Laravel : Delete all records that are not in array

I have a datepicker calendar in my views, and basically I need to synchronize the selected dates (that I send in ajax) with a BoxDeliveryDate model (which only has one column named "date").
So in my Controller I was able to write a pretty nice method to only create a new record if one the selected dates is not yet stored in the database, like this :
foreach (Request::get('dates') as $date) {
$date_formated = date('Y-m-d', strtotime($date));
BoxDeliveryDate::firstOrCreate(['date'=>$date_formated]);
}
Now, if the user de-select one the dates in the datepicker, later, and synchronize, I need to delete it from the database.
Is there a nice way to do that in Laravel ? In other words, to delete every record of the table that are NOT in my Request::get('dates') ?
Also, I searched for a simple way to synchronize everything with only one method, but couldn't find anything.
Thanks for helping !
You can use whereNotIn() for that:
BoxDeliveryDate::whereNotIn('date', Request::get('dates'))->delete();
Note that this will not trigger any model events nor will it work with soft delete. Also, depending on the format of dates you might have to format the array before passing it to whereNotIn().
Also I believe it should be Request::input('dates') but it's possible that both actually works...
I would highly recommend using the soft delete trait (built into Laravel) if your doing mass deletes!
http://laravel.com/docs/4.2/eloquent#soft-deleting
$this->model->whereNotIn('id', $ids)->delete();

How VirtueMart sends the data when you save the custom fields in a product

first of all, sorry for my english, but I'll try to explain myself best I can.
My question is little tricky, because I made some important changes in the core code of VirtueMart.
For some reasons, I added an attribute to the Custom Fields, like Price, called Availability.
TIP: The admin site is in Spanish. Disponibilidad = Availability
So, now, when I try to change any value of any created Custom Field, I can't save it. I mean, I can change the value, but when I apply them, It doesn't be saved.
The only field that I can change, is the field I created, the Availability (ironically).
So, my principal question is, how does VirtueMart to pick up the data from the table and sends them to the database?
I work with
Joomla v.2.5.11
VirtueMart 2
Thanks
The workflow is like follows,
When you save the products details on the backend , It calls a function store() on the product.php model. under administrator/components/com_virtuemart/models/. Inside this function an area like follows.
if(!class_exists('VirtueMartModelCustom')) require(JPATH_VM_ADMINISTRATOR.DS.'models'.DS.'custom.php');
VirtueMartModelCustom::saveModelCustomfields('product',$data,$product_data->virtuemart_product_id);
It loading the custom model file from the same path and do the task inside saveModelCustomfields()
Hope it helps..

creating a form field populated by a relationship in Laravel 4

I am trying to build a form for a Happening. The Happening references a Places table by place_id.
e.g. happening "OktoberFest" has a place_id 123 which corresponds in table Places to München
These are the relationships declared in the models:
For model Place:
public function happenings()
{
return $this->hasMany('Happening');
}
For model Happening:
public function place()
{
return $this->belongsTo('Place');
}
model Happening has a place_id field linking it to Place.
I am also using {{Form::model($happening, array('route' => array('happenings.update', $happening->id)...}} as form opening
Problem 1: how to create a {{Form::text('......')}} that will be properly prefilled with München when editing the happening Oktoberfest ?
Problem 2: I was trying to get that field to work as an ajax autosuggest (i.e. starting to pull suggestions from the Places table as soon as 3 characters have been entered). I have checked a few implementations but they don't seem to mix correctly with Problem 1
To try and solve Problem 1, I have tried the solution here
Laravel 4 Form builder Custom Fields Macro
but I was unable to make it work.
Long question, it's my very first on stack overflow, please be patient :)
If a Happening is linked to Place via the column 'place_id' you have to supply an id to save in your model/table.
There are a couple of ways that I can think of:
make a list of availble Places in a radio of select, the name will be 'place_id', the value the id of the Place en something like title for the value.
instead of displaying radio's or a select a textfield with autocomplete is a great solution if you got a lot of places. I won't go into detail how to implement it but the general idea is to autocomplete the typed in placename and on selection of that place to put the id of that place in a hidden field named 'placed_id'
After saving the form save your model with the posted place_id
(and check that id if it's valid and existing, never trust user input )

Magento: Add New Field to Credit Card Form

I'm trying to modify the credit card form to add some new custom fields named "Bank Name" and "Bank Phone Number" and it seems this cannot be done through the back-end.
I've searched the web and on here but I haven't been able to find anything in reference on how to add a new custom field to the credit card form. I would think it's almost the same as adding a new field to the customer registration form but I have no clue what to do database wise.
If anyone has anything I can use to work on this, I'd greatly appreciate it.
You should start by informing which version of Magento you are using and which methods you have already tried.
Without knowing that it is hard to help you, but you might want to try this possible solution, this one, or even one of these modules: Checkout Fields Manager or ADDITIONAL CHECKOUT ATTRIBUTES. If none of the above work, try this search.
No, Magento admin panel will not add custom columns for you. You need to do it yourself.
First, you need to edit the .phtml file to include these two fields to show up in frontend.
Second, you need to add two new columns (with same name as your fields, explained later) in relevant DB table (i guess sales_flat_order_payment). But that will affect for all payment methods, so define it something like VARCHAR(255) NULL.
Third, when Magento saves the CC info, you need to check if it is saving whole data array, then your field's name posted will match your table field and get inserted automatically. Else you need to edit it.
Also, next time please post some code, atleast something you have tried.

A panoply of queries about Magento databases

Through which file are new customers created and saved in Magento databases?
Which function is used?
Please provide me with full path locations and function names.
Also tell me about customer groups. From where and through which files/functions do customer groups get saved in Magento?
How are customers and customer groups related?
How can I "catch" customer IDs and customer group IDs from those files?
I find the file through which Magento saves New Customer-:
/magento/app/code/core/Mage/Adminhtml/controllers/CustomerController.php
In the file CustomerController.php, there is a function saveAction() which saves a customer in Magento db.
I wanted to know how to catch Newly created customer's id(I guesss i.e. Entity Id in Customer_entity table for Magento db) from that CustomerController.php file.
I tried this but it won't work for me-"
$customer_data = Mage::getModel('customer/customer')->load($customer_id);
Anybody knows how to catch customer id while creation of new customer???
Try to search here:
Mage_Customer_AccountController->createPostAction
Well class name means
(root)/app/code/core/Mage/Customer/controllers/AccountControlller
Mage_Adminhtml_Customer_GroupController
Take a look at the AccountController.php at app/code/core/Mage/Customer/controllers, it will give you an idea how customer registration is processed.
Basically an instance of Mage_Customer_Model_Customer is created, proper data is assigned to it (collected from a post form on the registraton form or received via a webservice call) and the model is saved. The internal Magento mechanics work to put this data in proper db tables.
See also create function of the Mage_Customer_Model_Customer_Api class.
customer groups are created in Mage_Adminhtml_Customer_GroupController->saveAction(), the model being used is Mage_Customer_Model_Group
actually customer group is assigned from backend,by default general group is selected for customer group, if you want to get customer groups then you can use this code Mage::helper('customer')->getGroups()->toOptionArray();
Search for this file
/YourProject/app/code/core/Mage/Customer/controllers/AccountController.php
Search for this function name
public function createPostAction() //Magento saves New Customer
This above mentioned function is responsible for new customer registration.
print_r($this->getRequest()->getPost()); //get all the post data
print_r($session); //get all the session data
