goal is to be able to download the file with the same filename as my submission_date field
if($this->input->post('submit')) {
$trlr_num = $this->input->post('trlr_num');
} elseif($this->uri->segment(4)) {
$trlr_num = $this->uri->segment(4);
}
if( !empty($trlr_num)) {
$query = $this->trailer_model->select_trailer_draw($trlr_num);
$result =& $query->row_array();
if( !empty($result)) {
// Get filepath to bill
$directory = 'http://intranet.gmwdc.com/inc/img/inspection/upload';
$file = $directory.'/'.$result['submission_date'];
$this->load->helper('download');
if(file_exists($file)) {
$data = file_get_contents($file);
force_download($result['submission_date'],$data);
} else {
$this->session->set_status_data('error','File was not found.');
}
return;
} else {
$this->session->set_userdata('error','No Inspection Draw Found');
}
}
You might be referring wrong directory or file name. Also, it seems that $file is having no extension.
$file = $directory . '/' . $result['submission_date'] . $extension;
Edited
Instead of $directory try Codeigniter FCPATH which points to your Codeigniter installation directory.
$file = FCPATH . 'dir1/dir2/' . $result['submission_date'];

How show images in laravel

I want to show all images that are in a particular folder, I have the folder path but I do not see how the number of images there are inside and how show all. Someone could help me?
If your files are inside public or a subfolder of it, this is is a way:
foreach (File::allFiles(public_path().'/assets/img/') as $file)
{
$filename = $file->getRelativePathName();
echo HTML::image('public/assets/img/'.$filename, $filename);
}
This is a router you can use to test it:
Route::any('images', function() {
$images = '';
foreach (File::allFiles(public_path() . '/assets/img/') as $file)
{
$filename = $file->getRelativePathName();
$images .= HTML::image('public/assets/img/'.$filename, $filename);
}
return "<htm><body>$images</body></htm>";
});
Edit the /assets/img/ to your own and just hit http://yourserver.dev/images.

codeigniter export csv in windows platform

function export_csv(){
$this->load->helper('csv');
if(isset($_POST['term_val'])&&$_POST['term_val']<>'0'){
$term = $this->Search_model->get_term($_POST['term_val']);
$term = json_decode($term);
}else{
$term=array();
}
$orders = $this->Order_model->get_orders_export($term,'place_order');
if(count($orders)>0){
foreach($orders as $order){
$sublist['order_id']= $order->order_number;
$sublist['ship_to']= $order->ship_firstname.' '.$order->ship_lastname;
$sublist['order_date']= date('d-m-Y H:i:s',strtotime($order->ordered_on));
$sublist['email_to']= $order->ship_email;
$sublist['city']= $order->ship_city;
$sublist['pincode']= $order->ship_zip;
$sublist['ship_address']= $order->ship_address1.' , '.$order->ship_address2;
$sublist['phone']= $order->ship_phone;
$sublist['product_name']= $order->name;
$sublist['product_id']= $order->product_id;
$sublist['status']= $order->status;
$sublist1[]= $sublist;
}
$delimiter = ";";
$newline = "\r\n";
$heading[]=array('order_id'=>'Order Id','ship_to'=>'Ship To','order_date'=>'Order Date','email_to'=>'Email To',
'city'=>'City','pincode'=>'Pincode','ship_address'=>'Ship Address','phone'=>'Phone','product_name'=>'Product Name','product_id'=>'Product ID','status'=>'status');
$get_csv=array_to_csv1($sublist1,$heading,$delimiter, $newline);
ob_start();
$filename = "orders_" . date('Ymd') . ".xls";
header("Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=\"$filename\"");
header("Content-Type: application/vnd.ms-excel");
// header("Content-type: text/x-csv");
//header("Content-type: text/csv");
// header("Content-type: application/csv");
// header("Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=orders".date('d-M-Y').".csv");
print_r($get_csv);
}else{
redirect($this->config->item('admin_folder').'/orders');
}
}
The above code is the controller function for export CSV and the image is the action taking place when exporting.
Problem : Actually if we export csv using codeigniter it is showing that image as shown above. If we press export csv using codeigniter it it should not show that image , it should directly export csv into excel .
if you want to generate reports in csv format it is very easy with codeigniter. Your model function
function index(){
return $query = $this->db->get('my_table');
//Here you should note i am returning
//the query object instead of
//$query->result() or $query->result_array()
}
Now in controller
function get_report(){
$this->load->model('my_model');
$this->load->dbutil();
$this->load->helper('file');
// get the object
$report = $this->my_model->index();
//pass it to db utility function
$new_report = $this->dbutil->csv_from_result($report);
//Now use it to write file. write_file helper function will do it
write_file('csv_file.csv',$new_report);
//Done
}
No externals are required everything is available in Codeigntier.
The above method will force the file to be downloaded instead of
being opening. Cheers! If you want to write xml file it is easy too.
Just use xml_from_result() method of dbutil and use write_file('xml_file.xml,$new_report)
Visit these links they will help.
Database Utility Class
And
File Helper
***> if you are trying to generate reports in csv format then it will quite
> easy with codeigniter.***
Place this code in your Controller
function get_report()
{
$this->load->model('Main_Model');
$this->load->dbutil();
$this->load->helper('file');
/* get the object */
$report = $this->Main_Model->print_report();
$delimiter = ",";
$newline = "\r\n";
$new_report = $this->dbutil->csv_from_result($report, $delimiter, $newline);
write_file( 'application/third_party/file.csv', $new_report);
$this->load->view('report_success.php');
}
Put this code into Model
public function print_report()
{
return $query = $this->db->query("SELECT * FROM Table_name");
}
report_success.php is just Successful Notification.
Your Report is being Exported. Thank you
Finally Your "file.csv" is generated.
its basically stored at physical storage.
In CodeIgniter/application/third-party/file.csv
it works.
it will help you.
