I am using magento v1.8.0.1. The problem is index.php coming two times in magento url like
http://103.16.130.92/index.php/index.php/admin/system_config/index/key/28a1cf7ee3eaa30083d383d0f70c7753/
I wanted to remove index.php from url for that i follow this link
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/16938860/how-do-i-remove-index-php-from-the-url-in-magento
But the problem is that it is not working and showing 404 error.
I searched all the stuffs but unable to remove index.php from url.

Open up phpMyAdmin or whichever database tool you have available for your site and enter the query:
SELECT * FROM `core_config_data` WHERE `path` LIKE 'web%url';
Make sure none of the returned values end with "index.php" because that really shouldn't be there. This is what a healthy result should look like:
+-----------+---------+----------+-----------------------------+-----------------------------+
| config_id | scope | scope_id | path | value |
+-----------+---------+----------+-----------------------------+-----------------------------+

If you had to adjust any rows clear the cache by deleting var/cache/* in the web folder.

Are you missing your .htaccess file? You would know if you couldn't see the file or if you added index.php/ right after the domain and it worked.
If you don't see the file, here is the default one provided by Magneto install:

Yes, check your .htaccess under magento root folder or you can try index.php with your url ex: localhost/magento/index.php/admin

The problem is that all pages on shop redirects to shop homepage instead of the www. version
So for example now: http://mysite.ext/shop/category/ redirects to http://www.mysite.ext/shop/. It should just redirect to www version.
1) Open the .htaccess file and locate the "RewriteEngine on" line and right after it add the following lines:
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^example.com$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.example.com/$1 [R=301,L]
Once you do this, save the .htaccess file and log in to the Magento admin.
2)Go to the System > Configuration and from the left panel click the "Web" button.
Unfold the "Unsecured" set of options and change the "Base URL" option from http://example.com to http://www.example.com.
Save the changes and your Magento website will be running with www.example.com only!
For Redirecting non-www to www - place the following code on top of .htaccess
RewriteCond %{HTTPS} off
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\.(.*)$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.%{HTTP_HOST}/$1 [R=301,L]
RewriteCond %{HTTPS} on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\.(.*)$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://www.%{HTTP_HOST}/$1 [R=301,L]
Hope this Help !!
I want to redirect URLs like this one http://www.site.com.uy/filtro/?marca=42 to this http://www.site.com.uy/celulares?marca=42
I read lots of forums, docs, etc, for a solution and tried lots of rewrite rules, but I can't find a good solution. I think that the following code should work, but I have not luck.
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/filtro/$
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} ^marca=([0-9]*)$
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.site.com.uy/celulares$1 [R=301,L]
Please, help me make this redirect work.
Thank you!!!

I have a website with a frontend and a backend that all run through index.php. To access the back end you would go to http://www.mysite.com/Admin. This will still run through index.php but then connect to the database and go to the correct directory. The backend manages donation information that is collected on the site.
I want to change the front end to WordPress but still collect donation information in the original database and view it from the backend.
Rather than rewrite all the code, I was wondering if there was a way I could use mod-rewrite and place the WordPress files in a separate directory. This way any request that included /Admin as the start would go through the original index.php and any other request would redirect to directory with WordPress.
I originally tried:
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/Admin
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ gpf/$1 [L]
but a request for /Admin just gives me a 404 error.
Thanks in advance for any help.
This is the full .htaccess file

Try adding an additional condition:
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/Admin
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/gate
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /gpf/$1 [L]
And move the rules after all of the /gate/ rules.
I have installed Magento in Godaddy shared hosting with apache mod_rewrite enabled while installing magento. The installation completed and homepage loaded quite good. But when I try to access any other pages it gives me "500 Internal Server Error" in every page when I access with www.myshop.com/admin or www.myshop.com/sony-vaio-vgn-txn27n-b-11-1-notebook-pc.html.
However, when I access www.myshop.com/index.php/admin and www.myshop.com/index.php/sony-vaio-vgn-txn27n-b-11-1-notebook-pc.html is works just fine.
Godaddy support buys told me they've enabled apache mod_rewrite in shared hosting as well. They suggest me there's some misconfiguration in .htaccess. Can anyone help me. I'm posting the .htaccess here.

Your problem is this line
RewriteBase /home/content/33/7605133/html/
Look at the comment above that line
"you can put here your magento root folder
path relative to web root"
So it needs to be relative to the webroot so if your webroot is /home/content/33/7605133/html/
Which I think it would be then you need to change that line to
RewriteBase /
I just finished a magento installation on a godaddy virtualhost and ran up with the same problem.
The fix was to do the following:
In godaddy host administration panel adjust the php version to match that of your magento installation(in my case magento 1.9.1.0 CE -community edition), I've changed it to 5.4.
Then on your .htaccess file of your magento's base directory change the rewrite base directive to point to the relative path like this:
RewriteBase /
On this same file, add at the end of it the following:
RewriteRule ^index.php/(.*)$ [L]
Add the following directives to the php5.ini file at the root of your godaddy's virtualhost(if it doesn't exist create one with the same exact name specified):
[sourcecode language="php"]
register_globals = on
allow_url_fopen = on
cgi.fix_pathinfo =1
[/sourcecode]
And that's it(don't forget to save all file changes and close the files used.
