I have updated an extension that visual studio said needed updating this morning "SQLite for Windows Phone". I have updated it from Version 3.8.6 to 3.8.7. Now a reference in my project is broken. I would like to roll this back to version 3.8.6. Is this possible?
I guess you can go to "Tools" > "Extensions and updates", search it in the "Installed" section and once selected click the "Uninstall" button.
Then download the .vsix installer of the 3.8.6 version (http://www.sqlite.org/2014/sqlite-wp80-winrt-3080600.vsix or similar) and double-click it to install.
FWIW, the .vsix is actually a .zip file so you can open it to check its contents if you want to be sure about what is going to install.

I uninstalled Visual Studio 2019 and installed it as 2022.
I reinstalled Flutter.
When building Flutter desktop, the following problem is repeated.

so you need to download the latest NuGet Windows x86 Commandline from https://www.nuget.org/downloads
3- put it inside the flutter sdk folder or any folder you like
4- copy the folder path
5- in windows serach, search for env so you can put it as system variables. edit path with a new line and past the folder path
6- restart android studio

Although I don't know why it would work without this error message on the same machine, I recently ran into this issue as well. The way I fixed it was to download the nuget executable and add it to my path.

You can install extension with .vsix file. Firstly, go to https://open-vsx.org/ and download the extension that you want.After downloading you will get VSIX file.Final step: open visual studio and go to EXTENSIONS.Click option icon(•••) and find and click (install from VSIX) and then choose your downloaded .vsix file. Done.

Please try these steps to troubleshoot your issue:
1) delete all vs componment caches under C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Microsoft\VisualStudio\16.0_xxxxx\ComponentModelCache and do not forget to delete all the files under C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Temp
2) disable any third party extensions under Extensions-->Manage Extensions to prevent any other extensions affect it.
3) run VS as administrator and then install the extension again.
4) do a repair in VS Installer
5) If your VS2019 is not the latest version, please update it to the latest version and please update your OS at the same time.
In addition, if all the steps does not work, l suggest you chould reinstall VS2019 and you would better install VS2019 on the default system disk. And there is a similar issue.
After you uninstall VS2019, please check if you have this:%programfiles(x86)%\Microsoft Visual Studio\Installer\resources\app\layout\InstallCleanup.exe.
If so, please launch it from an admin command prompt with a -full param: InstallCleanup.exe -full
If not, please manually delete the %programfiles(x86)%\Microsoft Visual Studio\Installer folder
Then relaunch vs_enterprise.exe and then install VS2019.
I want to install TypeScript 0.9.1.1 only and no other version for MS Visual Studio 2013.

It installs Version 1.0.3.0 (checked from CMD using command "tsc -- version")

Probably your PATH environment variable is wrong, you can check that by executing echo %PATH% and you will probably see something likeC:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SDKs\TypeScript\1.0\; and maybe some extra ones which are before the 0.9 one.
You can also try executing where tsc and maybe you find the path there to the 0.9.1.1 version.
If you find that path you can add it to the environment. You can change that by going to the Control Panel -> System & Security -> and on the left there is "Advanced System settings", click on It and a popup will open. Chose the tab "advanced" there and click the button "Environment variables", there you can change your path. Make sure to add the 0.9.1.1 version before the 1.0 version.
You need to restart cmd after changing this.
I've both VS 2012 and VS 2013 installed on my computer. The problem is that when I download an VSIX-File and open it with the Visual Studio version selector the file gets opened by VS but instead of installing it. VS opens the file as if it was an unknown binary format.

I faced the same issue. Just use the VSIXInstaller to install the extension.
You can open "Developer Command Prompt for VS2012" tool in Start -> Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 -> Visual Studio Tools. On the console, run the below command:
VSIXInstaller <path to vsix file>
Open "Developer Command Prompt for VS2015" as administrator.
Type VSIXInstaller.exe vsixFilePath
Note that this way wouldn't work with me and gives me "Path to vsix file 'G:\Roslyn' is invaild or you don't have required access permissions". To solve this you need to put the path in a double quote like this:
VSIXInstaller.exe "G:\Roslyn SDK.vsix"
I got into a weird situation where in a fresh install of W10 and VS2015 Community, the Player Framework vsix installation won't start, either by dbl click or from command prompt using VSIxInstaller.exe, and would show no message at all. The solution was to open an elevated command prompt (run Developer Command Prompt for VS2015 as administrator) and then type VSIXInstaller.exe worked.
I am not clear whether you want to install or just view the contents of VSIX. If you want to install the extension, you just need to double click it and it will install (Do not try to open it with VS Version selector). If you want to see what is inside VSIX, it is basically an archive. So either try to use program like 7-zip to open it else, rename .vsix to .zip and then unzip it.
Further, there is also a chance that you have wrongly associated vsix files to be opened with Visual Studio. In such a case it will open in Visual Studio any case.
Finally, if you have wrongly associated the vsix to open with Visual Studio, try installing the extension using VSIXInstaller.exe found in C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\Common7\IDE\VSIXInstaller.exe
To add to the other answers, if the VSIX files either doesn't have an associated program to open with or opens with the wrong application, selecting the VSIXInstaller.exe as the associated commands re-enables the ability to double-click and directly install it (without the need to do it via commandline).
I faced a similar issue when I first installed VS 2017. This is what worked for me.
Resolution:
Restart VS 2017.(I hadn't restarted it before installation)
Install it from Tools->Extension & Updates.Search for "Perforce" and install.
I double clicked on this and it installed just fine.
Couldn't do it on VS2013 through the extensions dialog.
for me the problem was the extension InstallerProjects was on network server so I had to copy it to my machine (local) and it worked

Ok, restart VS as administrator, extension manager uninstall nuget.
restart VS as administrator again, search for nuget and install.
Extension manager again says version is: 2.0.30619.9119.
rebuild project:

It looks like problem in nuget command line tool. When you enable 'Nuget package restore' feature it adds .nuget folder to you solution with nuget.exe. And when you compile project this tool is using to download missing packages, not VS extension is used here. So try update this tool from command line:
cd .nuget
nuget.exe update -Self

Run VS 2012 as Administrator
Click Tools -- Extensions and Updates
In the left nav, Updates -- Visual Studio Gallery
Click Update on NuGet Package Manager
Install the update
Restart Visual Studio
None of the offered solutions worked for me (Visual Studio 2013, Nuget Package Manager Version 2.8.5).
I had same error but it was saying I had version 2.5.4.
I fixed it by going to Tools > Nuget Manager Console > Nuget Package Console. This open's up a command line window. At the top of the window was a prompt to download missing packages for my project.
Pressed the download button and errors went away upon build.
I was facing the same issue. I resolved it by selecting Tools on VS 2010 Menu --> Library Package Manager --> Package Manager Settings --> Check "Automatically check for updates". After that I restarted VS and was prompted for Nuget Update Installation. Once the update was installed, the Nuget package, HTTP Client in my case, got installed smoothly.

This above did not work for me, completely. There is one last step that is IMPORTANT to note. After downloading the latest nuget version, you may notice that the same error prints in the output window. The reason is due to the .nuget folder containing a NuGet.exe which specifies a version number.
The solution (for me and perhaps to those of your that did not resolve your issue with the above directions), is to
Delete the .nuget folder from you solution.
Right click your web project and click Enable Nuget Restore.
The directions above should cause a NEW .nuget folder to be added, this time the NuGet.exe should be the newest version of nuget that you downloaded.
