I'm trying to do this tutorial on using the timeline: https://developer.chrome.com/devtools/docs/demos/too-much-layout
Unfortunately when I go to the timeline in Chrome I am not seeing the view mode options "Events", "Frames" and "Memory". I've read other tutorials and they all seem to show these view modes but for the life of me I cannot figure out how to see them. This is what I see: http://imgur.com/33XEfJ5
Please note that this is not an issue with my version of Chrome. I actually was able to see the view modes when I hooked up my phone and ran the inspector through chrome://inspect. But I need to be able to see them when on my laptop as well.
In the new version the UI was slightly changed.
You can flip overview to frame mode by clicking a small button with vertical bars at the top.
Also memory mode might be enabled by checking Memory checkbox.

Firefox 31 has changed my web console layout and I can't find the option to change it back. Being that I have a widescreen monitor I prefer the console to the right. When I select an array/object to view it opens it in a split as expected, but ever since the update I can't get the split to stack them vertically so they can use more width. Am I just not seeing this option?
Update: For Firefox up to v33 use this plugin, for 34+ behavior has changed. Read this thread on Bugzilla for details: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1084004
This was added in Firefox 34, now in Beta. It is not in Firefox 33, the current release.
If you have the toolbox docked to the side, the Object Viewer pane will automatically drop to the bottom if the toolbox gets too narrow, see this gif for a visual example:
No, you are not missing the option. The option does not exist.
However, here is a quick-and-dirty extension that does what you want for Firefox 31.0 through 34.0:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/oxt4c5o5vypca85/place-webconsole-object-view-vertical%40makyen.foo.xpi
I tested it on Firefox 31.0, 32.0.1, 32.0.2, 33.0b4 (current beta), and 34.0a2 (Aurora, the current alpha). All of them worked. The file the extension changes, webconsole.xul, has 4 slightly different versions in that range of Firefox releases. One of the changes was between 32.0.1 and 32.0.2.
I had another extension for which I was already working on a similar set of compatibility and testing and then Mozilla released FF 32.0.2 today. Leaving this solution as only compatible for 31.0-32.0.1 just didn't sit well with me, so I did the mods to give it the wider compatibility range.
In 34.0a2 the stock behavior of this part of the webconsole is a bit different. The object view automatically shifts from vertical to horizontal depending on how wide the devtools sidebar is. Visually, this is similar to how the inspector behaves in 31.0 (and later). The above extension, when installed on 34.0b, will lock it in the vertical position. Personally, I really don't like the auto-choosing of vertical/horizontal. I would want a control and be able to lock it the way I want it when I am viewing it. This is not supposed to be a glitzy wiz-bang UI thing to get the masses interested. This is a: I want to get my work done now and I want it my way because that's how I work fastest/best. Sorry, I got up on my soapbox there a bit.
It's the icon that has a rectangle at the bottom. In your case (Where the yellow arrow points):
I have tried to get the data-role="backbutton" kendo mobile ui feature to work but I am having issues. When testing the app on my iPhone 4 I get stuck in my app because the back button breaks the UX.
What happens is that when I am testing, I click heaps of back buttons (as they are used quite heavily in my app) and then randomly one decides to slide the previous view into the screen but only goes halfway and then snaps back (or some other type of visual glitch occurs). Then after that, all my navigation breaks down and I get stuck in the last view that I was in. Or better yet the links go to places that they are not supposed to. My tab bar does not work and either do links in the header. I have to exit the app completely, remove it from operating and try again. Seriously something wrong going on here.
I have tried to programatically add the back button by following the Kendo UI documentation but that does not work either. I am left with a button that does absolutely nothing when clicked - it may not even solve the issue anyway. I have looked using developer console in Google Chrome but I can't see any obvious issues.
Has anyone using Kendo Mobile UI experienced this issue before?
I downloaded the latest release of the Kendo UI build and the problem seems to have been resolved. Surprising! I assumed the Kendo framework was a bit more mature to be experiencing such a big issue. It was occurring when using slide transitions in navigation. Here is a link to the bug post on Github https://github.com/telerik/kendo-ui-core/issues/66
I'm trying to build a Firefox add-on based on their SDK and I wanna use panel for this. The panel is connected to a widget, so every time I click on the widget icon the panel shows up.
My problem is that I want the panel to stay visible even if I click on an area outside the panel and to be able to close only based on a certain situations.
Can this be achieved, or the panel API doesn't support this?
Thanks
It can't be achieved through the SDK API. However, you could actually "hack" the panel in order to be persistent, the problem is that you will face with other issue – basically won't go away, and other small stuff.
You can get additional details on Bugzilla if you're interested: Add a "isPersistent" attribute for panels. Notice that the bug is a WONTFIX, but it will give you an idea about the issue you could face. Also, there are some new widgets that will coming in the future, that could mitigate the needs to have the panel "persistent" (they're mentioned and linked in the bug above).
This is the offical sdk method of doing it:
let myPanel = Panel({.....})
let { getActiveView }=require("sdk/view/core");
getActiveView(myPanel).setAttribute("noautohide", true);
Floating panels are not supported by the SDK
I am designing a long Windows Phone 8 page. It is very frustrating that I can't see most of it in the design visuals.
I was wondering if anyone knows a way of being able to see the content visually, at design time, of either the bottom of the page (i.e. scrolling up in the designer), or preferable to be able to see the whole page.
I know you can turn the chrome off, is there any way to turn the view windows masking frame off?
This also applies to trying to see a whole panorama view too!
Thanks
Try temporarily collapsing the controls which are above the controls which is getting off screen. Later you can set that control to required dimensions again.
Instead of removing d:DesignWidth & d:DesignHeight from xaml root tag, just set these values high enough such that all of your content gets displayed.
I am developing an application for WP7 platform (actually WP7.1 sdk). I have a page with an image and couple textboxes in a Grid encapsulated in scrollviwer, that supports both portrait and landscape orientation. I am facing some odd behaviors that rised my two questions:
Is there a solution or at least explanation why in Portrait mode when I focus on any textbox and SIP comes up I cannot scroll through the page in the rest of viewable area? When I try to scroll it with SIP up it always bounces back to the focused textbox so to select another textbox I have to tap elswere to hide the SIP and select another textbox. (its annoying and user unfriendly) In a landscape mode though, I can scroll through the page easily (without bouncing) and select whatever I want with SIP up. I think it has to do something with a fact that in portrait mode without sip you can see all elements and in landscape you have to scroll down to see some textboxes. But if I look into some system apps I see similar pages and it doesnt bounce to focused textbox with the keyboard up, so I dunno what am I doing wrong.
Is there any workaround to correctly position dropdown from autocompletebox control from toolkit while it is declared inside of scrollviewer? Its position is always messed up, most of the time I tried to solve this it showed up over the textbox itself hiding it.
Thanks for your time.
I already did some research but didnt solve anything :-/
Could you please try my solution ?

I would recommend you to read Alex's article on the subject. I think it should answer your problem just fine.
Not really. And you shouldn't have a AutoCompleteBox in a ScrollViewer.
