I installed a Mac 10.6.8 on VMWare sometime ago just to get a feel of OSX, I want to know what is the best way to upgrade my OSX 10.6.8 to upgrade to the latest version on VMWare
I am using VMware Work Station on Windows 7. The VMWare version is 10.0.1. Please help
I'm going to assume you mean, how to upgrade to the latest version of OS X, AKA "Yosemite" or OS X 10.10, right? You need to do this:
First, find out if your VMWare instance can run OS X Yosemite.
Back up your current installation.
Get OS X Yosemite from the Mac App
Store.
Double-click Install OS X Yosemite to begin installation.

I am successfully running Scilab 6.1 on Mac Os Catalina. According to the excellent webpage
https://www.utc.fr/~mottelet/scilab_for_macOS.html
6.1.1 runs on Mac OS Big Sur
However, I can find no mentions on that page (or scouring the internet) whether 6.1.1 runs on Mac OS Monterey. Before upgrading from Catalina, I need to know this.
Can anyone confirm successful operation of 6.1.1 on Monterey?
thank you
I was reported that the macOS M1 build works on Monterey. Likely, the Intel build should also work, even if you may have a warning at launch (concerning the OS version).
I have a Mac app that I built on the latest Xcode on an OS X 10.8 machine. Some of our beta testers are getting crashes on 10.7. Here in the office we don't have any machines with 10.7 on them.
On iOS we have the simulator to test on iOS 5. How can I do this with the Mac? Do I need to purchase a machine with OS X 10.7 on it in order to test?
Thanks.
Looks like the latest version of VMWare Fusion does OS X virtualization. I'll give that a try.
Currently I am developing a Mac OS X app with XCode 3.2.5 on Mac OS X 10.6.8, the target is Release i-386. Will my app run normally on Lion?
Do I need to use XCode 4.0+?
Thanks
Every app built under the 10.6 SDK should, theoretically, work just as well under 10.7.
And you can use Xcode 3.X too, if you want. But yes, I'd recommend using the latest and greatest versions of Xcode (version 4) for development.
How can I install JDK 1.6 on Mac OSX Leopard?
In Software Update today I updated Java, and it upgraded from 1.5.0_26 to 1.5.0_28 (This is not 1.6!). I have Xcode Tools installed, version 3.0. On the download site it didn't list Mac.
JDK 6 (1.6) is preinstalled in both OS X 10.5 and 10.6. I actually didn't realize this, but it requires 64-bit hardware.
Until Mac OS X 10.7 (currently unreleased), the Java updates were maintained in-house by Apple. In 10.7, Java will no longer be maintained by Apple.
I opened Java Preferences and made Java SE 6 the first version to use
Is there an easy way to install / download the Mac OS X 10.5 SDK on Snow Leopard?
I have Xcode 4.0 installed via the Mac App Store. I can also download it from the developer site if necessary but I don't know if it includes the 10.5 SDK.
I need the 10.5 SDK for building Android. It is a hard requirement stated in the docs. I tried symlinking to the 10.6 SDK but that didn't work.
(Perhaps it would be OK to get the SDK from an older Mac that is actually running 10.5 and has an older version of Xcode installed? Would that work?)
The 10.5 sdk is not available for XCode 4.0. You will need to keep XCode 3.2.6 if you need it.
There is a solution to install the Mac OS X SDK 10.5 on Snow Leopard shown here:
How to add base SDK for 10.5 in xCode 4
Basically, you can run the MacOSX10.5.pkg from an Xcode 3 installer and install the SDK into an Xcode 4 install.
