LocationAwareLogger : No such methodError SLF4J - maven

I am running a maven project on Tomcat 7. And as you may know, the error I am getting many people have it, and I have tried the solutions too, none of them seem to work. Mostly I have tried excluding all slf4j related dependencies to see if it works and some other hacks. I am posting the console and the POM file here. Kindly let me know. I am little bit new in Maven, please consider that while answering. Thank you very much.

Removed the SL4J libraries and added them one by one and checking version solved the problem.

unable to import org.springframework.test.context.ActiveProfiles;

Dears,
I am unable to import "org.springframework.test.context.ActiveProfiles". I am importing it to use #ActiveProfiles annotation.
I have added below dependencies in my pom.xml, also I have cleaned the project and update the maven also but I am still receiving error while importing ActiveProfiles.
This is my pom.xml:

try adding slf4j-api explicitly
<dependency>
<groupId>org.slf4j</groupId>
<artifactId>slf4j-api</artifactId>
<version>1.7.5</version>
</dependency>
Based on your pom.xml, it seems that your project intends to use log 4j. If this is the case, there are three required dependencies: one is sl4j api, the next is the bridge,and the last one is the actual logging framework.
In your case, you have provided, the bridge dependency. However, there are two missing dependencies: the sl4j-api, which says that you are using slfj, and the log4j -- the actual logging framework which would do the logging.

Spring Security java.lang.IncompatibleClassChangeError. Maven Dependency Management issue

Hi I searched this forum for getting the solution of the above problem and some one quoted that using maven's dependency management this kind of issue be rectified. But I generally do not much aware of spring dependency issues so I am posting this problem here.

How should I utilize maven's dependency management to rectify the above issue. please help.
here is reference for this kind of problem from SO
Try this :
<dependency>

<version>3.1.4.RELEASE</version>
<exclusions>
<exclusion>
<groupId>org.springframework</groupId>

project working with ant, fails with maven

We have a Spring Web Application project in production. For whatever the reason the client now wants to handle the project with maven. I tried to convert all the library jar files to maven dependencies. The application builds and gets packaged as war just fine, but when I deploy on my dev server(which is tomcat by the way, production server is also tomcat), it fails with this error:
Caused by: org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Error creating bean with name '(inner bean)#2': FactoryBean threw exception on object creation; nested exception is com.sun.xml.ws.model.RuntimeModelerException: runtime modeler error: Wrapper class ws.merchant.service.jaxws.InitializePayment is not found. Have you run APT to generate them?

va:109)
at org.springframework.beans.factory.support.BeanDefinitionValueResolver.resolveInnerBean(BeanDefinitionValueResolver.java:274)
... 57 more
Caused by: com.sun.xml.ws.model.RuntimeModelerException: runtime modeler error: Wrapper class ws.merchant.service.jaxws.InitializePayment is not found. Have you run APT to generate them?
This is an error I know from other projects with web services. When I see this error, I create the wrapper classes using wsgen and add them to the web service in question.

But the problem is, I dont have this problem when deploying by Ant. I could use the web service just fine.
I am using jaxws-spring.jar for publishing Spring service as a web service. Am i missing some other dependency here? I have been wrestling with this conversion from Ant to Maven for three days, any other tip is also appreciated.
Check your ANT build script to see if it runs "wsgen" somewhere. Probably does and you will most likley need implement in your pom file. If this is the case you can probably use use this plugin in Maven to generate the appropriate artifacts.

Check out this link which seems to describe what you are looking for:

servletcontext.addservlet is undefined

I'm attempting to manually bootstrap the dispatcherservlet as an exercise. The code is
ServletRegistration.Dynamic dispatcher = container.addServlet("appServlet", new DispatcherServlet(appContext));
I'm using javax.servlet-api-3.0.1 (which has addServlet) but I'm getting a method undefined error. However, when I use code complete, the addServlet method appears, even though eclipse IDE tells me the method is undefined for type ServletContext. I'm also using eclipse juno with glassfish. I guess I have some sort of jar conflict - but where? The full error when I try to run is as follows:

Verify what other libraries you have on your build path. It is possible that one of them has a different version of Javax.Servlet. If you cannot remove the additional jar then try changing the order order the libraries are loaded.
I was also facing the same problem but I found the solution:
I was using spring 4.0.4 as dependency and my servlet dependency was
<dependency>
<groupId>javax.servlet</groupId>
<artifactId>servlet-api</artifactId>
<version>2.5</version>
<scope>provided</scope>
</dependency>
This servlet dependency is not compatible with spring 4.x . To make it compatiple I changed it:
<dependency>
<groupId>javax.servlet</groupId>
<artifactId>servlet-api</artifactId>
<version>3.1.0</version>
<scope>provided</scope>
</dependency>
Now it is working. Hope this will help you!
the correct artifact is:
<dependency>
<groupId>javax.servlet</groupId>
<artifactId>javax.servlet-api</artifactId>
<version>3.1.0</version>
</dependency>
I faced the same problem and then found older version of servlet-api.jar in my classpath, to fix the problem I removed that file and added newer version of file from apache-tomcat-7.0.59\lib
Removed old servlet jar, reloaded Pom with:
<groupId>javax.servlet</groupId>
<artifactId>javax.servlet-api</artifactId>
<version>3.1.0</version>
<scope>provided</scope>
