I have created many Procedures to extract the data from remote database and stored it in my local database tables. The procedures run successfully when i run it individually. But now i want to create dynamic procedure which will call based on conditions. I have created small procedure for the same but getting an error when i run this procedure as :
ORA-06512:
01403. 00000 - "no data found"
I am calling the procedure as EXT_EXTRACTION(1000161);
I think the problem is i am not calling the Procedure in CASE WHEN properly and don't know how to call it correctly.
Here is my procedure;
PROCEDURE "EXT_EXTRACTION"(
IN_KPI_DEF_ID IN NUMBER DEFAULT 0
) AS
ENTITY_CLASS_NAME Number := 0;
IN_EVENT_ID NUMBER;
BEGIN
Select EVENT_ID
INTO IN_EVENT_ID
from RATOR_MONITORING_CONFIGURATION.KPI_DEFINITION
WHERE KPI_DEF_ID = IN_KPI_DEF_ID;
CASE
WHEN IN_EVENT_ID = 10049
THEN EXT_10049_ACTIVATE_OPTION;
END CASE;
COMMIT;
END EXT_EXTRACTION;
Try to surround select in your procedure with exception when no_data_found and look at result. May be this proc work from another user,which have no priveleges to select, or selected object is a view? May be you should create procedure like authid current_user?

I am trying to call procedure in oracle apex but I am facing problem in displaying the output of procedure while passing the parameter as emp_id to that procedure from oracle apex. Can anyone help me?
procedure that I have written in SQL developer tool.
create or replace PROCEDURE TEST_PROC(EMP_ID1 IN Number)
As
RESULT TIMESHEET_EMPLOYEES%ROWTYPE;
BEGIN
SELECT * INTO RESULT.EMP_ID,RESULT.NAME,RESULT.LOCATION,RESULT.CITY,RESULT.COUNTRY,RESULT.EMPLOYMENT_TYPE,RESULT.EMAIL_ID,RESULT.PHONE_NUMBER,RESULT.CREATED_BY,RESULT.CREATED_ON,RESULT.UPDATED_ON,
RESULT.UPDATED_BY,RESULT.DATE_OF_JOINING,RESULT.ROLE_ID,RESULT.SUPERVISOR_ID FROM TIMESHEET_EMPLOYEES
WHERE EMP_ID=EMP_ID1;
DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('EMP_ID:'||RESULT.EMP_ID||' '||'NAME:'||RESULT.NAME||' '||'LOCATION:'||RESULT.LOCATION||' '||'CITY:'||RESULT.CITY ||' '||'COUNTRY:'||RESULT.COUNTRY||' '||'EMPLOYMENT_TYPE:'||

EXCEPTION
WHEN OTHERS THEN
DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('SQLCODE'||' '||SQLCODE);
DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('SQLERRM'||' '||SQLERRM);
END;
herein oracle apex in PLSQL code I am trying to call that procedure but I am not able to see any output.
BEGIN
TEST_PROC(:P1_EMPID);
END;
Can someone help me as I am new to APEX???
Apex can't display result of DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE.
Two simple options you might use:
add another, OUT parameter(s) to your current procedure, or
convert this procedure to a function which returns the result as a concatenated string
Both of them should return the result into an item on the page.
For example, if it were a procedure:
create or replace PROCEDURE TEST_PROC(EMP_ID1 IN Number,
par_result out varchar2
)
is
-- ... your current code goes here; I presume it does what you wanted
-- at the end, return the result as
par_result := 'EMP_ID:'||RESULT.EMP_ID||' '||'NAME:'||RESULT.NAME || ...
end;
Call it in a process as
TEST_PROC(:P1_EMPID, :P1_RESULT);
As of code you wrote: if you declared result as %rowtype, it is simpler to insert directly into it, not into every separate piece of it. For example:
select *
into result --> this
from timesheet_employees
where emp_id = emp_id1;
I am new to oracle.I already have a table tempash.
So,I created a procedure to see the data of this table.
So,I created procedure as:
create or replace procedure offc.temp_sel(data1 varchar2) is
var1 varchar2(4000);
BEGIN
var1:='select * from offc.temp'||data1;
EXECUTE IMMEDIATE var1;
end;
So,I executed the statement but,it is not showing me anything.
exec offc.temp_sel('ash');
There is no any compilation error in my procedure.But why the select statement is not showing me data of that procedure?
Try adding out parameter:
create or replace procedure offc.temp_sel(data1 varchar2,result out sys_refcursor)
is
BEGIN
open result for 'select * from offc.temp'||data1;
end;
SQL> var rc refcursor
SQL> execute offc.temp_sel('ash',:rc)
PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
SQL> print rc
You need to keep the result of the SELECT statement into a variable. As you perform SELECT * ..., you should put the result into a RECORD type but, as the result set contains more than 1 row, your variable needs to be a table of records.
In order to not be prone to error, the tables of records needs to be exactly like your table source structure.
CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE OFFC.TEMP_SEL(DATA1 VARCHAR2) IS
VAR1 VARCHAR2(4000);
TYPE T_RESULT IS TABLE OF offc.temp%ROWTYPE;
-- defined the new type based on the structure of table TEMP from schema OFFC
v_result t_result;
-- define a variable of that type.
BEGIN
var1:='select * from offc.temp'||data1;
EXECUTE IMMEDIATE VAR1 BULK COLLECT INTO V_RESULT;
-- collect he result into the new variable
FOR I IN 1 ..v_result.count
LOOP
dbms_output.put_line(v_result(i).<<column_name from temp offc.table>>);
end loop;
-- loop through the variable(table of records) and display its content.
-- you need to replace the << ... >> with the name of your column from source tabel that you want to display.
end;
To execute the procedure, you should use:
set serveroutput on;
execute temp_sel( 'ash');

I want to create a simple Oracle Stored procedure on SQL Developer that will return some records on a simple select query. I do not want to pass in any parameter, but I just want the Records to be returned back from the procedure into a result set -> a suitable variable.
I have been trying to use the following syntax :
create or replace PROCEDURE Getmarketdetails2(data OUT varchar2)
IS
BEGIN
SELECT *
into data
from dual;
END Getmarketdetails2;
But it gives me an error while I try to execute with the following exec statement -->
Declare a Varchar2;
exec Getmarketdetails2(a);
Error: PLS-00103: Encountered the symbol "end-of-file" when expecting "something else".
Cause: Usually a PL/SQL compilation error.
Appreciate if anyone can help me out of this long pending situation! I have tried enough to find a basic guide to create a simple Oracle stored procedure and execute it in SQL Developer, but none of them answer to the point!!
You want:
DECLARE
a VARCHAR2(4000); -- Give it a size
BEGIN -- Begin the anonymous PL/SQL block
Getmarketdetails2(a); -- Call the procedure
DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE( a ); -- Output the value
END; -- End the anonymous PL/SQL block
/ -- End the PL/SQL statement
or:
VARIABLE a VARCHAR2(4000); -- Create a bind variable
EXEC Getmarketdetails2(:a); -- Execute the procedure using the bind variable
PRINT a -- Print the bind variable
Assuming an up-to-date Oracle version, you can use dbms_sql.return_result()
create or replace PROCEDURE Getmarketdetails2
IS
c1 SYS_REFCURSOR;
BEGIN
OPEN c1 FOR
SELECT *
from dual;
DBMS_SQL.RETURN_RESULT(c1);
END Getmarketdetails2;
/
Then simply run
exec Getmarketdetails2
The only drawback is that SQL Developer only displays the result as text, not as a proper result grid.
This is how I return a cursor in Oracle
PROCEDURE GetAllData (P_CURSOR OUT SYS_REFCURSOR)
IS
BEGIN
OPEN P_CURSOR FOR
SELECT *
FROM TABLE ;
END GetAllData ;
Declare a Varchar2;
exec Getmarketdetails2(a);
Your procedure is ok;
Instead of above query, use below query to run sp:
Declare
a Varchar2(10);
Begin
Getmarketdetails2(a);
End;
I am trying to write a stored procedure that selects indiv_ids and transaction_ids and inserts these into a table on my schema. In doing so, I want to pass in variables and have the stored procedure use if statements to select the indiv_ids and transaction_ids from different tables depending on the information passed in. I've tried a few variations and can't get the procedure to work without an error. Thanks!
create or replace procedure myproc (name_type in varchar2, dept in number)
is begin
if name_type='promo' then insert into mytable(indiv_id,transaction_id)
---sql here;
commit;
elsif name_type='deal' then insert into mytable(indiv_id, transaction_id)
---sql here;
commit;
end if;
end;
errors: Error(8,10): PL/SQL: SQL Statement ignored,
Error(16,31): PL/SQL: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
Note that name_type variable is declared as NUMBER, but in the procedure body it is compared with strings:
if name_type='promo' then
This is not the cause of ORA-00942 error, but anyway it makes your procedure not working correctly.
I have one requirement in which I have to design two procedure.First procedure will generate one output variable value and then second procedure will use to do its task. I am giving same kind of scenario in below code
create procedure existingProc(
begin
insert statementprogramming statement
);
create procedure MyProc(
begin
call existingProc();
-- Exsisting procedure return some value
-- and this value is used in MyProc
commit;
);
In the above code existingProc is already there in the system and I can not change it. IN the procedure transaction is begin but not committed. This procedure generate one value as Output param and MyProc will used this value.
I want that after executing the existingProc, MyProc procedure should get the value, but it is not happening and it is giving null.
what should i do here, Please help me. I can not share the code that why giving scenario.
Does this help clarify how to use the output parameters from one procedure in another procedure?
create procedure ExistingProc(output1 out number) is
begin
insert into someTable values ('some values')
RETURNING someCol INTO output1;
end;
create procedure MyProc(args ....) is
Result1 number; --output from existingProc
begin
ExistingProc(result1);
-- Use Result1 as needed
Update stuff ...
where id = Resutl1;
commit;
end;
