Install Bitnami on RHEL - installation

I am trying to install MediaWiki using the Bitnami stack on a RHEL server via command line. The installer is asking me for:
"Please choose a folder that contains an installation of Bitnami."
I have tried finding how I install Bitnami itself onto my server, but just keep getting results on how to install stacks.
How do I install Bitnami so I can install a stack?

Bitnami developer here,
Bitnami Native Installers come in two formats: stand-alone Stacks and Modules. If you only want to install one BitNami-packaged application, then just download and install the Stack. It will contain everything you need to run the application.
If you want to run more than one application, you may want to download a base AMPStack for your platform or RubyStack, which will enable you to install several application Modules on top of it, for example Wordpress module, Redmine module and Mediawiki module. That way, all of the BitNami-packaged applications you want to run will share a single instance of Apache, MySQL, PHP, etc which will save space and improve performance.
You can also install these modules on top of a Virtual Appliance or AMI with LAMP Stack or RubyStack installed. These modules could be also installed from the command line.
In your case, you should install modules.
This warning is due to the installer can not see the properties.ini file that we include in all our stacks. A module need a previous stack installation were it will be placed.
I hope it helps

Windows 10 Magento 2.4 zip install on XAMPP has nowhere to agree to terms

I'm trying to get Magento 2.4 running using the production ready zip and I keep getting it to this point where I believe it's ready to start the setup process, but it's waiting for me to agree to the ToS. Unfortunately there's no agree button or instructions on if there's a file I need to edit. I just did a fresh install of XAMPP with PHP 7.4 and still have the same issue, and can't find a similar mention on google.
Is there supposed to be an agree button, do I need to edit a file?
Term & Agreement link leads here, still no agree button. Getting started link takes me to installation instructions for a Linux CLI
I saw I may still need to run the composer install command even on Windows, but I was under the impression the production ready zip already had the dependencies included. Where am I going wrong??
Update: I got composer running in windows terminal and it returns that there is nothing to install.
According to the official site docs, in a note at the top of the installation instructions for a CLI install of Magento 2.3:
"The Web Setup Wizard is being deprecated in Magento 2.3.6 and will be removed in Magento 2.4.0. After it is removed, you must use the command line to install or upgrade Magento."
So you cannot install Magento 2.4 without touching the command line.

Installing nginx as a ruby gem vs using apt-get

I'm new to running a Linux server and slowly getting up to speed with things.
I have already installed nginx via the apt-get function, although I'm following a tutorial which recommends installing it as a ruby gem instead.
Is there any difference in the functionality/limitations to installing it as a gem than by using apt-get? - I'm worried that it won't work for non-ruby applications if it is gem installed?

There aren't any limitations on the version of Nginx that Passenger installs for you. You should be able to use it with other languages as you normally would (providing you know how to configure Nginx.) I was able to use it to connect to both Ruby and Node.js sites with no problems.
The people at Phusion have a nice page explaining why they are forced to provide their own version of Nginx (rather than using the standalone one) and it comes down to the fact that Nginx does not allow to be extended at runtime. Extensions like Passenger must be compiled into it. See this page for more information on it: https://github.com/phusion/passenger/wiki/Why-can%27t-Phusion-Passenger-extend-my-existing-Nginx%3F
(Note: When I tested this I used the installation instructions from the Phusion web site https://www.phusionpassenger.com/documentation/Users%20guide%20Nginx.html#install_on_debian_ubuntu , rather than the gem that is indicated in your tutorial, but I suspect they are both equivalent.)
I have run into this too. Where I am recommended to use one package manager over the other. I would question the age of the tutorial first, if it is not relatively recent you may want to consider if the information is no longer up to date. The libraries installed with that method may not be up to date.
However, if you intend to follow through with the tutorial you may end up needing it installed as the tutorial describes.
The difference is that one may not have all the libraries that are required or may not have the most up to date version. One tool could be buggy, I don't think this is the case in your situation but it is in Macports v.s Homebrew in my opinion. It might install to a different directory based on what install method you use, if you use a method off the web and then go back to the tutorial it could be installed to a different location then your tutorial expects.
If you have to follow the tutorial then I would all the way through, but if you don't need to use the preferred method that the program/library maintainers recommend. If the tutorial is out of date you could try to find an up to date tutorial.
good luck!

Ruby Non-gem dependencies

A gem I want to use called paperclip requires imagemagick to be installed. How can I get rails to manage these non-gem dependencies (for team/version controlled projects where you can't just ask everyone to install the dependencies for your feature).
I have been searching for an answer and cannot find an adequate one.
You just can't. Paperclip execute command (like when you open your terminal), it doesn't use an API or a library for imagemagick.
So you can't manage your system with Rails, for that you have specific admin tools.
Or you can create a simple script for install this software but it's not very expendable.

How to tell which modules are installed in phpBB3

I am used to Drupal, and it is fairly clear with Drupal which modules are on a server. I am new to phpBB and looking to learn just enough to migrate an install to Drupal. I can see that phpBB has 'modules' but I can't see how to tell which modules are are Installed or enabled.
From what I can see, installing modules in phpbb3 is a lot of hacking flies in the install, is this true? Is there a way to tell what is installed. even if I have to run some grep over the code?
Installing modules is 'complicated' in PHPBB3. However, anything in the MOD Database can be installed (or uninstalled) using AutoMOD. This should make your life easier if you are looking for mods in the MOD Database. The 'complicated' part of the install is any Do-It-Yourself instructions. You have to execute these by hand. This is the 'hacking files' that you mentioned. It seems to be fairly common in the 3.0.x versions of PHPBB. 3.1 is supposed to reduce this, but PHPBB development is slow. 3.1 entered feature freeze in July of 2010
A basic tutorial to install a mod using AutoMOD is available.
AutoMOD also allows you to see which modules have been installed (using AutoMOD). If you manually installed something by hacking through the install script yourself, it won't appear on this list.

RPM+Yum: install two packages with the same name and different versions simultaneously

For moderators: this question is about development of RPM based installer.
I'm developing packaging system for our software. We've designed our update management so that when we want to move to the new major version, we change RPM package to install all files into another directory (with another suffix) and change the package version. We keep the same name for the package (like: a-package-1.0.0 --> a-package-2.0.0). We want to install the new package keeping the old one to make user able to continue work with the old version while he moving to the new one.
So there is no file conflicts between our packages and RPM utility install them simultaneously without any issues (rpm -ivh ...). But Yum thinks that the new version is an update for the old one.
Is there a way to produce such RPM packages to make 'yum install a-package-1.0.0 a-package-2.0.0' installing them both? Maybe some flag in the package have to be set? I've found nothing.
Seems there is no way to install two RPM packages with the same name and without file conflicts usnig Yum.
So in my case I need to use some version suffix included into the package name.
I called RH and their preliminary answer is that there is no way to do this in YUM/RPM as this might cause confusion. After some discussion among their engineers, there does appear to be a way to do this, but they said it is cumbersome. I've asked them to send me their documentation (if any). I'm afraid you will need to call their customer service line and make the same request.
Here is the response from RH.
Thank you so much for your time on the phone today. You called asking if there was a way of installing different versions of tools like maven or java using yum to install them. After the engineers discussed it they have provided a document that shows you how to do this. I must say, if you do not have a log in to the customer portal, you will not be able to view the whole document.
