I have moved all users from joomla 2.5.6 to version 3.3.6 via phpmyadmin
every thing is works fine,but the field user groups was empty, just I need to make all users registered.

That's a legacy field from 1.5 and is a red herring, except it indicates that perhaps you had previously had a migration with some unnoticed problems. In 1.6 + users can be in multiple groups and so what matters is the mapping table, as in the linked answer from #lodder. If everything is working fine you probably already have good data in the mapping table.

A very annoying just surfaced. I did some database tweaking, migrated it and manually imported the user table together with some other tables.
Suddenly the home page of my laravel spark won't display properly. It automatically goes to the settings#/subscription page.
The routes are still intact but are the HomeController is not used at all. I've cleared all caches but still the same. No errors in the log.
And even more annoying as I just found out, it only affects existing users that I imported. New users are not affected. So it definitely has something to do with the MySQL import.
I already compared the users values of a new user and an old one and tried to mimick the new one as much as possible. Doesn't work.
Anyone have an idea how to solve this?
It's been a while so you probably got to the bottom of this, but I just ran into the same issue.
In my case, I installed Spark without the team flag and signed up. Later, I added the necessary code to add teams back in without migrating and seeding. In a few places in my code I'm running the teamSubscribed middleware, and that was the crux of my problem. The redirect started looking at the team subscription status instead of the user subscription status.
Since I didn't sign up as a team, those fields were null, and it redirected pages with the middleware.
For others that come across this:
Search your codebase for the middleware (likely either in a constructor or your routes).
Double check your database for the corresponding user or team active trial status.
I currently have just the basic privileges set to joomla’s mysqluser: INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE and SELECT.
But in fact if the this user is being used across the entire site, if any hacker finds a way to get it or to control the queries (sql injection) he will be able to delete the entire content of a website.
My idea would be to have 2 different mysql users in joomla. One to user in the frontend and the other one to be used in the backend (/administrator). In fact the administrator will require the privileges I currently use, but the frontend user will only require SELECT and a few UPDATE and INSERT previligies to some particular tables like banners and session
I know it might sound paranoid, but currently the projects I'm working with require this kind of "paranoid" approach.
I expact any Joomla experts will help me in achieving this.
Firstly, I have seen that you used the Joomla 1.7 tag in your question, but please ensure you are running the latest version of the Joomla 2.5 series, 2.5.9
What you are trying to achieve from what I have read is you want 2 users, 1 that can only log into to the frontend and the other that can log in to the backend. This currently is available in Joomla and would require core code changes which I'm not going to recommend you do. Have a read through another question I answered, giving information and good extensions to help with security.

Then, simply create a separate admin account and only use that one to login to the backend.
I have migrated a Magento site to another server (the same server the database was already hosted on) and I am no longer able to log in or add items to my cart. I have found a few others who have posted about this type of problem but nothing seems to work for me. I have disabled all caching, etc. Ensured that sessions work. Increased the session lifetime. No errors are being logged anywhere. If I enter wrong credentials I get an error. But if I enter the correct information it just keeps returning me to the login page. I have opened permissions completely. Nothing makes any difference! So aggravated. Please help!
Found the issue. Well sort of. I think there was a problem with the timezone (the server I moved to was an hour different from the other) but essentially I resolved the problem by increasing the values for two config items in core_config_data:
UPDATE core_config_data SET value=86400 WHERE path='web/cookie/cookie_lifetime';
UPDATE core_config_data SET value=86400 WHERE path='admin/security/session_cookie_lifetime';
The first query fixed the shopping cart problem, the second the admin login problem.
Again I think there is a mitigating factor here as well, but this at least got me over the hump.
For some reason, when I log into my joomla 1.6 backend, it is now empty, displaying only a logout button. Any Ideas?
I just went through the same problem but on J!1.7.3. There may be many, many reasons but please check using just URL if you can see for example:
[YourDomainHere]/administrator/index.php?option=com_content or
[YourDomainHere]/administrator/index.php?option=com_modules
If content is listing and you're missing just Admin-menu and sub-navigation in back-end --> this means you messed-up with access levels and viewing access.
If you can't see content listing - ignore the rest of this post :-)
...with access levels and viewing access. To check that, try entering [YourDomainHere]/administrator/index.php?option=com_users&view=levels and enter each position in the list. Joomla backend navigation module usually has Access set to Special, so focus on this one. When enter Special - manager, author and super administrator should be ticked. If everything empty in any from the list - this is your issue :)
You need to add manager, author and super administrator to your Special access level. Obviously you can't see Save button, so you need to use database. [wrrr :) sounds scary?] Not a big deal, just go there using for example phpMyAdmin and find _viewlevels table. In there just edit Special and add [6,2,8] values to set up manager, author, super.....
Update database. Try to log-in one more time (close browser and clean cache before).

p.s. There may be a way of 'saving' changes in you joomla access levels with URL. Then you don't need to go to DB .. but I don't know if this is feasible at all :)

Apparently, the Bluestork Template (admin template) has some security issues. In my case there were some missing files in the template folder /administrator/templates/bluestork/ that caused the administrator screen to appear blank. I've copied a clean version of the template in the bluestork folder and after that I was able to see the backend admin area.
I've removed the bluestork templates entirely for now, which seems to be the best option. Joomla installs 2.5.8, 2.5.6, 2.5.2, 1.7.0, 1.6.3 are affected. The Blustork Template is a target for hacks with old Joomla.

I am developing a website where I need to create two user types. One is "member" and the other is "merchant". Both have different areas to be accessed. I am really confused on how can I achieve this.
Also I am trying to add my custom fields of First name and Password in the default Joomla registration form. As soon as I add a new TR with field first name the registration form stops working.
Can you guys help me in doing this?
If you have some troubles with default Joomla registrtion, you could use Community Builder. It is pretty easy to add fields to users profile and users registration. To separate members and merchants you could add field to the registration form called for example Account type. And then according to its value assign new user as registered(members) or author(merchant).
First, adding user types in 1.5 is not going to accomplish the access requirements you have described. You would need to install an access control component to control different user types accessing different content.
Next, Joomla 1.5 is nearing end of life, April 2012 to be exact. Version 1.7.x released last week so you should very seriously consider moving the site to the latest version. An added bonus is that Joomla 1.7.x has built in access control levels that would accomplish what you are trying to do.
Regarding different access levels best thing to do would be upgrade to Joomla 1.6/1.7 It has this functionality built in. It may be possible to achieve this in 1.5 with third party components, but I don't have any experience with this.
Regarding custom registration fields, again, if you upgrade to 1.6/1.7 it has User - Profile plugin which allows to add additional fields to your registration form.
In 1.5 you can use third party components such as ExtendedReg (commercial).
