I have a gem that is a reference to a private repo that I use. I reference it in my gem file like this:
gem 'google', git: 'git#github.com:radiumsoftware/google.git'
and in my Gemfile.lock the dependency looks like this:
GIT
remote: git#github.com:radiumsoftware/google.git
revision: dff0e3dcddbfd74967b3a0f954922fd3592b5101
specs:
google (0.3.0)
activesupport
faraday (~> 0.8.0)
faraday_middleware
mail-xoauth
multi_json
nokogiri
The gem had previously been vendoring, that is it was in my vendor/cache.
I updated the repo for this Gem and changed to the revision to the new commit but after running bundle install or even bundle update, the gem had moved from vendor/cache to the rvm gems folder.
Can anyone explain why? I am running:
bundler 1.6.2
ruby 2.0.0p353
Run bundle package --all to include git (and path) gems in vendor/cache.

Hi everyone I have recently started developing with this framework, I am having difficulties in starting a project locally.
When I go to run a
bundle install
I get this error message:
Bundler could not find compatible versions for gem "globalize": In Gemfile:

Bundler could not find compatible versions for gem "globalize-accessors": In snapshot (Gemfile.lock):

Running `bundle update` will rebuild your snapshot from scratch, using only the gems in your Gemfile, which may resolve the conflict.
this is the part of the gemfile concerned:
########## Globalization
gem "route_translator", git: "https://github.com/enriclluelles/route_translator.git"
gem 'activemodel-serializers-xml'
gem 'globalize-accessors'
gem 'globalize', github: 'globalize/globalize'
gem 'kaminari', github: "amatsuda/kaminari", branch: '0-17-stable'
gem "kaminari-i18n"
i also tried to run bundle update but it didn't fix the problem
Ruby version:2.3.3
gem -v:2.5.2
The version of globalize in your gemfile seems not to correspond to the version required for globalize-accessors.
Try installing globalize like so :
gem 'globalize', "~> 5.0"
I'm making GitHub blog page with Jekyll. I've failed like numerous times and just forked new one and followed README on the repository.
It's https://github.com/janczizikow/sleek/blob/master/README.md
and I tried to run inside the directory(master) but this msg keeps coming out.
I tried 'gem install bundler' 'gem cleanup' and similar solutions on the internet but still can't fix it. I get that I need another version which is lower one, then how can I remove the current one and install the version I need?
I've never used Ruby so I'm SO lost. A little advice will mean a lot.

Bundler could not find compatible versions for gem "bundler":
In Gemfile:
bundler (~> 1.12) x64-mingw32
Current Bundler version:
bundler (2.0.2)
This Gemfile requires a different version of Bundler.
Perhaps you need to update Bundler by running `gem install bundler`?
Could not find gem 'bundler (~> 1.12)' in any of the relevant sources:
the local ruby installation
Version 2.0.2 comes from gem install bundler, but the project uses bundler version 1.12.
To fix your issue run
gem install bundler -v 1.12
bundle _1.12_ install
To start Jekyll run jekyll serve or bundle exec jekyll serve.
I am trying to install the gems from my Gemfile to my project, but when I have performed "bundle install", the bundler started installing the default gems, but not that one from my Gemfile.

It's not installing "default" packages. It is installing the packages in your Gemfile and the dependencies of those packages. If you see that it's installing packages that you didn't specify in your Gemfile, it's because those packages are dependencies of one or more of the packages in your Gemfile.
From the bundle install documentation:
Install the dependencies specified in your Gemfile
...Bundler will fetch all remote sources, resolve dependencies and
install all needed gems.
You can use the gem dependency command with the --reverse-dependencies flag to see why a gem was installed. In your case use, for example, gem dependency CFPropertyList --reverse-dependencies to see why the CFPropertyList gem was installed. At the very bottom of the output of the command it will tell you which package required it as a dependency.
You can also check your Gemfile.lock file after you've run bundle install to see the list of packages you have installed and their dependencies. Under the specs header you'll see a list of all the packages that was installed. Some of the packages have a list of indented packages underneath them. Those are the dependencies of the package.
For example, let's see why the to_boolean package was installed:
specs:
android-adb-extension (0.1.2)
to_boolean (~> 1.0)
You had the android-adb-extension as a dependency in your Gemfile and if we check the android-adb-extension page on rubygems, we see that to_boolean it's (only) run-time dependency.
I'm fairly new to rails and I encountered this gem conflict, while running bundle install, between ActiveSupport and threetaps-client (which I need to use for my project).
I tried removing the Gemfile.lock file and running bundle install again but it gave me the same error message again. I also tried running bundle update which also gave the same result :(
Bundler could not find compatible versions for gem "activesupport":
In snapshot (Gemfile.lock):
activesupport (3.2.13)
In Gemfile:
threetaps-client (>= 0) ruby depends on
activesupport (~> 3.0.0) ruby
Running `bundle update` will rebuild your snapshot from scratch, using only
the gems in your Gemfile, which may resolve the conflict.
The issue here is that you are using Rails 3.2 (and thus, activesupport 3.2). However, threetaps-client is version locked to rails/activesupport 3.0.x. The easiest solution to this would be to downgrade Rails to 3.0 in your Gemfile with:
gem "rails", "~> 3.0"
And then remove the Gemfile.lock and bundle install again. You should be good to go after that.
EDIT
I was able to get the gem to support activesupport 3.2 (I think). The tests do not pass on this branch, but they did not pass on master either. I assume this probably has to do with credentials or something. Update your Gemfile to use this repo for threetaps-client
gem "threetaps-client", git: "git#github.com:ehowe/3taps-Ruby-Client"
Insert required "your mileage may vary" warning here.
I am trying to install the gem melomel for testing in actionscript. When i require it in my gemfile and bundle update, i get an error saying that it cant find the gem tenderlove-frex and outputs this message:
Could not find gem 'tenderlove-frex (>= 0) ruby', which is required by gem 'spree (>= 0) ruby', in any of the sources.Bundler could not find compatible versions for gem "nokogiri":
In Gemfile:
spree (>= 0) ruby depends on
nokogiri (~> 1.5.0) ruby
spree (>= 0) ruby depends on
nokogiri (1.0.0)
When i remove melomel form my gemfile, bundle updates fine. I have looked all over online and it seems like every location where its been hosted has removed the gem.
Where can I get this gem? i am using ruby 1.9.3.
The frex gem is not hosted on the typical Gemcutter.
To get it, add GitHub to your gem sources:
gem sources -a http://gems.github.com
Then try installing the gem as usual:
gem install tenderlove-frex
In case it's helpful: tenderlove is the handle of Aaron Patterson, one of the top Ruby developers, and as far as I know he's replaced frex and likely has a better solution you can use. For example, can you update your Nokogiri gem to the current version, and also your Spree gem to the current version? This should remove the need for frex.
To see your versions:
$ gem list melomel
melomel (0.6.6)
$ gem list spree
spree (1.2.2)
spree_api (1.2.2)
spree_cmd (1.2.2)
spree_core (1.2.2)
spree_dash (1.2.2)
spree_promo (1.2.2)
spree_sample (1.2.2)
To update:
$ bundle update
To see dependency list for Nokogiri:
$ gem dependency nokogiri
