I use Intellij IDEA Community Edition and I wanted to install the Ruby plugin, but it is only available for the full version of the IDEA, although distributed free license. How to install it in community edition version?
You answered your question already: you cannot use Ruby in IntelliJ IDEA Community Edition, the plugin won't work:
Supported only in Ultimate Edition: ... Ruby, JRuby ...

As stated in a comment, you can get IntelliJ IDEA Ultimate for free (non-commercial use only) as a student.

Beforehand: This is not a 'cut and clear' programming problem. It is a toolchain problem and I do not know other places to ask it. If this is not an apropriate place to ask, excusses and I will redraw my question.
I want to use NuGet on my VS2010-pro installation.
When I go to Tools -> Extention manager... tab [online galery] I get the option to download and install NuGet, but only for version 2.8.2 (2.8.60318.667) while the latest NuGet package is 3.5.0
I want to be 'up to date' so why settle for 2.8.3?
First I looked around for any reason why for VS2010 only 2.8.3 is available but could find no answers.
Then I installed 2.8.3 with the idea to look for updates/upgrades through NuGet and get to 3.5.0 but had no success. Can't find a way to upgrade!
I cannot find a good reason why I should settle for 2.8.3 and I cannot find a way to upgrade for the VS2010 tool version of NuGet.
But I can install the CLI version of 3.5.0 without any problems.
What is the reason that for VS2010 NuGet is limited to 2.8.0, is that the case anyway or do I mis something here?
If I install NuGet CLI 3.5.0 what problems will I get with VS2010 and the 2.8.3 version?
I looked around, read a lot about NuGet but can't find an answer to these questions.
Does anybody have an idea or who can point me to a location where I can find an answer?
Kind regards.
NuGet 2.8.3 is the latest version that supports VS2010. So you won't be able to use 3.5.0 from VS2010. Looks like 3.5.0 CLI is your best bet.
What is the best process of moving a 200+ MB DotNetNuke site from Professional to Community edition? I am asking the Stackoverflow community since DotNetNuke's standard line is "there is no supported option to switch from PE to CE", or to contact their customer support. However DNN support told a fellow team member tell us that it was not possible to go from Professional to Community, so that was a waste of time.
Based on research there are a couple possibilities for doing this:
Create a new Community Install and then module by module going through and moving it piecemeal. Here - http://www.dnnsoftware.com/forums/forumid/0/threadid/427840/scope/posts
Make backups of the Professional and then install the Community Edition over it, and then go through the web.config and verify that each piece is correct. Here - http://fl2rs.com/downgrading-dotnetnuke-from-professional-to-community-edition/
Which one has the most success of converting DotNetNuke Professional Edition to Community Edition? Also, if you know of a better method please share. Thank you for your time.
Edit
Looking back at this question the only real way to convert a complicated site is to basically rebuild it which I did successfully. And if you are trying to switch from an older version of Professional to a newer version of Community even more so. I would also like to note that going to Community was the correct decision since none of the extra functionality we even used, and their support was never helpful anyway.
I don't think there's a built-in downgrade feature from Professional to Community Edition. As it was noted here in this question, DNN professional and DNN Community Edition share the same codebase. In other words, DNN Pro is DNN CE with some extra built-in extensions such as document manager, impersonate user, different caching, etc. That means 99.9% of modules and skins will run fine in either edition.
Option 1: Seems tedious but would surely work.
Option 2: I would make a backup copy of the site on a development machine and try to do it there before attempting it on the production server. Please post the results for this if you try it.
Good luck.
Option 1 would work, but I'm not sure about Option 2.
I've heard that this is not supported by DNN, but if you open a support ticket, they can walk you through the process.
This is what I found in their support forum: http://www.dnnsoftware.com/answers/cid/414288
If you have troubles with this, I've found DNN on Social Media (G+ and their forums) are more responsive. Sometimes a little prodding is needed.
Late to the party on this one - another option might be to do a portal/site export and then import it into a CE version. It has its own problems with modules that do not support this but if you are HTML content heavy then you can do it.
Can we do clustering in Jahia community edition? without using any tools which come with enterprise version?
I don't believe it's easily possible to enable clustering in the community version of Jahia. Of course, since the source is GPL, nobody will prevent you for adding it if you want to do it but it's properly not going to be a easy task.
Why not buy the enterprise edition, it's not 'that' expensive if you are a company and help Jahia grow a better CMS?
You can't do cluster with community edition, and that's not a new thing for Jahia.
If you want to see the difference between community and entreprise distributions of Jahia, read "Distributions Comparison Table" on Jahia's developers "get started" page.
I can tell that clustering in community is not possible. and will not. I worked with jahia in enterprise. a little late, but for all which will search for that.
Being an owner of IntelliJ Idea Ultimate edition, and having installed the IntelliJ Ruby plug-in, I'm forced to wonder how different that experience is from using the RubyMine IDE.
I'm guessing they share a lot of code & features. What are the major differences?
If I'm jumping into the world of Ruby, should I buy the RubyMine IDE or just continue using IntelliJ + Ruby plug-in?
The Ruby plugin and RubyMine are build from the same codebase, that's right.
Java/Ruby integration for JRuby code is only available in Ruby plugin for IntelliJ IDEA. But the plugin doesn't have RubyMotion support.
Also check this answer: If I have IDEA, do I need rubymine for ruby dev or will it do both?
I am an Adobe Flex developer and I am sick of Eclipse. Is there an alternative (free) IDE for Flex? I am aware of Tofino, but I can't get that to work on my MSVS Express editions, and I don't want to buy the whole thing. Help is greatly appreciated.
If you aren't concerned with a visual designer, there is also FlashDevelop.
The current version of IntelliJIDEA 8.1.x supports Flex which is pretty nice (along with debugger for Flex). However, there are some limitations with it but with the next version it has better Flex'ing support including AIR, FlexUNIT, etc...
I personally only used IDEA a couple of time for Flex projects, I prefer TextMate for Ruby and Flex and use FlexBuilder for debugging.
Tofino not work on VS Express Edition, but is an alternative to Eclipse Flex. You don't have much more.
There is Amesthst which is a flex development that runs in Visual Studio. I did not have the best luck in using it, or stuck with eclipse as that was the tool used by the rest of my group.

Amethyst runs in the free VS Shell Edition. We released a new beta this week with a visual designer:

Download here:

If you need the VS Shell download the All-in-One installer for our Ruby On Rails IDE. This includes VS Shell and you can install Amethyst into that:
