I am encountering an INVALID DRIVE F:/ message when installing an installer that I created using VS2010 Setup Project.
Drive F is not existing. We just did file transfer from a usb flash drive (:F/) previously.
Solutions we did:
SOLUTION 1:Check the Windows Installer Service.
1. Click Start Orb, in the start search box, type Services.msc and press Enter.
2. Scroll down and find the Windows Installer. Double-click “Windows Installer” in the Services list.
3. On the General tab, make sure the service is started under “Service status”.
4. If the service is not already running, under Service status, click Start, and then click OK.
SOLUTION 2: Unregister and re-register the Windows Installer
1. Click Start Orb, in the start search box, type MSIEXEC /UNREGISTER, and then click OK .
2. Click Start Orb, in the start search box, type MSIEXEC /REGSERVER, and then click OK . After you run this command, the operation is complete.
3. Now, try your installation again.
This is a Windows Installer errormessage.
It seems you have a hardcoded value in your package.
Please create a logfile during installation and you can better find the solution in this.
You can create a logfile if you use the following scheme to call the installation:
msiexec /i "<pathtoname.msi>" /qb /l*v "<pathtologfile.log>"
The logfile gives you detailed informations about your installation and a returncode at the end. This can help to find the solution.
A quick hack might also be possible, start a CMD and type:
cd \
subst F: .
then try installing again.

Here are some steps that will help investigate this issue:
From an Administrator command prompt, navigate to the folder where the Memurai Developer installer is located (typically it's under %userprofile%\downloads). EG: cd /d %userprofile%\downloads
msiexec /i Memurai-Developer-2.0.0.msi /l*v "install.log".
Proceed through the installer steps as you did before, until you hit the error.
The install.log file should provide some clue as to why the installation failed. If the solution is not obvious, please email the log file to support#memurai.com. Please let us know how it goes, either way!
Note: After the install logs were investigated the installer was changed to make it more robust and not fail in this spot.
Once I access add or remove programs I was not able to locate my desired program to uninstall. After this, I decided to to try and use IObit uninstaller to try and find it, but that couldn't either. The program can still be found in my Program File directory and it acknowledges that I have it installed when I try to reinstall it. A system restore was no help either. Netbeans is the program.
The below is a custom installer / uninstaller approach for NetBeans - a package in a proprietary format (non-MSI). For normal uninstall of Windows Installer packages see this "reference answer" instead: Uninstalling an MSI file from the command line without using msiexec.
I see NetBeans in the Add / Remove applet just fine - just right-click and select "Uninstall".
I suppose the entry could be missing on your system. If this is the case you can try this:
Go to the NetBeans installation folder and double click Uninstall.exe.
On my system the installation path is: C:\Program Files\NetBeans 8.2.
You should get an uninstall dialog with a couple of options, set options as appropriate and click Uninstall.
I'll throw in the uninstall dialog so people can see the options - I suppose it could be helpful for someone at some point. I didn't run the actual uninstall, please update this answer with any extra steps necessary once you do run it:
I've done all the traditional fixes in every major threads related to this problem and I still get this error. I'm trying to run a .vbs to install a webdisk onto my computer. (Please note that I'm not a programmer so I'm hoping to receive help in Layman's terms.)
I've gone into registry and fixed the HKEY to list the .dll.
I've deleted all cleaners and adblockers and anti-virus programs.
I've created a new .reg that merged threads.
Please help. I'm going crazy up here at the lake.

Please follow the following steps:
Open command prompt as Administrator using Run As Administrator
Now type sfc /scannow and press enter.
Check the message that you get and take the corresponding action as mentioned here.
You can also try doing the following:
Run regsvr32 vbscript.dll and regsvr32 jscript.dll in command prompt as administrator.
Also run the Windows Cleanup Utility as Administrator.
This should fix your issue.
Sorry for the newbie-ish question, but for all my years, I've never dealt with windows installation except as a user and I'm not sure how to start this.
I have two 3rd party packages to install. One I know is msi based but the other I have not found out yet. It comes with a setup.exe and a wrapper.exe - which we use to install.
Both installation prompt the user for language and a number of various options.
I need to wrap or do something to make these unattended installations.
I may be able to get some property information and I've read Silent installation of a MSI package - is that how I go about doing this? There will be a boat load of properties.
Basically, how do I go about wrapping the setup.exe and building / providing some type of response file.

Try this procedure to test if the setup is an MSI:
In the folder where your setup.exe is located, hold down shift, and right click in an empty space. Click "Open new command window here".
Type in setup.exe /a and let the setup start. This should launch an "admin install" if the setup.exe is an MSI setup at all. If you see a way to specify a path, define one and press next. This should now extract all files from within the setup.exe exposing the MSI file.
Once you have the MSI file extracted, it can in most cases be installed via a standard msiexec.exe command line like this: msiexec.exe /i setup.msi

Just one final question: are you delivering these setups as a product, or are you trying to install to your work network or similar?
If those wrapper/setup programs don't have a silent mode then the whole process can't be silent. As far as the MSI files are concerned, the msiexec command line stuff is what you need, including specifying properties on the command line, such as TARGETDIR- if the default is wrong, and TRANSFORMS= assuming the language choice is a transform choice. If you turn on Windows Installer logging policy (or the wrappers let you create a verbose log) you'll see what command lines the wrappers use, so duplicate them except you'd add a /qn type of option to make them silent. If they require elevation to admin to install you'd have to launch them from an admin prompt because a silent install won't ask for elevation on UAC systems.
I am running win7 professional 64-bit. I have already installed java, and am trying to install ActiveMQ. The install worked perfectly on a Windows Server 2003 machine but now it is giving me issues on my win7 machine. I download ActiveMQ 5.3.2 extract the files and then try to run the installservice.bat file as administrator and it gives me the following error in command prompt: '"wrapper.exe"' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
I had the same issue when using Windows Explorer and right clicking on the InstallService.bat file and selecting "Run As Administrator".
However, this worked for me (without having to change my user control settings):
1) Open a command prompt (right clicking first with "run as administrator").
2) Then navigate to the folder where your batch file is and simply type InstallService.bat.
Ok I feel a little stupid answering my own question but here it goes. Turn off the user control settings in the control panel
I had the same issue with apache-activemq-5.6.0 and solved it this way:
Open cmd.exe as admin (click on Start, type in cmd, right click on the "cmd" program, and choose Run as administrator)
In the cmd.exe window, navigate to your apache-activemq-5.X.X root dir (which contains bin, conf, data, docs, ...)
From there, navigate to bin\win64
Your commmand prompt should show something like:
...\apache-activemq-5.6.0\bin\win64>
Still in the cmd.exe, run InstellService.bat
It does not work if you run something like win64\InstellService.bat while being in bin. You have to actually navigate to bin\win64 first.
The in case you are installing in win 64 bit 2012 Server too, run InstallService.bat under sys32.
Its little confusing but it works.
