Sublime text 3 character offset highlighting by numeral range - sublimetext

Is there a way/plugin in sublime text 3 for highlighting multiple character offset ranges? The ideal desired functionality would be something like this: given a range of character offsets (e.g. 200-400, 5000-5300, 6400-6450) highlight the corresponding ranges.

This can be done with a WindowCommand plugin. Go to Tools -> New Plugin... and replace the contents with the following:
import sublime
import sublime_plugin
class SelectRegionCommand(sublime_plugin.WindowCommand):
def highlight_region(self, regions):
region_list = []
if "," in regions:
for region in regions.split(","):
region_list.append(tuple(region.split("-")))
else:
region_list.append(tuple(regions.split("-")))
view = self.window.active_view()
view.show(int(region_list[0][0]))
for region in region_list:
begin = int(region[0])
end = int(region[1])
to_highlight = sublime.Region(begin, end)
view.sel().add(to_highlight)
def run(self):
message = "Enter offset range(s) to select, separated by commas:"
default = "0-100"
self.window.show_input_panel(message, default, self.highlight_region, None, None)
Save the file as Packages/User/select_region.py (it should open that directory automatically), where Packages is the directory opened by selecting Preferences -> Browse Packages....
Next, create a custom key binding to trigger the plugin. Open Preferences -> Key Bindings-User and add the following line:
{ "keys": ["ctrl+alt+shift+s"], "command": "select_region" }
If the file is empty, surround the key binding with square brackets [ ]. Save the file, and you're all set. Hitting CtrlAltShiftS will bring up an input panel at the bottom of the window where you can enter the character offsets. Please don't include any spaces, so your input should look like the following:
Hit Enter, and the regions you entered will be selected:
EDIT
I altered the code slightly so that the view scrolls to the beginning of the first region entered (it should be centered on the screen). If you don't want that functionality for some reason, just comment out the view.show(int(region_list[0][0])) line (line 14).

Ace editor - how do I remove/reset indent?

I want to change the behavior of the editor such that when the user presses enter on an empty list bullet, their cursor position is reset to the start of the line (rather than leaving them at the indented amount).
I've tried:
aceEdit.moveCursorTo(rowToUpdate, 0)
aceEdit.getSession().indentRows(rowToUpdate, rowToUpdate, "")
aceEdit.getSession().replace(range(rowToUpdate, 0, rowToUpdate, 0), "")
However, all three of these leave the cursor at the previous indent level. How do I reset the indent level for the line?
Update: adding example.
* list
* list
* list
* <- user presses enter here
_
Cursor is where I placed the underscore above, and can't be reset programmatically to the start of the line using what I listed above. (User can backspace the indents to get back to the start.)
You can use editor.setOption("enableAutoIndent", false) to disable automatic indentation.
If you want a way to keep autoIndent in all cases except the list, try creating an issue on ace's github page
If you want to remove the indentation on particular line you can do
var range = ace.Range
var cursor = editor.getCursorPosition()
var line = editor.session.getLine(cursor.row)
var match = /^\s*\*\s*/
if (match) {
editor.session.replace(new Range(cursor.row, 0, cursor.row, cursor.column), "")
}
If you are making a custom mode, you can give it a custom $outdent and related methods - see MatchingBraceOutdent, for example. I think the full set of indentation-related Mode methods is:
getNextLineIndent
checkOutdent
autoOutdent

Create PySimpleGUI list with a key

I wish to have a list of text items in a PySimpleGUI that I can update later. That is, I want to have a key for the list. This might be vertical or horizontal, and I do not know how many items there will be.
I end up with different use cases, but the current one is to make a single line of text items with different colors. Other times, I need to write and update a customized table, just different enough that the table widget does not work.
Conceptually, I want to do something like this:
layout = [ [sg.T('Titles and Things')], sg.ListThing(key='-data-', [[]]) ]
so that I can:
window['-data-'].update(values=[ [sg.T(v, color=c)] for (v,c) in my_data ])
Another, invalid syntax, way of saying what I want is to use [key="-data-", sg.T('Item1'), sg.T('Item2')].
Is this possible?
You can update individual layout elements but you cannot dynamically change the layout itself.
It is possible to create 2 or more elements, whereby only one of them is visible, and switch them later as needed. Or you can close and re-create the window with another layout. Or combine both approaches.
An example of switching layouts:
def change_layout():
left_col_1 = sg.Column([[sg.Text(f'Text {i}') for i in range(4)]], visible=True, key='col_1')
left_col_2 = sg.Column([[sg.Text(f'Text {i}')] for i in range(6)], visible=False, key='col_2')
visible_1 = True
layout = [[sg.Column([[left_col_1, left_col_2]]), sg.Button('Change layout', key='change')]]
window = sg.Window('window', layout=layout, finalize=True)
while True:
event, values = window.read()
print(event)
print(values)
print(visible_1)
if event in ('Exit', sg.WIN_CLOSED):
break
if event == 'change':
window['col_1'].update(visible=not visible_1)
window['col_2'].update(visible=visible_1)
visible_1 = not visible_1
Please notice that the alternative layouts for the left part (left_col_1, left_col_2) need to be enclosed in a container (column, frame) to keep their position in the window in the moment they are invisible.

My toplevel window in tkinter is no longer being destroyed. It was working fine until I tried changing other aspects of my function

I'm trying to get a popup window to display random text and a picture every time a button is pressed in tkinter. My original code was going to use an if/elif statement to do this. It worked as intended but I thought it might be easier to pair the data in a dictionary since there would be 50 elif statements otherwise (is it frowned upon to use so many? I actually found it easier to read).I was able to get this working but now the toplevel window in tkinter is not being destroyed like it was in the original function. A new Label is just being created on top of it and I can't figure out why. The function code is below. Thanks in advance, any help would be appreciated!
def Add_Gemstone2():
global Addstone
#destroy the previous window if there is one.
try:
AddStone.destroy()
except(AttributeError, NameError):
pass
#create the window.
AddStone=Toplevel()
AddStone.configure(bg='White', height=200, width=325)
AddStone.geometry('325x180+10+100')
# add gemstones to list from file.
gem_stones = open('gemstones.txt')
all_gem_stones = gem_stones.readlines()
gemstones = []
for i in all_gem_stones:
gemstones.append(i.rstrip())
# Add pictures to list.
path = r'C:\Users\Slack\Desktop\PYTHON WORKS\PYTHON GUI PROJECT\gems'
gempictures = []
# r=root, d=directories, f = files
for r,d,f in os.walk(path):
for file in f:
if '.gif' in file:
gempictures.append(os.path.join(r, file))
#create dictionary from lists.
gemdiction = dict(zip(gemstones, gempictures))
key, val = random.choice(list(gemdiction.items()))
# create the labels.
glbl1 = Label(AddStone, text=key, bg='gold', wraplength=300)
glbl1.pack()
image = ImageTk.PhotoImage(Image.open(val))
glbl2 = Label(AddStone, image=image)
glbl2.image = image
glbl2.pack()

Add a Clear button functionality in Custom Keyboard using Swift

I use a custom keyboard which contains a delete and a clear button.I can able to delete the letters using this code
let obj = UIInputViewController()
(obj.textDocumentProxy as UIKeyInput).deleteBackward()
Is it any keyword available to clear whole text in a textfield.
NB: I found this link but it is not apt for my requirement
There is no keyword available for deleting the whole text in the textfield through custom keyboard.
To clear all the text that the UITextDocumentProxy object can access in the textfield before the cursor position
if let word:String = self.textDocumentProxy.documentContextBeforeInput
{
for _: Int in 0 ..< word.characters.count {
self.textDocumentProxy.deleteBackward()
}
}
To delete the text after cursor position, you have to move the cursor forward to delete it.

Multi-line headers for TTabSheet?

I have a TPageControl with several tabs. On one page, the header is a bit too long and appears clipped on a single line. Is it possible to have the tab header be multi-line (ie. like the WordWrap property on buttons)?
In the image below the caption has been set to "This text is too long to fit onto one row". Ideally, this should appear on two rows:
This text is too long to fit
onto one row
For the example below I have set:
TabWidth := 185;
TabHeight := 60;
* EDIT *
The example above does not apply any theme. When a skin is applied (in this case the 3rd party product VCLSkin) and I insert a newline character at runtime, then it works:
Product_Sheet.Caption := (
'This text is too long' + #13#10 + 'to fit onto one row');
Based on the comments below, this suggests that in the absence of a skin, this will need to be custom-drawn.
