I have a file called macse.cmd which contains 1000 commands to execute, 1 command per line.
I want to use parallel to execute 30 at a time. I don't care in what order they are executed as long as all are.
I tried "parallel -j 30 ./macse.cmd" but this caused them to run 1 by 1 and I am not even sure how to stop them.

So it's only the M715_ number that changes between commands.
Is the command always the same? As in

?
Then you should change it to:
"A"
"B"
"C"
and run: parallel -j 30 -a macse.cmd echo where of course echo is your actuall command.

I am beginning in scripting and I am trying to write a script in bash. I need a script to write a sequence of several file names that are numbered from 1 to 50 inside one file. These are trajectory files from MD simulations. My idea was to write something like:

You need to read a bit more about bash brace expansion. You can do this:
{
echo "#!/bin/bash"

The underlined part is where the brace expansion will get expanded by the shell into
-dec traj-1.dcd -dec traj-2.dcd ... -dec traj-50.dcd
You don't need to explicitly end your script with exit -- the shell will exit by itself when it runs out of commands.

The script is working fine and shows no error, if I directly execute it in PowerShell like this:

I am executing this script in PowerShell 2.0 and tried various debugging methods to solve this for the past week with no success.
Here are some entries from my NSClient++ conf. file NSC.ini for other PS scripts which are working fine without any issue.

Even the reported errant script(ExServiceAlert10.ps1) is working fine in my test system with that extra dash in command prompt but not working at all in any of the the Prod. system. All the PS versions are 2.0.
I think either I have to enable/disable some PS environment settings on those errant Prod. systems, or to escape something inside the script (suspecting newline characters- `n backtick n) . I don’t understand why it is reporting Line:1 and char:2, which is nothing but a comment line in the script.
I have seen this particular error reported by few others and their issue was resolved after upgrading their PS to Ver 2.0. Mine is already 2.0 and don’t know what to do next.

At the end I am able to crack the issue and it was very difficult to find. Our administartor copied/pasted the command line for NSC.ini file from a MS-Word document (How To doc.) shared by me to them. In the original MS-Word doc the hypen (at the end of the line after the word command in the beow given command line) has automatically changed to a little bigger hypen during documentation, which also gone to the NSC.ini file and hence the error was coming for this particular command execution. After changing the hypen manually in the NSC.ini, it worked fine without any issues
I'm trying to stream data through an existing java app, and as a test just created a runnable jar to print to stdout:

After creating a the jar I can do this:

and myout1.txt gets filled with data. When I run this in hadoop using
hadoop jar /usr/lib/hadoop-0.20-mapreduce/contrib/streaming/hadoop-streaming-2.0.0-mr1-cdh4.0.1.jar -file 'myapp.jar' -numReduceTasks 0 -input "input.txt" -output "myout.txt" -mapper "java -jar myapp.jar"
The job succeeds, but the myout.txt/part-* files are all empty. Reading data from stdin doesn't help, and this works in Python and Perl, or using the java API with a map function. Is there something special about streaming through a jar or printing with System.out.println?
