I created a Maven project in OpenShift. I want to access file in data/uploads folder for this.
I created deploy in .openshift\action_hooks
ln -s ${OPENSHIFT_DATA_DIR}uploads ${OPENSHIFT_REPO_DIR}src/main/webapp
But it won't create symlink, and even if I create a symlink directly it still can't access with url. Any suggestions please?
My fault on the original answer. The uploads directory has to exist before you create the symlink to it:
if [ ! -d ${OPENSHIFT_DATA_DIR}uploads ]; then
mkdir ${OPENSHIFT_DATA_DIR}uploads
fi
ln -s ${OPENSHIFT_DATA_DIR}uploads ${OPENSHIFT_REPO_DIR}src/main/webapp

I'm trying to setup my environment to learn azure from the Microsoft learning page https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/learn/modules/microservices-data-aspnet-core/environment-setup
but when i run . <(sudo wget -q -O - https://aka.ms/microservices-data-aspnet-core-setup) to pull the repo and run the services, i get the error below
~/clouddrive/aspnet-learn/modules/microservices-data-aspnet-core/setup ~/clouddrive/aspnet-learn
~/clouddrive/aspnet-learn
bash: /home/username/clouddrive/aspnet-learn/src/deploy/k8s/quickstart.sh: Permission denied
bash: /home/username/clouddrive/aspnet-learn/src/deploy/k8s/create-acr.sh: Permission denied
cat: /home/username/clouddrive/aspnet-learn/deployment-urls.txt: No such file or directory
this used to work until it stopped working and I'm not sure what caused it to break or how to fix it.
I've tried deleting the 'Storage account' and the resources, but doesn't seem to work. also, when i delete the storage account and create a new one then try again, it seems to have the old data stored and i need to run a remove, so somehow this data isnt really being deleted when i delete the 'Storage account'
Before running this script, please remove or rename the existing /home/username/clouddrive/aspnet-learn/ directory as follows:
Remove: rm -r /home/username/clouddrive/aspnet-learn/
any idea what is wrong here, or how i can actually reset this to work like a new storage?
Note: I saw some solutions which say to start with sudo, for elevated permission, but didnt manage to get this to work
I have done the repro by following the given document
Able to deploy a modified version of the eShopOnContainers reference app
Again I executed the same command ,
. <(wget -q -O - https://aka.ms/microservices-data-aspnet-core-setup)
got the same error which you have got
If we try to run the deploy script without cleaning the already created resource/app,will get the above error.
If you want to re-run the setup script, run the below command first to clean the resource
cd ~ && \
rm -rf ~/clouddrive/aspnet-learn && \
az group delete --name eshop-learn-rg --yes
OR
Remove: rm -r /home/username/clouddrive/aspnet-learn/
Rename: mv /home/username/clouddrive/aspnet-learn/ ~/clouddrive/new-name-here/
The above command removes or renames the existing /home/username/clouddrive/aspnet-learn/ directory
Now you can run the script again
This is the very first time for me to start deploying website using Linode. So now I am following a tutorial and after creating a user in server I am trying to create a folder using mkdir -p ~ /.ssh but I keep receiving mkdir: cannot create directory ‘/.ssh’: Permission denied
I am using Linode Ubintu and using Putty. So my question is why am I receiving this error and how do I fix it?
You have an extra space in your command:
mkdir -p ~ /.ssh
^ here
That space splits the path you wanted (~/.ssh) to the new 2 paths: ~ and /.ssh. Note that the second one is in the root (/) directory, which requires additional access rights to write in. But you most probably wanted to create .ssh in your home directory (to which the ~ leads), so proper command would be:
mkdir -p ~/.ssh
I launch an centos AMI I created, and try to add user data as a file which looks like this:
#!/bin/bash
mkdir /home/centos/testing
cd testing
wget https://validlink
So simply, on launch, the user data creates a folder called testing and downloads this validURL which I will not put as it links to my data - however it is valid and accessible.
When I launch the instance, the folder testing is created successfully, however there is no file inside the directory.
When I ssh into the instance, and run the wget command as a sudo, the file is downloaded successfully inside the testing folder.
Why does the file not get downloaded on the ec2 launch through user data?
You have no way of knowing the current working directory when you execute the cd command. So specify full path:
cd /home/centos/testing
Try this:
#!/bin/bash
mkdir /home/centos/testing
cd /home/centos/testing
wget https://validlink
Run it using the root user.
Try this instead:
#!/bin/bash
sudo su
yum -y install wget
mkdir /home/centos/testing
cd /home/centos/testing
wget https://validlink
I need to install 2 audio plugins to the root Audio/Plug-Ins/VST & Components directories. My installer does that fine. But I also need to install a directory of preset files into /Users/$USER/Library/Application Support/MyCompany folder.
I've heard that an installer can't install to / and ~ in the same installer, but I really want it to be 1 install for the user. So it seems like a good idea would be to install the VST and Components first. Then install the preset folder in a temporary location (like /tmp or similar) and then run a post-install script to move the files to the user's Library...but I can't get that to work.
This is the script I'm trying to run:
#!/bin/bash
# movePresets.sh
# I want something like this...but it doesn't work because $USER is root in the installer I believe
/usr/bin/sudo -u $USER mkdir -p "/Users/$USER/Library/Application Support/MyCompany/Presets"
/usr/bin/sudo -u $USER mv -r "/tmp/Presets" "$USER/$USER/Library/Application Support/MyCompany"
exit 0
Obviously, I don't know the proper way to access a user's directory as root. Help please...thank you.
Have you tried saving off the user in a variable first?
#!/bin/bash
realuser=$USER
# or
#realuser=$(whoami)
/usr/bin/sudo -u $realuser mkdir -p "/Users/$realuser/Library/Application Support/MyCompany/Presets"
/usr/bin/sudo -u $realuser mv -r "/tmp/Presets" "$realuser/$realuser/Library/Application Support/MyCompany"
I am trying to create a script which would create symlinks from a folder 1 level up and i am using as follows:
symlinks.sh
ln -s '../config/environments' > 'environments'
ln -s '../config/init' > 'init'
environments is a folder and init is a file.
and when i go to the folder where symlinks.sh is and execute ./symlinks.sh, its creating 4 files which are:
environments
environments?
init
init?
I also tried:
ln -s '../config/environments' .
ln -s '../config/init' .
but with this one, init is created in the current folder and environments goes to folder ../config/environments/environments
Can someone help me please?
It's because you are redirecting the output ">". You don't need to do that with ln, it will automatically create a symlink in the current directory if you use:
ln -s "../config/environments"
ln -s "../config/init"
