"open" command doesn't work properly inside tmux - macos

I am trying to use the open command to open a link in Chrome from my terminal.
It works fine in plain Terminal.app or iTerm2, but doesn't work properly from tmux. What happens is: it opens a new instance of Chrome (rather than opening a new tab) and doesn't actually go to the URL.
Is there any fix for this? The reason I need this functionality is for running Mutt with urlview to open the links from emails.
Thanks.

This sounds like a problem that could be solved by installing reattach-to-user-namespace.
If you don't wanna get deep into manually solving this problem you can use one of the tmux plugins:
tmux-urlview looks like exactly what you're looking for
another solution is to use tmux-copycat + tmux-open

Enable remote debugging on Chrome by default on mac?

I am working on getting the VS Code debugger to attach to Chrome as part of my regular workflow.
I keep Chrome running all the time, and the highly-regarded VS Code Live Server extension opens my project in a new tab, which I like. I would like to be able to attach the VS Code debugger to this instance, but it looks like I have to start Chrome from the command line with
sudo /Applications/Google\ Chrome.app/Contents/MacOS/Google\ Chrome --remote-debugging-port=9222
Several questions:
Is there a way to modify Chrome's configuration file so that it always starts with that flag set?
Is that a stupid thing to do?
Do I really need the sudo in the line above? Some sources do not have it.
Alternatively, is there a way to create a desktop/toolbar shortcut to chrome that will start it will remote debugging enabled?
Thanks!
PS I see the related SO question for Windows.
There are various Mac answers that used to work that don't anymore. I found one that does and built a double-clickable icon. I posted it on GitHub.
Apparently it's also pretty easy to do using Automator.

Why does Command + V behave like Page Up?

On OS X 10.10 (Yosemite), the keyboard shortcut to paste the clipboard Command ⌘+V behaves like Page Up.
Right now I'm able to reproduce this issue only in Mail and Evernote.
Pressing Super+v, Super+v does pageup, paste though.
I use Karabiner to remap some keys, but never Command ⌘ keys.
If I close Karabiner it doesn't change anything.
I have at some point used vim, the pbcopy terminal command, and some OS configuration from https://github.com/mathiasbynens/dotfiles/blob/master/.osx
But I don't see why this could be a problem.
Does anyone know how to fix this or why it happens?
Are you able to replicate this issue in multiple users on your machine? If so, then the issue is likely to have something to do with the modifications you outlined above (such as Karabiner or Vim), or some larger operating system related issue.
If you're not able to replicate the problem in multiple users, it could be related to a problematic preference file. If you open a Finder window and navigate to ~/Library/Preferences, you could try moving the com.apple.HIToolbox.plist to your Desktop, logging out, then logging back in and testing again.
Let us know if either of those suggestions help!

Opening sublime text 3 from a tmux session opens an empty file?

Whenever I try to open any file from the terminal using sublime, for example: subl ~/.zshrc, it works fine BUT when I try to do the same thing from inside of a tmux session I get an empty blank file.
I saw many people asking related questions and blaming sublime, but what I just figured out is that it's not sublimes fault! it's the relation between sublime and tmux. so how can I fix this? does it requires some sort of permission or what?
This is because Tmux does not have the root access to your system.
It opens Sublime for you but it doesn't show you the system files content.
You need to give it permission first.
I had the same issue. Dug around a bit and found this answer on SU. Installing the "Reattaching" Wrapper program to allow access to the Mac OS X pasteboard seems to solve the issue.

Vim under mac does not behave as expected

I recently got a mac. I was previously working on a laptop with ubuntu and I was using vim.
I now will discuss about vim in console (iTerm2 or the default terminal) and macvim.
The problem is that some binding don't work under mac. For example I had CTRL left/right for navigating between splits, CTRL up/down to move lines or blocks of code up and down, etc. They don't work anymore.
I had a bunch of plugins (nerdtree, powerline, etc.) that now look weird. Powerline doesn't display special characters in macvim and in terminal they are question marks.
In console, nerdtree looks weird and it doesn't display the special triangle character. If I hit return to open a file selected from nerdtree, it doesn't do anything. In macvim, it works ok.
Is there any guide on how to use vim on mac? Or what is the recommended way?
Nerdtree : let g:NERDTreeDirArrows=0
Powerline : Take a look at the part of strange characters in the document https://github.com/Lokaltog/vim-powerline
Navigating within splits with Ctrl + arrows work on mine. Can you post your vimrc, or try running vim without any configuration.
Ctrl+arrows to move lines and block doesn't work on mine.
Did you check which key was sent by your terminal to vim ?
Did you tried to set it manually ?
I had similar problems with emacs, including one keybinding I'm still not able to reproduce :(
I have the exact same config on my Mac and a Windows box at work, my Ubuntu box at home and a couple of VPSes. It works exactly the same on every platform in GVim/MacVim or in plain Vim.
Unfortunately I don't use either NERDTree nor Powerline but Vdt's answer seems to have all the info needed.
Some of the behaviors you describe are custom mappings. You should show us your ~/.vimrc (the old one on linux and the new one on the Mac, if there are differences) so that we can help you make it more portable.
Also, "looks weird" means nothing: please add a screenshot or two.

XCode-like auto completion in vim (without tab)?

Greetings. I've been using vim for years, and I've recently started toying with XCode. One of the things I really like about XCode is that it will auto complete words without me hitting <TAB>.
For instance, in this image below I only need to type NSSObj and the rest is filled in automatically, no special keystroke required.
I'd like to reproduce this effect in vim.
To be clear, this question is not about how to get tab/omni-completion working in vim. I've already got tab/omni completion working just fine and that's not a problem. The question is: does anyone know how to get vim to autocomplete as I am typing ?
vimscripts has a plugin called autocomplpop.vim that does what you want.
Another option is a vim script called neocomplcache made by Shougo.
