Terminal cannot find Bash - bash

I am a beginner coder, so bear with me. I was doing the lynda.com tutorials on Ruby on Rails and in the Terminal typed in nano .bash_profile and then export PATH="usr/local/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/mysql/bin:$PATH". Now everytime I log in I get the message :
-bash: export: `/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/mysql/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin': not a valid identifier
and I even when I tried to find it using which $SHELL it says that No such file or directory. What can I do to fix this?

PATH="usr/local/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/mysql/bin:$PATH"
should be
PATH="/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/mysql/bin:$PATH"

Terminal modified permanently by vscode

I installed vscode today and followed the steps on tutorials on youtube to set up. My terminal started to act weird after I called python through the terminal and tried to use pip install command but failed. I uninstalled the app, deleted all the relevant files, and tried to reopen the terminal. The terminal still has the same warnings.
I have contacted Apple Tech support and they say my terminal got modified by the app. They asked me to contact the app developer.
I don't know what I did to get where I am now. I would appreciate any help that can bring my terminal back to normal.
Below are the warnings even after I uninstalled the app:
Last login: Wed Jun 10 23:02:45 on ttys000
You have mail.
-bash: Saving: command not found
-bash: ...copying: command not found
-bash: ...saving: command not found
-bash: ...completed.: command not found
-bash: Deleting: command not found
The default interactive shell is now zsh.
To update your account to use zsh, please run `chsh -s /bin/zsh`.

Check your shell's startup script, it looks like you have text there that aren't shell commands. I don't know whether you have bash or zsh as your shell, but check all of these files just to be sure:
~/.bashrc
~/.bash_aliases
~/.bash_profile
~/.bash_login
~/.zshrc
~/.zshenv
~/.zprofile
~/.zlogin
~/.profile
Also look into any files that are sourced by these files.

How to fix the invalid identifier of bash?

When I open terminal, I get following error at the top.
bash: export: `/usr/local/sbin:/sbin:/usr/sbin:/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/bin/X11:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/root/bin': not a valid identifier
I am new to linux and I was trying to execute ls command but it was not working and giving some error so I followed this answer to fix it. Now I am able to list down the file using ls command but getting this error. I wonder it will have some serious affect somewhere else or not.
Turns out my path in ~/.bashrc was not correct. So this is what I did.
gedit ~/.bashrc
After the in the opened file I update the PATH to this at the end of the file.
PATH="/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/games"

How to fix the terminal "source" command on OSX Catalina

I try executing the below commands in my terminal.
$ source ~/.bash_profile or . ~/.bash_profile
and the system returns:
-bash: [[-s: command not found
I cannot think of anything extra information to provide.
I kept researching my issue and came across this stackoverflow post
I initially misunderstood the error message to mean the source command was not found. After reading the other post I tried running bash .bash_profile and the result was .bash_profile: line 11: [[-s: command not found. I had an error in my .bash_profile file. I commented out the line and tried running source .bash_profile and it worked.
The initial command not found did not relate to the source command, it related to the file I was running with source.
I hope this helps someone else.

unix commands not working

I wanted to start developing in ruby on rails, so I followed few tutorials how to set everything needed. However, I have problem now, because basic commands in terminal window dont work. For example if I type: whoami, ls, etc... error appears saying: -bash: whomami: command not found
when I type: $PATH, this appears: -bash: /Library/Ruby/Gems/2.0.0: is a directory
did I make a mistake while setting up rails environment or it's another problem? If you have similar experiences, please help me to solve this.
Thanks
Try the following command.
PATH=/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/local/games:/usr/games
Better you use this command in you .bashrc file.

RVM not being found (Mac 10.7.3)

I've done a lot of searching and there seem to be similar issues, but none that have helped me solve this problem. I'm fairly new to Ruby, Rails, and -ix systems so that doesn't help much, either. :(
I was able to get RVM up and running along with the latest versions (1.9.3-p125 of Ruby and 3.2 of Rails). However, when I exit terminal and come back in the system defaults are being used. When I tried to change versions I received a "command not found". I then tried just typing "rvm" and got:
-bash: rvm: command not found
I followed some other tutorial advice and modified my ~/.bashrc file to look like this:
PATH=$PATH:$HOME/.rvm/bin # Add RVM to PATH for scripting
echo '[[ -s "$HOME/.rvm/scripts/rvm" ]] && source "$HOME/.rvm/scripts/rvm"' >> ~/.bashrc
but I'm still getting the exact same "command not found" even after exiting Terminal.
Any thoughts on how to get RVM working properly? Everyone says use it, but it sure isn't simple...
Thanks a lot!
Greg
I followed some other tutorial advice and modified my ~/.bashrc file
Usually I modify .profile file on Mac OS X, and .bashrc on Linux. Try to modify .profile
Please check How to fix Terminal not loading ~/.bashrc on OS X Lion to know why Terminal doesn't load .bashrc file.
If you modify your .bashrc you either need to immediately source it or create a new shell to see the changes take effect.
The standard rvm procedure is to source the rvm script that is created. The installation documentation covers most use cases.
If your rvm command is missing, it's possible that your .bashrc is not working as you expect. Is your PATH being modified as you've requested? If not you might have another issue.
