I need to completely reinstall Xcode 6 and remove all the files and settings with it.
I know that it is uninstalled so that you go to mission control, long click on it and then click on the X button, like on iPhone.
I also know that you can drag it to trash from applications.
But after all those, when I install it again through AppStore and open the last project I was working on, Xcode will open the project on exactly the same class where i t was shut down and even show the last error I faced!
I don't want that. That means that some User Preferences are still saved somewhere and I want to get rid of them as I have never ever had Xcode installed on my Mac.
How to do that?
You can use several uninstall programs like you would uninstall any other Mac application.
So some examples might be App Cleaner or Clean My Mac.
Hope that helps :)

I bought an M1 Mac Mini recently and tried to use XCode on it, but it does not open at all.
I tried re-install it and delete ~/Library/Developer directory, it seems nothing works.
This is my first Mac device and if I give more detail about what I mean by 'does not open at all' - it does nothing even if I double click the XCode from Applications directory or the bar at the bottom that has other installed applications showing on it(sorry, I don't know how this is called).
I can see the little grey dot under the icon which means it is running somehow, but nothing comes up on the screen. Then the grey dot goes away after few minutes with nothing happening.
How do I resolve this problem?
Making sure that the application itself is in the right place would be my first approach. Did you download Xcode from the App Store?
Here’s a link to someone with the same issue asking on the Apple developers forum
https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/101265
Go to applications folder, right click, "get info" and then “Open using Rosetta”. Check the box.
I can't launch my app anymore on Android. The iOS counterpart seems to be fine.
The full error is:
ADB0000: Could not determin the installation path for package.com.company.appname.
'adb shell pm path com.company.appname' returned.
It was working. I pulled some changes from the repo, none of which should have affected any app properties. Actually it was initially launching, but I was getting some odd behavior within the app, so I uninstalled the whole thing off of my phone. Now I cannot launch it at all. What I could find about this error was that my AndroidManifest.xml might have a typo, but I couldn't find anything that stuck out. And like I said, there shouldn't have been any changes in there recently. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Steps I have already taken:
1. Clean and rebuild
2. restart VS
3. delete obj and bin folders
4. search for solution on here and xamarin forums
UPDATE:
I just successfully launched it on another android device. So it seems to be a problem with my Pixel 2 XL. How do I make sure all traces of the app are gone so I can start fresh?
This usually happens when you have more than one user in an Android device (I still cannot figure out why is this).
As mentioned in the comment by using the adb uninstall full.package.name command it will uninstall the app.
But there's another way which does not require command line or nothing related to that.
If you go to the Settings -> Apps and Notifications on the Android device you will be able to uninstall it from there.
Let's use the UnoQuickStart.Droid app as example here. As you can see it's already in the same state as it was yours.
Once in the App details both Uninstall and Force Stop are disabled. But do you see those 3 dots image at the right upper corner? Click on it.
This will bring you a context menu with a single option "Uninstall for all users". You can click on it with confidence.
As expected, a warning message telling you what's gonna happen. Just click "Ok".
As you can see the App is not longer installed and you will now be able to install it again.
Hope this helps.-
As per apineda's instructions, using adb unistall com.company.appname fixed the problem. I was able to get to the ADB location by navigating through Visual Studio -> Tools -> Android -> Android ADB Command Prompt.
Before I did that, I looked at the App list for my phone, which listed the app, but apparently not installed for this user. The Uninstall and Force Stop buttons were disabled and several of the fields just said loading... or something like that.
I have a macbook air and I went to the store to install Xcode 7.3 and hit the update App button, and a loading icon appeared but after waiting 30 min time nothing happened. I successfully installed simple recorder from the store but I can't install Xcode.
What can i do?
What are the options to download it?
Try restarting your computer to see if Xcode has installed. This will also refresh the app store, so try downloading it again.
If all else fails:
You should uninstall all current versions of Xcode on your Mac. Do this by dragging each application to the Trash can. Delete your trash.
After, try downloading Xcode again and everything should go through.
You aren't aloud to download old versions of Xcode from the App Store.
I suggest you to download the new XCode 8. It works just fine, even if your update button doesn't seem to work. Need to use the App Store. Also, if you happen to be a React Native developer, you may want to follow this article just after having installed this new XCode version.
If you simply cannot install the latest version, I suggest going to www.developer.apple.com and click the Develop Tab, Xcode, Download, sign in with your apple id, and get an Xcode beta version.
www.developer.apple.com -> Login -> Account -> Downloads
If only spinner is showing, without progress. Open Activity monitor and check if installd is running and using a lot of memory. Try killing that process and update again.
Since I installed the Xcode 5 from the App Store I can't start Xcode.
I click on the Xcode icon, then icon bounce 1 time then nothing.
The program doesn't respond...
I tried to uninstall and reinstall Xcode but I got the same problem.
I think the best way is to completely uninstall XCode and its accompanying utilities.
You can follow this link for that.
I am plagued by this problem. Ever since I updated to XCode 5 I have had nothing but trouble. When I open it it does nothing but it does say Application Not Responding when you right-click the icon in the tray.
Once I walked away and hours later when I came back it was open. So I tried it again and waited. around 30 minutes later, it opened. I've figured out that if you wait long enough, eventually it opens.
I know this is only a temporary, partial solution, but it may be all you have until the release Mavericks. I have read in searching for a solution that XCode 5 works in 10.9 but developers struggle using it on 10.8.5 <----- specifically 5!
I just installed the 10.8.5 supplemental 1.0 update and it didn't change anything for me.
Try to open the program and see if letting it sit for a while maybe even overnight, and see if it opens like mine. If so, maybe someone can help with that extra information.
Well i have the exact same problem that you are facing. This is how you can solve it:
First of all just uninstall the current version of Xcode from your Mac completely. You can delete it from the Applications. After that you will still see the Xcode icon in the LaunchPad and i don't know why. You have to delete it from the LaunchPad too. Just by clicking and holding until the cross button appears and then press the cross button to delete.
Once this is done, don't download it from the App Store. Instead download from a direct link. Go to this LINK and find the Xcode and download the DMG file. Then you can install it and you will have no problem.
You can either waste your time troubleshooting the problem or you can just do what i told you to save some time. The choice is yours!
Hope this helps!
I have MAC OS 10.7.3. xcode 4.3.1 installed using different apple id as my macbook pro was used previously by my friend. Now when i try to upgrade Xcode to 4.3.2 it asking credentials for my friends account. Unfortunately App store clearly says you can upgrade an app using the account which was used to install the app.
How can i upgrade Xcode using my credentials?
Thanks in advance.
I am sure you would have solved this by now but just posting the solution here that worked for me..
Open Finder and navigate to Applications,
Ctrl+Click the application and choose "Show Package Contents" (Xcode in this case),
Expand the Contents directory and click the _MASReceipt directory to select it, Type Command+Delete to
delete the directory permanently---you will be prompted for your
credentials since this is a protected file.
Quit and restart
AppStore, then find the application. You can update with your new id now without deleting the old version of the app
Hope this helps someone coz it took me a while to figure out !!
Unfortunately had to answer my own question,
Simple Answer: NO, You cannot update xcode installed from another account.
Solution is to delete the existing installation and re-installing from new account.
To delete the existing installation, you need to delete it from Launch pad. You can do this by locating xcode icon in launch pad, long click on the icon till it starts dancing. Then delete it and wait for a while till the xcode.app is deleted from /Application. If you manually delete xcode.app from /Application, App store will continue to think its installed and will not allow you to reinstall in future.
Above solution is assuming you have installed xcode from the mac app store, usually versions later than 4.2. For earlier versions, just deleting /Application/xcode folder should work.
The solution is found:
I had this bug, it's related to Spotlight. The App Store used Spotlight in some way. My fix was to add the entire HD to the "Privacy" tab in the Spotlight System prefs pane, close the prefs and wait 30 seconds, re-open and remove your HD from the Privacy tab. Spolight begins reindexing. Re-opened the App Store and problem was fixed! Posting this here for others who might search later on. Also filed a bug report with Apple.
